  1. I will go for the play that should not have counted -- the illegal forward pass (not lateral) that was at the end the Tennessee Titan playoff game. It signaled the end of Wade Phillips and sent the Bills in a further spiral down to depths.
  2. I would go with Kyle Williams at this point in time. In a year or two, I think Kiki can fill that role -- although not a vocal guy he can lead by example. He is also on the field for most of the plays.
  3. I see Sanchez as an option as well as Thad. Sanchez has played in the cold weather and I think that's a big plus when coming to play in Buffalo. I don't see Schaub going somewhere where he could not compete for a starting job and don't like Vick as an option. It would take more than it's worth to pry Cousins out of Washington. I don't think any of the others are work squat.
  4. Posted Today, 07:54 AM Bob Griffin has done two things since entering the NFL .. get hurt and lose. Not a big fan of RGIII, but he did take a bad team into the playoff last year so he did win. Not so much this year, but the defense and special teams is more to blame there
  5. Jimmy's Old Town tavern in Herndon is a great Buffalo bar. Jimmy is from Buffalo and you can find good wings and they have had beef on weck there on Sundays in the past. have not bee there in a couple of years.
  6. While I agree with the basic premise that the defense is not as bad as the stats lead you to believe,if you remove the statistics you note from the Bills statistics you need to remove them from the other teams as well for a fair compare
  7. It's tough to say the Bills do not have a QB right now. It's too early to come to any conclusion on Manual yet, especially with him missing 2 weeks of training camp and ~4 weeks of the season. Bills fans should have recognized he wasn't Andrew Luck , but I believe he can be a god NFL B-- top 1/2 of the league if given some experience. The Bills need help n the O-Line, Tight End and cornerback. QB is far down the line.
  8. Hard to believe how fast he has fallen. At one point there was an argument between he and Revis for best corner and now he can't make a team.
  9. I guess I'm missing something (along with Seattle and Oakland). I don't see anything good happening with a Matt Flynn start, especially against the pass rush of KC. I guess the positive s that I doubt the Bills could win this game with healthy QB so this is just a throw away.
  10. I have not thought about Bill Mazer for along time, but he was a voice I listened to all he time growing up RIP Bill
  11. Can't argue with this logic. The other is to keep the opposing team from driving into Bills territory in the waning minutes of the game -- force a 4 & out and not 8 play drive to the Bills 25.
  12. No way -- We had Trent Edwards so been there, done that. No way -- We had Trent Edwards so been there, done that.
  13. I like the way Carpenter has been kicking. Keep him and somehow hide Hopkins.
  14. We can only hope -- and that's not because Legursky is so good, but because Brown is a liability in the o-line. What can Brown do for you?? - ride the pine.
  15. Not excited about Pat White. He is a runner who plays QB, not a QB who can also run.
  16. Spot on statistics here! Thanks for spelling them out. These tell the story as to why he was cut.
  17. Got to agree with most of the list, except for 5 - the banged up secondary is causing Petine to back off his aggressive defenses.
  18. Seattle runs the read option with Russell Wiilson. That said, I do believe that the NFL Defensive Coordinators have started punishing the QBs when they run then read option and that alone will slow down it's use. I think it is a weapon that the Bills should use occasionally, but it's not a full time offense for them.
  19. I am with you although with the Bills there is no such thing as a "gimme". The Bills will need some sustained drives to win this game, continue to effectively run the ball and get 1st downs. I like Manuel on the read option, if he can learn how to pull the ball out without losing it.
  20. Agreed - Carpenter has been solid in kicks and kickoffs. He is also a proven commodity.
  21. I know we are all prone to overreaction after a nice win or ugly loss so here is mine. After watching Easley cover punts and kickoffs in the last couple of games, I have to say that I don't think anyone has done it much better for the Bills, outside of Steve Tasker. Now Easley has to show the durability to approach Tasker in Bill's lore, he is certainly getting the job done. I hope he keeps it up!
  22. The replay rules now seem to dictate officials calls. Since turnovers and TDs are automatically reviewed I believe that the official will call a catch for a TD or call it a turnover if there is any chance of it being so, even if they don't think so. This way the review will drive getting the right call. The "safety" rules for hits also cause problems as the official has to make a judgment call of whether the player used his head or went after the head while the players are flying around. That is a hard call and the league dictates "error on the side of safety" so you see many more of these penalties called that should not be. Add to that the Hu-Def screens and super slow motion, a fan or replay official can now see things that were never seen before. Overall, being an official now, is much harder that it was 10 years ago.
