1. I look for San Diego to destroy Pittsburgh tonight. The way SD has been playing the last few weeks I'm not sure anybody in the NFL is better. Gates makes this team so much better, he's a monster and opens up everything. Teams have to deside if they're going to take away Gates or put another guy in the box to stop LT. No matter what they do they're screwed.
2. The Bills don't have to beat those teams to get to the playoffs. Two of the three games you mention are on the road. Asking them to win all of those is unrealistic. The Bills need to win the divsion, they're not going to have a good enough record to get a wild card. To win the division they need to sweep the Phins and Jets and split with the Pats. After that they need to win at least 1 road game (other than division road games) and win the rest at home (they might be able to lose one other home game). If they did that and won the rest at home they'd be 10-6, if they lost 1 more at home it would be 9-7 which might be good enough to win the division with tiebreakers.
3. I actually think it was Fletcher that caused the fumble at the end and not Clements. Clements moved his shoulder towards the ball but if you look carefully Brown pulls the ball down and Nate's shoulder hits nothing. It's Flethers hand coming around the backside that knocked the ball loose.
4. There's a reason most of the ref's are old and the NFL doesn't hire full time refs. The NFL only hires refs that are wealthy. This is the way they try to avoid gamblers tampering with the refs. The way the NFL figures it, if the refs already have money they're less likely to take a bribe. As for the original post, I'm of the opinion that only blatantly obvious penalties should be called. The flags interrupt the flow of the game and get in the way of the players making plays. I don't want ticky-tack fouls to be called. Let the players determine the outcome of the games, not flags.
5. What do you want him to say? They ask a question and he can either 1) answer it or 2) say, "no comment" and look like a sulking child. He answered the question as well as it can be answered for a guy that just got benched.
6. Bengals just did the same thing on a 4th and inches call. Brought the WR in motion only to stop him right behind the tackle. Makes absolutely no sense.
7. Well, by "consistently" I didn't mean week in and week out. I expect bad performances four or so times a year. Of course, that means that the Bills have already reached their quota.
8. Houshmandzadeh is one of the best (if not the best) #2 WR's in the game.
9. I'll give the D credit, they came up with the big play that they needed. That being said, it's become all too common for this D to give up big drives late in games that end up costing the Bills wins. From the moment the Dolphins started that last drive I had the sinking feeling that it was going to happen again. Thankfully, this time, they made the game breaking play. Let's hope they can build off of this.
10. I'm just the opposite. I love the fact that the coaching staff/front office never gives him an answer he wants. Despite what Sully and the fans think, the team doesn't owe them a straight answer on who is hurt or who is starting.
11. Heh, that's funny. I had this exact thought tonight as I walked the dog. I came to the conclusion that I just want the Bills to play well, consistently. If they lose, that's fine. But if they play well consistently they'll win a hell of a lot more than they lose. What I can't stand (and it aggravates me to no end) is inconsistent play. I'd almost rather they totally sucked and it was easy to isolate the problems and fix them.
12. And those players that aren't playing well usually say as much. Yet I don't see people bitching about the players saying they can play better. But if someone posts it, they're not a "TRUE" fan. Also, to compare this team to a Yankee team that has won their division 8 straight years is comical. This Bills team hasn't won their division in what, 10 years? I think the Yankees get the benefit of the doubt when they get out of the gate slowly, whereas this Bills team has to prove to me that they are a good team. I'll take wins anyway I can get them, but I'm not going to be pleased when the team plays poorly and the other team hands us the game (unless said game is the Super Bowl).
13. The only thing that's ignorant is your assumption that ignorance is the opposite of intelligence. 471036 Reading comprehension obviously isn't your friend. Keep slapping your head, perhaps you'll knock something into place.
14. Some people just love to complain! Its a low self-esteem issue. 470969 Some people just love to accept mediocrity. It's an intelligence issue. Ignorance is bliss... I have no clue why people feel the need to insult others who have a different opinion, but if you are going to jump the gun I'm happy to fire back.
15. Saban looked extensively at Holcomb in the offseason as they considered picking him up (though they ended up going with Frerotte instead). I don't think this threw a curve ball at the Dolphins at all.
16. If the Bills got 5 turnovers and 18 penalties against the Patriots, Steelers, Colts or Eagles I'd expect them to blow them out of the water too. No matter who you are playing if the Bills are a good team a game like this is never close.
17. I don't know about benching Moulds as he'll aid Losman's growth. However, anybody on that D is subject to being sat down imo though Fletcher might be the exception.
18. If this team isn't competitive enough to legitimately contend for a SB title then yeah, this year should be about preparing our young players for next year, particularly our QB. If a team doesn't have the patience to watch a young QB struggle then they should never draft a QB in the first round. And no, it’s not about one player; the entire organization benefits from stability at the QB position.
19. Well, that's the debate now isn't it? Short term success (like today against Miami) vs. long term team success. Long term success only happens in the NFL with stability at the QB position (among other things). I’ve never seen a team be completive year in and year out without stability at the QB position.
20. Worst case scenario is that we're in playoff contention up until the final weeks but don't make it in. We'll have sacrificed the entire season for a playoff pipe dream, lost a top 10 draft pick and (most importantly) lost an entire year of Losman learning on the job. The way the Bills seem to be snake bit, this will probably end up happening.
21. Preparing isn't really going to do much more for him. He needs to get used to the speed of the game, which can only happen by playing.
22. Yeah, we'll wait till next year for that though. Well, unless next year people lack the patience yet again, at which point we'll let him learn two years from now...
23. Yep, we probably would have lost without him. Of course, we don't get to play the Dolphins every game at home. We also don't get to play teams that turn the ball over 5 times and commit 18 penalties. Holcomb isn't going to be enough after next week's game against the Jets. This team is bad, plain and simple. I'd like to convince myself that they'll magically get better but I haven't been able to do it yet.
24. No, these things are obviously mutually exclusive. Duh.
