Totally. You take one thing that is very addicting, gambling, and marry it up with another thing very addicting, cell phones. What do you think is going to happen? But somebody is gonna make a ton of money off of it so it's all good.

Hats off to all veterans who served in war. You have my ultimate respect.
The only explanation I can come with on the complexity of this rule and others is the subjectivity is a feature, not a bug. It gives the refs/league/Vegas wiggle room when needed to influence the outcome.
I loved those screens. The Buffalo Bills still own those Coach Gailey game films. I often wish the coaching staff would dig some of those out, dust them off, and shamelessly copy some of the screens. Can you imagine Cook getting the football in space with blockers in front of him like Fred did? Cook could score 10 TDs by Perl harbor Day if we did that.
Deffering on the road also gives the visiting offense a possession without a loud crowd since a lot of the crowd are not back in their seats and ready to howl on the first possession of the 2nd half.
However I think the OPs argument makes sense too. Our defense is the weaker of the 2 units hands down. Keep them off the field as much as possible. One way to do this is to keep them at the start of the game and give them a lead to hold.
Normally I like getting the football 1st on the 2nd half but since our defense can't stop anybody I might reconsider.
Get our best unit out there first. I like it. We want the ball and we're gonna score.
I always want to strangle Coach McDermott when he starts calling defensive time outs with less than a minute left in the 1st half. It gives the QB time to talk to the coach. Guys get a blow and a drink of water. And what happens is they score with 10 seconds left and we don't have time to do anything anyway. This is not the 1st time this has happened.
I'd prefer for the other team to feel the pressure of the clock. Have to run up and spike it. Make them call their own timeouts. Especially with a young QB. Seems like we're helping them by calling timeouts.
