  1. all this article is about is a writer who is sore after his beloved Steelers lost a big nationally televised game. Allen was fine yesterday & anybody that can not see his tremendous upside really does have an agenda. The steeler fanbase is the very definition of a spoiled rotten fanbase. It is going to be fun watching that organization try to find another franchise QB after Big ben retires, which should be very soon.
  2. There is a town about 25 miles or so east of Phoenix called Maricopa, Arizona. The houses look beautiful there & not at all that pricey. The taxes are unbelievably cheap. I was thinking of when I get in my 50's & my kids are out of college buying some real estate out there. My job they let you work remote & I wouldn't mind spending the winters out there. You got any inside thoughts on that town?
  3. yeah I never quite understood that decision by Miami. Culpepper was a shell of his former self when he got there.
  4. Yes, the AFC East has dodged a bullet there. Miami being Miami couldn't get past the shoulder injury & signed Culpepper instead. Imagine going against Brady & Brees 4 times a year. I always liked Brees but I am point where I wish the dude would just hang it up. I am sick of watching him. The Saints will make a big time mistake next year if they don't decide to part ways with brees & try to resign Bridgewater.
  5. Marty was a complicated situation. His winning % was great, his teams came up small in the biggest games. I think management got tired of him & his conservative coaching style.
  6. Agreed, that is why I said in hindsight. The smart play was to keep Rivers, no doubt about it. Looking back at both careers, I would of rather built my team around Brees. Rivers always struck me as a guy that puts up great stats but comes up small in big games. I think his playoff record justifies that comment. Also a few years San Diego was loaded, had home field advantage & would get upset at home in the playoffs. The jets game comes to mind when they upset them at Qualcom
  7. They should of never got rid of Brees. They kept the wrong QB in hindsight.
  8. I was there, sat in the top row of the upper decks. We contemplated leaving at halftime but we paid I believe $45 for the tickets & back then being broke college kids we decided to stick it out & try to get our money's worth. When the Bills score their first TD to make it 35-10 my one friend made a comment & said "the sad thing is probably at least half the people in the stadium think we still have a chance of winning." The funny thing was as the game got closer we looked out the stadium & could see people climbing the fences. That was the greatest sporting event I was ever at. I was also at that Jacksonville playoff game when Kelly got knocked out. There was an eerie feeling about that game as we walked out to the parking lot after they loss. I remember thinking to myself "ah they will reload next year & be right back at it." Little did I know that would be the last playoff game played at the Stadium. That was 23 years ago. Also, I remember the temps were in the 50's that day. Can't blame the weather for not selling out that game.
  9. That is actual attendance. The only two home games that did not sellout were Houston & Jacksonville. That 61K Oakland game was sold out believe it or not but had about 20K no shows because the temps with the wind chill were like -20 that day.
  10. A lot of things in play for that game why it didn't sellout. They just got smoked up at the Astrodome on Sunday night by the same Oilers that we had to play the following week. That gave the division to Miami & had to settle for the Wildcard. That might seem like a nice opportunity now but back then fans were spoiled, coming off of two back to back #1 seeds. Several starters were hurt including Kelly & Bennett & I believe Thurman Thomas also. Back then too, there was no online stuff, moving 25-30K tickets in 4 - 5 days would be a tall task for any team. Also, remember back then the stadium held over 80K people. That was the only home playoff game besides Kelly's last game against Jacksonville in which the blackout was not lifted. A lot of things in play. They still got I think 72 thousand + there, which would be a sellout today.
  11. I am not arguing that more teams would be fun. I think the NCAA Tournament is the greatest sporting event of the year & 90% of that field has no chance of winning that. But if your looking for a true National Champion, you really only need 4 teams. Also, football is a bit different with the wear & tear on the players. Like Bill in NYC said, it is a lot too ask these kids to extend the season like that. Say if you had an 8 team playoff right now with the Power 5 getting their champ in + 3 wildcards it would look something like this: Lsu vs Notre Dame; Ohio ST vs Georgia, Clemson vs Alabama & OU vs Oregon. That would be fun, no denying it, I am just not sure it is practical.
