  1. What's your instrument? Do you still perform? By the way, I'm a big fan of the Russian composers too, but I break more toward Mussorgsky and Rachmaninoff.
  2. Isn't it safe to assume that's the whole idea behind all the investigations?
  3. I won't make any midterm predictions, but I think you're 100% correct on "Return of the Bern" in 2020.
  4. Wow - that's impressive! I remember that commercial! Can you imagine paying only $12.98 for all that nowadays? On 8-tracks too, no less.
  5. I grew up in the 60's and 70's, a time with lots of fantastic music. Time and again, I would see references to classical pieces listed as influences in the songs I liked. The catalyst fir me was the soundtrack for the movie A Clockwork Orange, specifically the Molto Vivace segment of Beethoven's Ninth: But many, many more gems were to follow.....
  6. I'll start a thread where we can all exchange favorites - I'm not too familiar with Dvorak, having only heard a couple of his works. There's some incredible music from that era, which has a much heavier influence on modern music than most people are aware of.
  7. Any favorites in particular?
  8. Yes, indeed I am. That place is a long way from me (South 1st & Ben White) but I will definitely make it a point to give it try - thanks! Good stuff to be sure! I think they used Castanzo's rolls, which makes all the difference IMO.
  9. A river in Egypt, eh? The 1980's is calling and wants it's outdated cliches back. You can do better than that. And what about my post specifically is so "wow"? It seemed pretty straightforward to me. One thing I'm starting to wonder about though - do actually understand what checks and balances are and how they work? Or is that just another cliche you've latched onto?
  10. If scandals were based upon unsubstantiated innuendo and an adversarial press in full-blown freak out mode, then you'd be on to something. This president offers plenty to criticize, but I think you're engaging in a bit of wishful thinking in declaring him as being "scandal ridden".
  11. That seems to be a common trait among presidents over the last few decades.
  12. Probably just because it's been close to 40 years since I've had one, but I always loved a John and Mary's steak sub. The barbecue and Tex-Mex around here is to die for, but you just can't find good subs anywhere, and beef on weck is completely unheard of.
  13. This. If it wasn't for bands like Rainbow, Zappa, Black Sabbath (whichever line up at the time - Iommi did everything he could to keep that name going), and the reformation of Deep Purple, I would have had nothing new to listen to at all. In fact, now that I think about it, this was also the era where I starting listening to a lot of classical music.
  14. I wouldn't call that "stacking", I'd call it nominating people qualified for the job.
  15. Found this today - the season 8 promo clip from Comic Con:
  16. I thought it was Axyl Rose.
  17. All they need to do is exempt lottery winnings from their calculations and this won't happen.
  18. But back in those days we'd get a backhand for disobeying, not like nowadays.
  19. Last I heard, Mark Margolis was improving and his prognosis appeared to be good. I can't find the link to the article where I read that though. Sending prayers his way.
  20. Yes, you brought this up on PPP, and I will tell you the same thing here as I did over there. Yes to both, and I will support you if you ever run for public office.
  21. Having had time to think about it, I honestly have to wonder if Chuck will actually die in the house fire. That may be his intent, but to burn to death is probably the most painful way to go outside of torture, and I find it hard to believe that he'll be able to just stay inside and burn without trying to get the hell out of the fire - getting out of/away from flames is an instinctive reaction, not something you decide to do or not do. If he had the willpower to sit there and burn to death, then wouldn't he also have the willpower to ignore his perceived suffering from electromagnetic fields? Besides, there are so many other ways that he could commit suicide without having to endure that agony. I may be way off base with this - it is fiction after all. It's just that the more I think about it, the less it makes sense to me.
