Yahoo Pro Pick'em and Survivor Leagues
Ned Flanders replied to NCDAWG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Will there be prizes or is "bragging rights" the ultimate prize? -
Here is the key: "The NFL would be walking away from $3 billion if it ends the $1.5-billion-per-year DirecTV Sunday Ticket deal early, and Goodell’s emphasis on the satellite rights for the out-of-market package means that the league could try to keep the satellite deal in place and sell the Internet streaming rights separately. That would expand the availability of the premium package while also maintaining the significant revenue stream that comes from DirecTV." So...if next season the games are streamed by one or more outlets, and DirecTV still has the satellite rights, I would imagine fans would see some real competition here and prices would be affected, in the fans' favor, accordingly. I like the move by the NFL here...they get their $3B regardless from AT&T and they could sell the streaming rights to Google, Amazon or whoever...this could be the death-nail for DTV, however.

Charley Casserly : How teams reach their 53-man rosters
Ned Flanders replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting article, thanks for sharing. -
With COBRA, don't you pay full boat of what your employer pays for insurance? That could be over $1000/month. I would think there's some cheaper exchange plans out there, especially in NY, who has embraced the ACA.

So I'm in Dallas right now...
Ned Flanders replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was at that game and what made the screen even more annoying was that the players on the screen were going in the opposite direction than the actual players on the field. Very confusing. -
I'm convinced there's no such thing as "loyalty" or "retention" anymore...it's all a myth now, similar to the great and powerful Oz.

As as Navy veteran, I salute you!

I canceled on Monday with a year left on my contract, so I was out $130 for bailing early. The next day, Tuesday, I got the email that the equipment return instructions were coming soon in the mail. On Wednesday night, I got a call from DTV guy who identified himself as my "account representative." Said he could get me back to my original programming package for about $5 more/month ($95/month total) with FREE Sunday Ticket Max thrown in. I took the offer. I also had to get on contract for the next year. I've been a DTV customer for 19 years and was fully prepared to ditch DTV and almost didn't answer the call when I saw DTV come up on caller-id. The free Sunday Ticket was the turning point...too good not to pass up.

No, unless you're in the home market where the game is on CBS. For example, if the Buffalo CBS issue is not resolved, the Bills v. Jets game on Sept. 8th will not be shown on CBS on DTV in Buffalo. It will be available OTA of course. Whatever the situation with CBS and DTV in Buffalo, or any other market for that matter, has no bearing on the national distribution of the game on ST.

Well, less than 48 hours after cancelling DTV, my "account rep" called last night and offered me basically my same programming for about $5 more/month with FREE Sunday Ticket Max for this season. It comes with a year contract, but I'm all right with that. The CSR was one of the best since AT&T took over and the whole process took about 20 minutes. So, I'm again shackled with the DTV chains but when he said "free Sunday Ticket Max," I crumbled.
-
The CSR I talked to earlier in the week told me it's merely luck of the draw, depends who you get when you call and when you call...and a promotion may or may not appear while you're on the phone with them. I told the CSR that's a helluva business model. I still contend AT&T cell customers have the best chance of a promotion/discount and the whole notion of a "Loyalty Department" is a canard. I cancelled later that day.

Thanks again for this, very helpful. I read the fine print, and a student in the Buffalo area would work because it's based on where you're viewing the game, correct? For example, if a Buffalo student subscribed, I would see the Bills game on my TV here in Virginia, right?
-
Called to cancel DTV last night and was put on hold for 40 minutes. That just sealed the deal. Had DTV for 19 years and the CSR couldn't have been less interested in keeping me on board or even find out why I'm cancelling.

Every link on my PC and phone to "student" and "eligibility" takes you to the DTV home page. Something weird going on there.
-
Thanks, clicked on it and sez: "This page isn't working."
-
I've looked from pillar to post on the DTV site for this with no luck. Do you have a link?

Saw the 40th anniversary "Final Cut" last week in Imax. Still a great movie, but the French plantation scene serves no purpose.

D&C's Maiorana: Top 100 Players In Bills History
Ned Flanders replied to OldTimeAFLGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McKelvin will be remembered forever for a game-turning fumble and Clay had a few good games but belongs no where near a list of top 100 Bills of all time. Hell's bells, if you need a TE to help balance the list, I'd put Paul Seymour on it before him. Agree with others that Frank Reich could fit somewhere on here and Flutie, like him or not, was the QB on two playoff teams and deserves to be a bit higher. Joe D at five? Gilmore overrated and confused about Ruben Brown at 16...good guard but Reggie McKenzie I think was better. -
