This was one of more memorable threads in the history of TBD, along with NJSue, RIP, looking for homework help. Sad news indeed. Rest in Peace.

Have Bills ever won a game on a Hail Mary?
Ned Flanders replied to pennstate10's topic in The Stadium Wall
We were in the upper deck, visitors side, in one of the tunnels, watching the final drive. Hooks scores and the place, with what fans remained, erupts. I hear guys screaming, rushing out of the bathroom behind us...some still trying to pull their pants up, trying to see what the hell just happened. 😂 -

1981 vs. New England. I was there. Hooks' catch before the TD was even more remarkable.- 44 replies

Think about this whenever the commercial comes on...hopefully the Jardiance lady and the dancers work there.

I thought McCourty and Barber did a decent job on the broadcast yesterday. At times I thought, Barber's voice sounded a lot like Steve Tasker.

Agree and it was good when Brandt came up to the Bills-Pats playoff blowout and he spent a good time praising the Mafia and WNY delicacies. Now, they focus on names rather than teams...Rodgers, Mahomes, a little bit of Josh here and there.

I get your points, but the TV numbers don't say the NFL is declining, in fact it's more popular than it's ever been. I'm in my late 60s and I pine for the "good old days" but the information that's available in real time blows away what was available to us just 20 years ago. 40 years ago, I would have learned on the local nightly news that the Bills had traded for Amari Cooper...today, I'm flooded with information seconds after it happened. And good luck getting highlights when you want them...I remember watching Howard Cosell's MNF halftime highlights in vain, waiting for a Bills sighting, only to have to wait until "This Week in Pro Football" on Saturday to see any Bills highlights...or in most cases, "lowlights." I get the oversaturation, I miss Charlie Jones, Curt Gowdy, and Al DeRogatis, and loath the often times endless commercials, but the product on the field and the television production has never been better. Now get off my lawn!

Hence the blue/silver uniforms to look like the Lions in 1960 and 61. The only real difference was the lack of the Detroit logo on the helmet. https://www.gridiron-uniforms.com/GUD/controller/controller.php?action=teams-season&team_id=BUF&year=1961 https://www.gridiron-uniforms.com/GUD/controller/controller.php?action=teams-season&team_id=DET&year=1961

Have you ever quit following a sports team?

I too, have many great memories of Silver Stadium...to add to yours, the annual Oriole exhibition game, which was a highlight of the summer, bat day, helmet night, and others. Saw many great players come up and I remain an Oriole fan to this day. Al Bumbry, Mike Flanagan, Bobby Grich, Don Baylor, Dennis Martinez, Mike Mussina, and like you mention, Cal, who spent the 1981 strike season playing at Silver. Silver was a special place indeed. -
10/14/24 Game 6 Bills at (NJ) Jets MNF Post Game thread

They need a basketball day at practice. Bring in Shaq and teach them how to box out a man in the paint. Lazard had too easy a position to make the catch. -
What was Sgt. Schultz? I imagine Burkhalter and Hochstetter were Nazi swine.

I follow SU hoops, but like you, not as much as I once did, especially in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s during the Big East salad days. I never missed an SU game on TV during that time and, living in the DC area, always went to the SU-Georgetown game. Last year, when SU played GT here in DC, I didn't know of it until the morning of the game...thought of going for about three minutes, and ended up passing. During the Big East glory years, I would have had tickets the minute they went on sale. There's a great ESPN 30 for 30 called "Requiem for the Big East," great show, check it out if you already haven't.
