Cruise Control: Do you use it?
Southern McButterpants. replied to Southern McButterpants.'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
Lots! Even had a nip slip on the beach Friday. Surf was kinda rough . . . -
Just got back from a week in Myrtle Beach. While the vacation was great, getting there and back was an exercise in frustration. Driving on I-95 should be considered cruel and unusual punishment. There is so much traffic from Baltimore to Richmond, it's sickening. How in the world can you have a traffic jam on a 4 lane highway at 10:00 AM on a SUNDAY?!?!? Anyway, here's the gist of the post - When driving on the interstate (and a lot of other places), I'll set my cruise control for 7-10 MPH over the posted speed limit. I know that my wife and kids do not use CC, and they all think i'm nuts for doing so. I can tell that a lot of other drivers do not use CC either, because their speed fluctuates a lot. Added Bonus (and the reason i don't carry a gun): How often does this happen to you? - You're driving on the interstate, you come up behind a car in the right lane, so you go to pass this person. As soon as you get along side of them, they begin to speed up. the result is A) you have to speed up to complete the pass B) you end up side by side for umpteen miles C) they pull ahead and you go back to the right lane. This only applies to regular driving, not heavy traffic - in heavy traffic all bets are off and it's Thunderdome. Also, the result of A) is that they will then speed up to pass you. and then slow down again. This person doesn't want to go any faster than you, but just needs to be ahead of you. I cannot tell you how many time the above happened to me on this trip: Drives me bat crap crazy. And don't even get me started on the number of drivers who just park themselves in the left hand passing lane in SC, NC and Virginia . . . rant over...

Did you read what he wrote? This is a panties in an uproar reaction by the lefty PC crowd, not the right. And you're soooo wrong on freedom and free speech it hurts. Free speech is a free for all. It's a constitutional right. I understand that it doesn't apply to the corporate world, but this was soo friggin predictable. And his employer has every right to deem in "incorrect," but don't post hypocritical BS that states that all employee should feel free to express their opinion. Excuse me. I have to go download Firefox...

I've always been a big fan of google. Use their apps, use chrome, etc. A nice alternative to the Apple behemoth. That said, their dumpster fire response to this makes me want to delete anything and everything associated with their garbage company and never, ever use anything with the "g" word in it ever again. Two phrases knock it out of the park for me: CEO Sundar Pichai - we strongly support the right of Googlers to express themselves, VP of Diversity - it advanced incorrect assumptions about gender. I hate the hypocrisy of the left. All opinions and views are equal, but some are more equal than others. SMH.

Loudest Bills game ever?
Southern McButterpants. replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can still find myself, my brother and my dad in our yellow rain slickers in that poster. The loudest i can recall the stadium is when the Raiders had to call a timeout during the Bills' first drive in the '90 AFC Championship game. -

Least funny comedian/comedic actor
Southern McButterpants. replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Hannibal Burris??? You're listening to the wrong bits. I find him hilarious. I'll second the votes for Carlos Mencia. I just dont "get" him. And I'll add George Lopez. He is by far the least funny "comedian" I've ever heard. And did someone REALLY say Jerry Seinfeld???? -
Whoa, whoa whoa. Are you telling me that the Washington Post is attributing some nefarious plot to something that trump wants to do? Wow, didn't see that coming. The one thing that no one is saying, is that it really doesn't matter that it's Trump in the WH. Any one with an R after their name is going to get the exact same treatment from the MS media. Trump just happens to be slightly less polished than most politicians, a bit more thin-skinned, fights back (which most spineless R's are reluctant to do), and gives a few fewer f*'s about what the WaPo, NYT, CNN, and the rest of the lying media think and say than most office holders. I'm not a big fan of Trump, but at least he's not letting the media steam-roller him.

Do you dislike Boston?
Southern McButterpants. replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Been there a number of times for work trips, and I hate every aspect of Boston. Small, tight spaces, Saturday traffic jams, roads not laid out in grid, impossible to get to airport. Its an awful place to visit, and I would hate to live there. Toss in that horribly annoying accent and you have hell in america. -
Fixed it for ya. Plus the receivers need to be uber-athletic as well (See Gronk, et al). Not sure how much "brains" you need to do this. the Qb needs to be able to fling the ball into the required space in about 2 seconds. I think any idiot QB can recognize the pre-snap defensive scheme and throw into that space. the "brains" comes in when he has to play mental chess and see 5-6 seconds post snap. Given the simplicity of this scheme, it's a wonder that: a - more teams don't try to replicate it, and b - D's don't crowd and bump receivers at the LOS to stop it. I'm not saying it would be easy. you would need super athletic DB's to pull this off. See Jets playoff victories vs. Brady/Pat*s. We've all seen TB lose his S*** when he has pressure up the middle. That only comes from pressure that simply cannot be there in 2.2 seconds.
