Players released between certain dates can't be signed by teams until the FA period begins. What those exact dates are I don't know, I'm sure you could locate the info if you really wanted to.
The only player on the board that would be worth the #2 pick is Leinart and I don't particularly want to see what his arm looks like in 30mph winds. I also don't want to see what it would cost the Bills to move up to that spot because it would cost us a lot more than JP and a swap of 1st round picks.
Not to mention, after 8 games people would be screaming for Leinart's head and calling him a bust.
I'm not sure how anyone is shocked at Milloy's release. He played poorly last year and has a high cap number for a S. Add to it that the cover 2 doesn't fit his skillset and it was pretty likely that he would get the axe.
There aren't many DTs out there that are quicker than Adams and, despite his size, he wasn't a plug in the middle. I'd say that the coaching staff is looking for some guys that can take up blockers and let the LBs make plays. That wasn't Adams' strong suit and from what I've read, that is Ngata's.
Ahh, the infamous, "a lot of people".
A lot of people liked Doug Flutie
A lot of people liked Rob Johnson
A lot of people didn't like either of them
Wow, I can really get into this "A lot of people" thing. One can pretty much use it anyway they want to prove anything they want!
I'd say we're a bit thin at LB but I'd like to see us shore up both lines before we start spending first round picks at the LB positions. Of course, if the Bills manage to pick up some viable solutions to their line issues in FA perhaps they can look in other directions come draft day.
You mean a contrast to the "I don't know how good the kid can/will be, I'm willing to give him more than 8 starts"?
Yeah, that seems like love and peace...or it might just be rational thought.
From everything I've read Mathews is JPs main tutor. He's the guy that goes over and gives JP advice during the games and practices. I understand your desire to want a young guy at the #3 spot but I think that only really applies if you have a Vet QB. With a young QB I think you're better off with a tutor type guy in the 3rd spot. If the Bills want to improve their QBing this year they need to bring in a legit Vet to compete with JP for the starting spot (and dump KH) but I'd leave Mathews at the 3rd spot.
You want numbers, how about this one: The Bills led the league in plays of 20+ yards against them on D. That is an indication of many things and one of them is weak saftey play. It's indicative of Safeties being out of position and/or not making tackles when they need to.
Trying to use fumble recoveries (a stat that says Vincent was standing around the pile and not in it) and return yard average (how on earth did you even come up with this one?) to prove that he did a decent job is ridiculous.
How is that nuts? Vincent was consistently late getting over on deep help and is the worst tackler on the D. I don't know if he's washed up or just hasn't made a solid transition to S, either way he's a weak link on the D.
Milloy carries a cap hit of 3, 750, 000 and Vincent 3, 225,000. You'd think with numbers like those (a bit below the average of the top 5 paid Safties) that we'd have one of the best S tandems in the league.
If the refs called offensive PI like that on Irvin I'm not sure Irvin would have had a single catch in either of the SBs. Hell, he might not have had a single reception during his entire career!
Yes, I'm being sarcastic...I think.
Guess I'll be the voice of (half) decent. While I thought the Aaron Neville half of the anthom was absolutly horrid I thought the second half when Aretha sang was spectacular, perhaps the best I've heard at the Super Bowl.
To be fair there isn't a team's fan base in the NFL that travels like the Steelers fans. Any team against them in a SB is going to basically be on the road unless they're fortunate enough to be playing in their home city.
I don't have a problem with them not overturning it, I have a problem with them calling it a TD on the field to begin with. If it was going to be called a TD the ref should have had his hands up immediately but the official only called it a TD after Ben was down and reached the ball out over the plane. It's the way it was called a TD that was fishy. Had the official thrown up his hands immediately I don't think anybody would be complaining.
