Close Encounters of the Music Kind
BringMetheHeadofLeonLett replied to Chef Jim's topic in Off the Wall
I like to think I've been a breath of inspiration to Ms. Raitt over these past many years. I was there on the closing night of Sweetwater in Mill Valley, when as chance would have us locked together, Bonnie Raitt needed to use the restroom, and I was helplessly stuck in her way in a packed house. We looked, simultaneously adoringly and helplessly into each others' eyes, shared inquisitive yet hopeful breaths, and somehow moved humanity with our mutual understandingness. She found the bathroom she'd been seeking, and I believe she's been rocking the world ever since. -

I remember watching this Gem at the Northstar in SF... feels like 8 lifetimes ago. I was so excited thinking 'finally, we've got a real quarterback!!' -
Roe vs Wade Overturned

There are no Dems. There is no us and them. There are Americans, and there are dipshits. Americans make this country work. Dipshits argue its demise. -

I hadn't realized Biden was trying to overthrow our government- thanks for the head's up. Seriously?? You can look at the momentary economic downturn, but we're playing it mostly smart- Russia's eating ***** militarily and economically, and you can be damn sure China is looking at all this and rethinking a Taiwan invasion. I feel horrible for Ukraine getting stuck in a proxy war, but the turd countries (Russia/China/NK) of this world will come out with an attitude adjustment- so yes, Biden is leading us better than that (*^*&%^$^#Putin-licker... I can't even believe there is a single (non- Rooskii) American who would support that *****tard former President of ours, but whatever. Maybe we should hold out support for a fledgling, and very brave, democracy until we finally find the truth about Hunter Biden... for whatever that matters... dip*****. GWB led us in awful ways post-9/11. This country is still shell-shocked by his pussification of American policies (pointlessly securing everything, thinking the American people are a bunch of wimps), and starting a completely BS war for his Daddy in Iraq. Bush and Cheney started the most powerful systems for spying on Americans this country has ever known- and you pussies cheer it on, like it's keeping you safe. All giant systems are incompetent and corruptible. Speaking of Daddy and St. Ronnie, those imbeciles quintupled our national debt- making a policy of handing the future earnings of the working-class over to the wealthy right now... in some misguided attempt to create jobs by borrowing against a future the labor of America would need to pay back (and if that doesn't make sense to you, you're probably enslaved to corporate america until the day you die), they set all the lunatics free onto our streets- look it up, they invited undocumented workers, on an unprecedented scale, to come to the US and compete with Americans for their jobs- you want a wall?? ... go back in time and talk to Mr. Reagan about why you need that wall. Nixon... at least he had the decency to step down after trying to pull off his scumbaggery. And don't get me wrong, I despise Clinton with a passion and think Obama was ineffective at best. Indecent, however, is the most charitable word I can give to the Republicans I've seen in my lifetime.

Y'all might want to talk to your fellow constituents about not supporting wing-nuts who have no appeal in the civil election. This is a problem the right wing brought upon itself, but was too stupid to expect.

I've got an older pop and a couple much older (10 & 12 years) brothers, so I kinda get to watch them to see where I'm headed haha. So far I haven't needed pharma meds (and have told my doc I'd prefer to avoid them if possible- I trust my body to regulate up to this point), beyond cortisone in my biceps tendon every few years. My pop takes a regimen of supplements. So far he's convinced me that turmeric is good for the joints, and eyeball supplements (lutein or the spendy ones) are good too. I don't eat much fish, so I added omega's. My gal got me taking D, C, E and biotin. She calls the biotin a women's secret to hair thickness and nail health. I definitely noticed they both grow faster and healthier... not sure about thicker on the hair, but I'd say holding steady at the very least. I started taking multi's as an insurance policy for my somewhat questionable eating habits. I'm somewhat consistent, but not religious on any of it. I throw in the occasional fibers for arterial plaque too. Of course, not knowing if I'd be any worse off without any of it, I have no clue if it's all just a waste of money haha. -

With all the charges and accusations swirling around quite a few NFL players, I'd say this is a bit past due. Sorry if anyone's sentimentality for a world that never was is harmed along the way.

Strongest Conference Foe
BringMetheHeadofLeonLett replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
Funny timing. For the 18 years of the Pats****** heyday, the AFC generally sucked. Now we get good and the rest of the conference goes into a nuclear arms race.- 76 replies

You can always go the Vegas route and plunk a grand or 2 down per ticket on them to win the AFCCG. If they win, a bunch of your costs are covered.

Brandon was GM for the Maybin pick, and Manual was clearly Whaley's guy, thus the save-his-own-ass idiotic trade up for Super Sammy. There's plenty of reasons to go after Nix if you're so inclined- no need to rewrite the man's work. I liked Nix overall. Poor guy was stuck between ol' 'cash to cap' and having a frickin' concrete weight in Doug Whaley chained to his leg. But we actually looked like a football team out there. For the first time in a decade I didn't feel like an NFL Europe team got plopped into the middle of the AFC East. sure we didn't seriously compete with NE, but we did finally beat them under his tenure. I like Nix.

RD 1, Pick 23: CB Kaiir Elam, Florida
BringMetheHeadofLeonLett replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall
Looking at the Bills coaching staff with DB's reminds me a lot of what the Dodgers do with pitchers. If Zierlein's write up here is close to accurate, this is all fixable.. except maybe the run D/tackling- that'll be up to his teammates to correct and inspire. Sounds like a 2 year project who is going to get thrown into the fire day 1, whether he likes it or not: By Lance Zierlein NFL Analyst Draft Projection Round 1 NFL Comparison Jaylon Johnson Overview Elam is the next up in a long line of talented Florida cornerbacks, but he failed to play his best football in his final collegiate season. He is patient and strong to mirror and impede releases but inconsistent staying connected to the early stages of the route. He plays with good awareness in zone and has the twitch and length to make plays on the throw when squatting in space. He was beat on deep patterns against Alabama, Arkansas and Georgia, which might have led to excessive grabbing and an overall lack of trust in his technique on the 2021 tape. He plays big at the catch point but smaller in run support. Elam has early CB3 and eventual CB2 value as a press and zone corner. Strengths Desired size, length and strength for press man. Well-balanced with ability to crowd and stuff the release. Patient feet rarely fall for release fakes. Able to swivel hips and pursue with fluidity. Mirrors shifting routes with basketball agility. Rarely bites on the cheese against double moves. Allows receiver to close the cushion for him in Cover 3 and quarters coverage. Squeezes deep sideline routes with physicality. Contested catches are typically tilted in his favor. Solid transition quickness to plant and drive on the throw. Some improvement in his tackling on 2021 tape. Weaknesses Loses his leverage unnecessarily. Allows a little too much clearance early in the route. Needs better open-and-sprint timing when squatting underneath. Vertical specialists can overtake and stack him. Inconsistent digesting route combinations. Too much panic and grab in his 2021 tape. Can improve his eye balance between the man and the ball. Doesn't play to his size in run support duties. Inconsistent coming to balance as open-field tackler. -

Smart move. Don't know much about the prospect, but with 2 safeties who can cover his rookie ass while we wait for #1 to get healthy- I like this concept. Now trade up and get us a bad-ass LB or RB.
