Agreed, Pickett in the middle shores up the DT spots without having to use a draft pick on them. I'd argue that there would still be three glaring holes on D though, DE, SS, and FS. Granted, you can't have all pros at every position but all three of these spots could use upgrades in order to get them into the "average" category.

If the Bills can fill a bunch of their holes with FA (a solid DT, a starting calibur G and C and a quality SS) then I wouldn't mind seeing them make a move up to grab Brick or Mario. Otherwise they have too many needs to give away draft picks for a single player.

Only if Chambers can outjump everybody because that's what Culpepper is best at, throwing it up and hoping his WR comes down with it. Not to mention, Culpepper won't even be ready by season's start. If I had to choose between Miami getting Culpepper or Brees I'd want them to land Culpepper. If both are healthy Brees is the better QB.

Are you really going to attempt to give Holcomb the W for the KC game just because he was under center for the first snap of the game? You also conveniently forget that 2 or Holcomb's 3 wins were the easiest two home games on the schedule. It boggles my mind that anybody is comfortable with Holcomb at QB or is willing to flush a first round draft pick down the toilet after 8 starts. JP might not be the real deal but you have to play him to find out. There was nothing in his first 8 starts that jumped out and said he has no chance of succeeding. Actually it was just the opposite. He progressed from game to game and when given a little bit of time was able to make some big plays. That’s what most people says they want from a young QB. They’re willing to accept a guy that will make those dumb young QB mistakes as long as he counters it with some flashes that show us what he’s capable of. That is exactly what we got from JP last year.

And they'd still go 8-8 when their D still allows 25 points a game There are only so many balls to go around and there is no need to have that much talent at the skill positions while you let your D crumble to pieces (not to mention their OL, which is pretty weak). Just look at the Colts. They had that much talent on the O for years but could never put it together because of their D...and Arizona doesn't have anybody comparable to Manning at QB. Green is assembling a fantasy team not a team that will be competitive come playoff time.

Davis is a WR that averages over 20 yards a reception and Holcomb is a QB that can't throw it the ball 20 yards down field. I don't think Davis is going to prefer Holcomb.

I agree that Ted hasn't dropped off much in recent years, however one has to feel that he is eventually going to hit the wall, either with injuries or ineffectiveness. He can't keep that much weight on his body and keep playing at a high level for much more time. The guy is 37 years old as it is.

Not that I disagree with you in principle, yeah a team does need some blue chip players to win. That being said I'm not sure you can point to the Super Bowl winners in the past, oh, 10 years or so, and say that the guys that made the difference were blue chip players they picked up in FA. Just look at the Pats and the Steelers. They were selective in FA and most of their impact players were guys they drafted themselves. I wasn't (and am still not) a big fan of the Marv hiring, but I haven't seen anything he's doing yet that makes me scratch my head and wonder, "WTF is he doing!!!" All of these signings seem pretty straightforward: They're value players at need positions. The best way of getting blue chip players isn't in FA, a team must draft them.

If Ralph isn't embarrassed then how is he embarrassing himself?

The Packer fans own the team though, so it's not quite the same thing. -

When one is the owner of a team whose entire stadium consists of season tickets AND there's a waiting list a decade long for season tickets you can pretty much charge anything you want and get away with it. -
I think this is a legitimate point of view and one I'd likely share if I owned a company and was about to sign a contract that had a major impact on its value and direction. I honestly don't know how one could argue to the contrary.

The deal is bad for most other teams. See, you're not the only one that can make a definitive statement about something they know very little about. I can do it too. -
This video has changed my mind about who I...

If teams in the NFL ever start running the option Huff is the CB I want on the strong side defending it! Otherwise I saw nothing in that vid that made me think I want this guy playing center field for the Bills. The D is going to be playing a lot of cover 2 this year while Huff looks like a guy that would do well playing SS near the LoS in a Greg Williams type D. Milloy was bad last year but if that was the type of S Jauron wanted I doubt he would have let Milloy go. -
They wouldn't be mocking him if they had any kind of respect for the elderly, period. The media (particularly the talk shows) love to have a laugh at other people's expense even if the people they're making fun of have done nothing wrong. Ralph's quote did strike me as that of someone who might want to consider stepping aside from an active role with the team but there's no way in hell I'm going to mock or ridicule him for it. The man is 87 years old and has accomplished more in his life than most and done so in a dignified manner. If that's not worthy of respect I don't know what is.

I don't mind the pick just not at #8. If Bunkley is the guy the Bills like they need to move down and pick up a pick or two in the process.
-
I'm sure teams will be shaking at the thought of stopping a guy that's never been anything but a #2WR, a rookie TE, a second year TE who has never taken a regular season snap in the NFL and who is coming off a major knee injury, a tiny #3 WR that's never done anything outside of special teams and "the best back in the league." You make it sound like teams will be spread so thin trying to stop this unbelievable collection of talent that the Bills have assembled on offense and by adding Davis it makes the Bills virtually unstoppable. The Bills need to first establish a team that can run and pass block effectively on offense and clog the middle against the run and get semi-consistent pressure on defense (without blitzing every down). Once they do that they can worry about giving opposing teams fits with their skill players. We need fat guys first, then fast guys.

Pretty sure it's part of the current CBA though I have no clue if anyone has one available online.

Players released between certain dates can't be signed by teams until the FA period begins. What those exact dates are I don't know, I'm sure you could locate the info if you really wanted to.

They are FA now but teams can't sign them until Monday.

Did any one hear a rumor on Jim Rome yesterday....

The only player on the board that would be worth the #2 pick is Leinart and I don't particularly want to see what his arm looks like in 30mph winds. I also don't want to see what it would cost the Bills to move up to that spot because it would cost us a lot more than JP and a swap of 1st round picks. Not to mention, after 8 games people would be screaming for Leinart's head and calling him a bust. -

If only it went down like this. Somehow I don't think Mario slides down to us unless he has some Warren Sapp like problems before the draft. -
I'm not sure how anyone is shocked at Milloy's release. He played poorly last year and has a high cap number for a S. Add to it that the cover 2 doesn't fit his skillset and it was pretty likely that he would get the axe.

Now that Adams is gone - Why do we take Ngata?
MDH replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There aren't many DTs out there that are quicker than Adams and, despite his size, he wasn't a plug in the middle. I'd say that the coaching staff is looking for some guys that can take up blockers and let the LBs make plays. That wasn't Adams' strong suit and from what I've read, that is Ngata's. -
Sam Adams was a one gap DT despite what the coaching staff tried to make him last year.
