  1. With Pettine, I am concerned that Rex Ryan was really the D-Coordinator of the Jets and Rexy dictates the overall schemes (even if he stopped calling the D signals the last two years (by the way the Jets defense was not as good the last two years as the previous two). How much has this guy actually been a decision making coordinator? Not much is my guess. Is it possible that Romeo Crennell might be available for our D-Coordinator job? I think he would be a solid choice -- he's had solid defenses whereever he has gone.
  2. I agree that whatever scheme the Bills play, they will need to adapt to various situations, but when I look at the Bill's talent, there is much more of it at the D-Tackle / D Line positions than at Linebacker. I don't think we have any players on the roster who would be good OLBs in a 3-4 scheme. We know Kelsay can't play there and I don't think it's the best fit for M. Williams. I am also not sure we have any ILBs who could play in a 3-4 scheme. In a 4-3 I think we are set at D-Tackle with Dareus, K Williams, and Carrington as the main 3.
  3. Good information abouut Shafer - I did not know much about him. Might be a good candidate. Thanks for posting
  4. Rodgers was a great find for the Packers -- and he was given time to develop. He's more mobile than any of the 3 you mentioned and works with no running game, at least the past two years. Of course, I'd take any of them for the Bills.
  5. Get your facts right before you post -- Notre Dames strength of schedule was the highest of any BCS ranked team.
  6. I don't think Rivers is going anywhere, but if he was available for a 2nd or 3rd rounder, I'd take him. He's not worth a first. I also do not know how well he'd handle the weather in Buffalo. It's a far cry from San Diego weather.
  7. I agree completely, unless the college coach has NFL expereince before he went to college. Jmmy Johnson at dallas was an exception to the rule. Steve Spurrier is more the rule.
  8. No Thanks! I do not see him being successful in the NFL.
  9. Against the West Virginia defense, even Ryan Fitzpatrick would look good. Seriously, I've seen WV play alot this year (my wife is an alum) and if a QB can't look good against that defense then they must not be good. Nothing positive to learn from Nassib in this game. I've also seen Geno Smith alot -- I for one am sold on him. He's accurate, patient, mobile, and from all account a hard worker. I for one am hoping the Bills figure out a way to draft him, but I think the possibilities are slim.
  10. I wouild love to see geno Smith in a Bills uniform, although I doubt he drops to where we will draft. Can we go up and get him -- maybe, but it'll cost alot, probably more that it's worth. The Bills have too many holes. As from Kyle Shanahan, I don't think he's head coach material yet. He's done some dumb things in his tenure at Washington that you don't expect to see in a head coach. He has gotten alot out of RGIII, but when given a golden goose, all you can say is he put him in a system that works for him. It's not brain science.
  11. Can't buy in on Tebow. He is not a answer unless the question is "who is not an NFL QB?". Trestman could be interesting. The Bills need a leader at head coach - not sure if that is Trestman or if it's someone else. Gailey is not a leader. As much as I dislike the former tub of lard Rex Ryan, he can lead a team. He got more out of the Jets the last 3 years than he should have.
  12. You must be watching a different game than I am. Sheppard takes wrong angles and is rarely in position to make a play. Bradham has not shown enough to say he's solid, although I'd give him another chance. This LB group should be ripping it up playing behind a pair of good D-Tackles, but they don't.
  13. I agree with two exceptions: I think we about the same at CB now, although i think we are trending up with youth and will get better I think we are worse at LB - this LB crew is one of the worst trio's I've seen. If they weren't so bad, you wouldnot see Scott playing LB and getting blown up on run plays. The coaching has been worse.
  14. Two points: 1. I hope I won't need to learn what Chan would do with a new QB next year because I am hoping that Chan is not in Buffalo next year. 2. I was a big advocate of drafting Kirk Cousins in the 3rd round of this past draft. It did not happen. I doubt that either Russell Wilson or Kirk Cousins would have started the season as the Bills QB if they had been drafted, but I am betting that they would be in therenow if they were on the team.
  15. I would love to see the Bills take the Jets out of the playoffs. The Jets arenot a good team and there's no reason the Bills can't beat them. of course I've said that about the Bills a few times this season and they have proved me wrong. I hate the Jets and would love to see the Bills drop a lump of coal in thier stocking for Christmas by whupping them.
  16. For those that have followed the team since inception like myself, you have seen two AFL Championships in Buffalo. That was the league we were in at that time and we won it all two consecutive years. 50 years is too long a time to wait for another title, but I'll root for the Bills to get there every week and be unhappy if they lose.
  17. I've never seen it, but will put it on the "must watch" list.
  18. I'mnot sure what CJ's contract status is (how many years left), but I don't see him signing back with Buffalo, given the way he's been treated. I do not understand the reasonoing to holding him back and not giving him the carries. And when he does pass block, he may not be the best, but he''s far from the worst I've seen. It's sad to waste such a talent given the lack of talent on this offense.
  19. With the run game being the focus, Martin was in there to help with the blocking. The run game worked so you can't argue with success in this case. If the Bills have the throw the ball, I don't want to see martin within 10 yards of the field of play - in fact the locker room is too close.
  20. I agree completely on Geno Smith. He has everything you want in a QB: 1. Arm Strength 2. Accuracy 3. Experience - He is a 3 year starter 4. He can move in the pocket as well as run - alot of QBs can run, but Smith will move in the pocket and find a receiver 5. Hard worker -- everythign I have read says he puts in more time than anyone on his team and as much as the coaches
  21. I'm done with Fitzpatrick. I supported him at the start of the year, but his performance this year has demonstrated he is a lower tier QB and would be good to keep only as a back-up. I am hoping that somehow Geno Smith can find his way into a Bills uniform next year.
  22. We already had a Texas-ex QB in Vince Young -- how did that work out for us? There is a reason why McCoy isn't playing. If I wanted McCoy I'd also go after Trent Edwards - and how did that turn out for us?
  23. I'm just wondering if the Bills linebackers are really as bad as they look or is it also the scheme that they are in that makes them so ineffective. It's seems like Sheppard almost always takes the wrong angle or chooses the wrong hole to fill. A middle LB should be close to in not the leading tackler each week and it seems like most weeks I never even hear his name called. He also looks lost in pass coverage. Barnett makes some plans, but misses as many as he makes. If he was out 3rd best LB we could play with him, but not as our best LB. Whoever they put on the strong side (Moats or Bradham) neither seems to know where to go and neither can cover a back out of the backfield. The scheme seems to put our two outside LBs inside the D-Ends. The D-Ends can't keep contain and the OLBs are trapped inside easily, giving up the corner alot. I don't understand this scheme as I always thought a 4-3 defense had the OLBs outside the D-Ends. Just asking.
  24. I'm right with you on Shepard -- he's been invisable all season. None of the Bills LBs are playing well.
