Carson Palmer - potentially career ending
MDH replied to bartshan-83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Robert Edwards did eventually come back, albeit briefly. Unlike a RB a QB isn't really required to plant his foot and cut. Hopefully Palmer is able to come back. There is a derth of quality QB play in the NFL, the last thing the league needs is its star youngster calling it a career. -
Not that I disagree that Mularkey should have been let go a week ago...but the way this has played out is a total embarrassment to the Bills organization. Solid organizations don't have this type of circus atmosphere.
-
Or it could simply be that nothing the Bills have done this past week has made much sense...

2006 Bills = late 1990s 49ers?
MDH replied to ROSCOE P. COE TRAIN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This joke might have been funny a few seasons ago. However, given the way things have shaped up in Bills country as of late it has the ring of truth to it these days. -
Knowing how this team loves to give its fans hope only to dash it at the last second it wouldn't surprise me if they called the press conference to let the fans know that Mularkey is staying. Note: I have no clue what the pirate emoticon means but I've always wanted to use it.

Sweet, I’ve prepared the gallows.

I'm sure the networks think that the Bills front office would make for "good" reality TV - whatever that means.

I was being facetious with the Carroll comment.

Please tell me this Mularkey thing isn't true.

I would guess that what happens in Buffalo is no worse (or less) than what happens in any city when the team is struggling. I don't fault Mularkey for looking out for his family first but I'm not sure what he expected when he took the job. -
Don't forget ex-Pat too.

Eric Mangini rumored to be new Bill's coach...
MDH replied to haff20's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kind of interesting that it took years for Romeo Crennel to get a shot at a HC job while Mangini is likely to get a shot after a single season. A season, I might add, that hasn't been that great for the Pats D. -
We could hire Pete Carroll.

He's a candidate for almost every coaching vacancy in the league. -

Umm, as of now we still have a coach. How on earth could another one (who's still in the playoffs btw) already be lined up to take over? -
Don't forget the vinegar.

While I hope the "family considerations" is nothing serious I also hope that Ralph and Marv accept the resignation. This will put us a year ahead of schedule during this latest rebuilding.

I'm not so sure he'll be an outstanding RB. He's never been "the guy", meaning a guy that can carry the load when a team needs it. He'll be a guy that gets 15 touches a game (running & receiving). Whoever gets him had better be happy with that. He's also a guy that, on just about every single play, takes the ball and runs outside, whether there's a hole between the tackles or not. It's not a matter of running to the outside when something isn't there inside, that USC OL dominated and there were consistently places where Bush could run inside. Instead he elected to run toward the sideline 7 times out of 10 (if not more than that). He's spectacular in the open field, probably the most electric player I've seen. But he won't be hitting the corner in the NFL like he does in college. Running backs that can’t run between the tackles aren’t successful in the NFL. That in combination with the fact that he'll likely need to split carries with another RB makes me think that the team that drafts him very high might not be so happy with the selection a few years down the road.

And with Lendale White also declaring there's a shot he goes in the top 7 and pushes someone down to us as well.

Hah, and while I was typing my reply somebody else beat me to the punch!

The first person that came into my mind was Barry Sanders. Just a joy to watch and he never opened his mouth of acted like it was a big deal when he scored a TD. His accomplishments in the sport meant so little to him that he retired a year before he was likely to break the all time rushing mark. A mark that Emit Smith never would have touched had Sanders played 3-4 more years. Just a class guy and spectacular athlete.

I Am Sick Of Hearing That GW Was A
MDH replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have the feeling that he'll be a lot more successful the second time around. I also have the feeling that the candidates that most wish the Bills would have hired (Marvin Lewis, etc) wouldn’t have had nearly the success they’ve had elsewhere and likely would have been fired from the Bills. There would be several threads a day saying, “why didn’t TD hire Gregg Williams as head coach instead of Lewis?!” Coaching is important but we simply didn’t/don’t have the horses to win. -
a good piece to read regarding the moulds debate
MDH replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thing that people are missing here is that Carolina had to pay Muhammad a 10M roster bonus. That would have hurt their cap for years, not just one year. The Bills don't owe Moulds any such bonus. If they keep Moulds it's not going to kill them for years to come. The Bills cap savings for cutting Moulds will probably be in the 3 million dollar range this year (5M saved by cutting Moulds plus whatever it costs to sign a viable replacement which I've estimated at roughly 2M, though it could be more). As long as the replacement is a guy that can get the job done I'm all for it. We need a solid possession guy that can find the seem of a zone and make the tough catches over the middle. I have no doubt that there are a few guys out there that could fit the bill. That being said I don't want to cut Moulds just to cut him. I want somebody on the roster before Moulds is let go. Just hoping to get someone, anyone, in FA and cutting Moulds for this phantom player is a mistake. Reed and Aiken are not viable options and if the Bills end up with one of them as their 2nd WR we’re in big trouble. -
I'm not the biggest WM supporter. He's a good, but not great, RB. But when did he ever say that he may hold out? I've not heard that. And to push it even farther, Rosenhaus' clients don't tend to hold out. He gets them into camp on time just about every year (there are a few exceptions). His bark is much bigger than his bite, and despite fan reaction to Rosenhaus GMs like working with him because he gets the job done quickly and he doesn't make them break the bank. Rosenhaus hasn't negotiated ANY of the top contracts in the league. Also, I've never heard any RB say they shouldn't get the ball more. So that only leaves your first point. I agree, it's annoying, but I don't think Marv is going to cut the guy because he ran his mouth once.