  12. Hoboken sucks. I guess it is great if your in your 20's & want to do the bar scene every night. Other than that you could have it. My friend lives down there, I took my son there for a few Mets games this summer. My son couldn't believe the lack of greenery & all you see is concrete everywhere. My son actually told me when we were going back to the airport "Dad I would hate to live here, it must be depressing."
  13. My son played a few years back in a baseball tournament in Hershey, PA. It was in Mid April I believe. Driving there once you got by Williamsport it was weird all of sudden the grass was green, the flowers were all bloomed. I couldn't believe it compared to everything that was brown and not bloomed from WNY to Williamsport. It is amazing what a few miles south does for the weather, especially early winter & early spring. The weather gets to me a bit here & I don't see myself staying here for the winters when I am in my 50's. With that being said it is not as bad as the rest of the nation makes it out to be.
  14. Why do they need to expand the playoffs? They got the three teams in that deserve to play for the NC. Oklahoma is the best of the rest I guess but I will be shocked if LSU doesn't beat them by at least 10. Oregon/Utah/Alabama/Notre dame/Georgia - They shouldn't of loss that second game if they wanted to get in.
  15. For the guys who mentioned Gus Johnson, to me he belongs on CBS doing March Madness. It was a sad day for college basketball when he left to go to Fox. I like Kevin Harlan & I like Tesitorre. Musberger & Jackson were also good. I don't get why you guys complain announcers not making intelligent points & such. I like guys that get excited & try to bring the emotion of the arena/stadium into your living room. A guy like Pat Summerral was so boring. I will never forget NCAA Tournament BYU/Florida when Fredette was playing for the Cougars. Cougars tied the game with about 20 seconds left on a Jimmer 3 & Johnson screams to len Elmore "if your BYU do you foul" Elmore screams "Gus it is a tie game for Christ Sakes" Not one of Gus' finer moments but no one brought the Madness like Gus Johnson. He seems out of place at Fox.
  16. I think Clemson is out if they lose. You don't follow College Football do you? It is pretty simple why LSU would be in, they have beaten Texas, Florida, Texas A&M, Alabama & Auburn. There is not a team in this country that can match that resume.
  17. He could care less about the Bills or their fans. He has owned us for 20 years.
  18. I originally thought this but if you look at the free agent QBS next year there are plenty of options. The Patriots I think are done with him after this season. I could see BB going after Bridgewater. I think Brady may retire. He looked really miserable out there Sunday. Why go to another team, what is the point.
  19. They should make the draft like the MLB has it. You could get drafted out of high school & follow your MLB dreams but if you go into college you are not eligible to reenter the draft until after your junior year. This way if a kid doesn't like where he is drafted out of high school he could hone his skill in college. I think it is tough to win with one & doners in the tournament unless the talent is superb. There is such an advantage in a tournament setting of having upperclassmen leadership especially in the backcourt. I think K & Cal are starting to realize this. They will still go after the one year players but it takes supreme talent to win it all with that kind of setup. Duke couldn't do it last year & that was a once in lifetime freshman class.
  20. I stand corrected Michigan stinks & they should of fired Harbaugh the moment that game ended. You are correct sir, Michigan stinks.
  21. Yeah that was ages ago, unless Rod Woodson & Greg Lloyd are suiting up for this game, I like the Bills chances.
  22. Michigan is better than Auburn imo & Whisky & Minn are close.
  23. You dump it in the back of your neighbors yard when he is not home.
  24. I have said it for years, it is not so much they call more penalties on NE's opponents it when they call the penalties. They call penalties that benefit NE in crucial times. KC neutral last year, this tripping call this year. For the life of me I don't understand the bias either. You would think the NFL wants to get new teams in the Super Bowl. It is mind boggling.
