If you front-load a guy's contract he'll be bitching 4 years from now how he's severally underpaid (somehow forgetting the money he made at the front end of the contract). As much as front loading would make sense cap wise the last thing I want is a guy that has already seen most of the money from his contract. It’s a recipe for a holdout.

good piece by dr. z on the top of the draft

What he said about D'Brick is better than what he said about Huff. I'll take Levi Jones good, you're not going to find Ogden good, he's an all time great. -
If you only think he has the skills to play in the CFL why would you want to give him a chance to prove you wrong when you feel there is 0% chance of that happening? It seems like you'd want him out of here ASAP. If I felt that way about him I wouldn't want him on the team.

"Ability without character will lose." - Marv Levy
MDH replied to CoachChuckDickerson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm still wondering where people get this "The Bills have lost faith in JPL" stuff. The article published yesterday has no credibility. The Bills didn't work out (nor are they scheduled to) either Young or Cutler so it’s not like they’re giving signs that they’re going to draft a QB with their #1 pick. They brought in a career 3rd string backup to compete for the job when they could have gone out and picked up Brees, Culpepper, Brooks, Kitna or any number of other veterans to come in and run the offense. So they said there will be an open competition at the QB position (something I'm all for as long as it's really between Nall and JP and not Holcomb). Let the two young guys compete and see who wins. Everybody last year was up in arms that the Bills didn't make JP compete for his starting spot and now that Marv and Co. are making him compete it suddenly means that the team has completely lost faith in him? It seems to me they've given him pretty easy competition to dispose of so there won't be any "he was given the job" sentiment in the locker room. -
That's what I said, only I got that all in with one sentence.

And BF is secretly a chef.

So you don't like his haircut...JP is an AHOLE! So you don't like that he was still into the game and not pouting after he was benched...JP is an AHOLE! You make some good points.

When I said "hate a player" I didn't mean the actual person, I meant the player. There are no concrete reasons to dislike Losman (as a player) as much as you do. There are reasons to be skeptical (as well as optimistic) but that's about it.
-
It can't be much fun being an optimist either as you always end up disappointed. I guess it's just not much fun being a Bills fan if winning is important to you. Being a happy Bills fan is like rooting for a kid in the special Olympics...you're just pleased that your kid participated and you got to watch.
-
I've never seen anybody so apt to hate a player for no concrete reasons as you are with Losman.

Eight starts into Cutler's career as a Bill the fans would be calling him a bust and there would be rumors that he was on the trade block.

I don't know how to break it to you but teams eventually put their 1st round drafted QBs into the starting lineup within the first two years without having them "compete" for the job. It's how you get value out of the selection as they're not going to get better sitting on the bench. Unfortunately for the Bills (and the fans) those other teams generally don't yank the chain of the QB all season long, they stick it out with him through thick and thin (and usually do so for a second year as well). If a team isn't willing to do this then they have no buisness selecting a QB in the first round.

I'm having a tough time believing King is right (and not just because his name is Peter King). Why would a network pay huge bucks for the Monday night package only to have to show bad teams that don't draw large audiences? I just can't imagine that they'd do that...but here's to hoping.
-
Once again you try to pad Holcomb's win column with the KC game simply because he took the first snap from center.
-
So you're saying that if you had your pick of several locations around the country to work at location would have nothing to do with your decision? Um, okay. Let's get back to reality. Weather, schools, taxes, entertainment, family, etc. all play a large part in people deciding where they want to work, be they football players or not. To think that these guys are simply going to sign with a team that pays them $1 more per year and that's all that matters is ridiculous.

A sound as if you believe the posters on TSW are all one entity and not different people.

Moulds likely to be cut very soon!
MDH replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, that "rapidly declining" guy put up 27 catches in the last three games of the season. I won't argue that he's not worth the cash but he's still a very good WR and unless the Bills are actually going to USE the cap space created by cutting him then I'm all in favor of keeping him. If this team goes into the season with Evans, Reed and Davis as our WRs I think you'll be kicking yourself for your anti-Moulds crusade. Evans getting double covered every down isn't going to be a pretty sight. -
Somehow I don't think he'll be made to go elsewhere anytime soon as he has only made 15 posts. Compare that to someone like Holcomb's Arm and you'll realize that crusading is perfectly acceptable on the board (despite a "rule" to the contrary). Also Is Marv Awake's username + avatar = pretty funny. At least it got a chuckle out of me.

They signed him to an offer sheet which Arizona has a week to match. If they don't match it he's a Bill.
-
How exactly is Zac wrong when he says he would rather go with Preston? Are you claiming that Zac wouldn't rather go with Preston? I guess you know more about Zak's preferences than Zac does.
-
I've decided to get the jersey numbers of players that are young and have recently signed an extention and not worry about who my favorite player on the team is. Who fits that bill? Terrance McGee. Unless he gets injured he should be on the team for 3-4 more years minimum.

Most of our FA signings are built for speed.

I never dreamed that anybody- even the biggest homer- could look at the current Bills roster and believe the above. I think you have officially transcended homer-ism and moved right to delusional. -
The Bills should only sign American players.
-
I would have sat Favre last year and let Rogers get 6-7 starts last year. There was no reason for Brett to be playing the majority of snaps down the stretch.

bills should sign with an american based automaker

As Ned Beatty pointed out in Network: "You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations; there are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no third worlds. There is no West. There is only one holistic system of systems; one vast, interwoven, interacting, multivaried, multinational dominion of dollars."
