Rex's "antiquated" Defense

This week the CBs has safety help, which helped. We also played some zone. -
The Bills Won Today because You....

The guy sitting next to me and I were still nervous and telling people it's not over yet with 1:20 to play. I was afraid if Zona got within 7, then Walt would put his flag to heavy use calling bogus penalties against us and we would be doomed. -

I flew 3000 miles to go to the game and wore my Fred Jackson (non Nike) jersey and Texas Rangers cap. -
Bills vs. Cardinals Postgame
reddogblitz replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rex is pretty confident it won't be Tommy. Rex's routine is awesome when we win. No way he's going to kiss bill's rings. Seemed to me getting 4 picks in the 4th quarter pretty much closed it out. -
4th & Goal From The 1. TD Or FG?
reddogblitz replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for posting this interesting article. I can't say how long it would have lasted because they didn't get it. But it also comes and goes and swings back and forth in games. As far as this article showing that the myth is "thoroughly de-bunked", not so fast. From your article: What did the statistics and analysis say about the he 2016 Bills vs the 2016 Arizona Cardinals in the 1st quarter? This article is based on stats from 2 - 17 years ago. Football is not played in a vacuum. It's played by people on the field and the emotions and state of mind of the players ON THE FIELD in the moment. Making decisions like this in real football games would be akin to figuring out which number to play in roulette by watching that board showing the past 10 numbers landed on IMHO. It's apples to oranges. Different teams, different situations, heck, the way the NFL is, different rules. Just curious, do you think momentum and emotions played ZERO part in the world's biggest comenback by Frank Reich and the Bills? Or can it all be explained by statistics and analysis? -

I can't either Gug, but I was responding to mannc who maintains it is a myth that has been "thoroughly de-bunked" by stats. -
4th & Goal From The 1. TD Or FG?
reddogblitz replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How exactly has "the momentum myth" been thoroughly debunked? i've been watching football a long time and have seen momentum shift in games many many many times. A couple of examples for our own Bills. In 2013, Bills vs Bengals. Bills get 4th and 1 down on the Bengals 1 just before the 1/2. Thaddeus Lewis at QB. Bills go for it and get stuffed. Fired up Bengals drive 99 yards for the TD. We end up losing. In a playoff game vs the Titans, Bills QB fumbles football out of back of EZ for a safety. Titans fans and players are super fired up and take the kick and score a TD. Thier ONLY TD of the game. Analytics and stats work much better in baseball because it's one on one, batter vs pitcher. In football there it's 11 on 11 and the players change frequently. So, I disagree with your assertion that momentum is a myth. Can you point to any evidence supporting your theory? My opinion is that momentum is viewed as unimportant is made by people with thier head up thier stat sheet. Emotions and momentum are super important in football IMHO. -
4th & Goal From The 1. TD Or FG?

No. See my comment about shifting momentum. The emotional part and momentum are huge in football. They don't call it the Big Mo for nothing. -

Take the points. our defense was playing well, it's the first quarter, our offense appears to be working pretty well since we were able to get down there. If we don't get it its a major let down for our offense and nothing fires a team up like a goal line stand. It's the most macho play in football. A sure fire momentum shifter. Good call Rex. I was at the game and everyone wanted to go for it. When Chandler and Schmidt ran on the field I stood up and cheered. TAKE THE POINTS. Good call Rex. -
Maybe we just need a coach that can suit the offense to Hotrod's skills and limitations? Sort of like Mike McCoy did for Tebow. Or like what Derek Bevell did for Russell Wilson in his rookie year.

Onerous regulation and interference will only make the price higher. This will only help the black market to continue to thrive. To my way of thinking that's one of the advantages of legalization. Take the criminal element out. This seems backwards. Maybe they should have state stores like some states do for alcohol? Washington State did until a couple of years ago. Pennsylvania had them too. Not sure if they still do. -
Yeah, Let's make it more like professional wrestling.

All I saw today was then last few plays of the last drive. As rOOt says he made several horrible crunch time bad passes. We already have a QB that can do that. Not worth it.

Tom Coughlin was at the stadium
reddogblitz replied to BuffaloPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps, but actually I think it was because Rex watched the Super Bowl with Terry and Kim. Rex turned on the charm and schmoozinator and snowed the rookie owners and they were hooked. Think about it, Rex would be a fun guy to watch the Super Bowl with. Someone like Doug Martine perhaps? If we were to be looking for a coach, and Kim and Terry like you, want an up and coming college coach, how about Jim Mora Jr. He has NFL coaching experience/success. He has gotten UCLA from dog meat to a really good team. He gets great play from his QBs. Michael Vick, Hundley, and Rosen. -

Gilmore face mask tackle on Marshall -Fined 9k+

I forgot Fitz and TO. Of course we also have a new addition in Robert Woods on the current roster. -
^^^^^^^This I'm glad we got Jones. But I don't want him anywhere near the field this year. He's under contract. He's not going anywhere. We've thrown a lot of QBs out there to see what they can do (Trent, JP, EJ) and the common denominator is they all failed. Leave Jones on the pine to learn. He can get some practice by running the scout team. If we want Jones to succeed, don't rush him IMHO

My personal favorite TBD whipping boy of all times remains Chris Kelsey. We have several now. EJ, Gilmore, and new this year, Hotrod. -
Some of y'all are making this too complicated. Coach Moron followed Woody Allen and Steve Miller's advice, Take the Money and Run.

Great, so when we win all of y'all will say it doesn't count, just like the last time we beat them. -
