  1. God, I wish this thread will soon die...
  2. The Boss tour starts tonight in Tampa, anxious to see the set list tomorrow. I'm seeing him next month here in DC. Update, set list from last night: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/bruce-springsteen/2023/amalie-arena-tampa-fl-5bbd2bc0.html America's Greatest Showman.
  3. All of them nice players...but HOF worthy? I don't think so.
  4. Heard this the other night; a one-hit-wonder staple.
  5. Made the breakup call yesterday after 23 years. CR was pleasant and when asked why I wanted to leave DTV, I simply replied "price." No real effort to retain me when I stated that YouTube TV would be about half the cost of my current DTV bill. She then proceeded to explain the equipment return process (just take it to FedEx or UPS and they will box/send). And that was that...about a five minute call total. UPDATE: Nice guy from DTV "retention department" called the house last night and asked if there was anything he could do to change my mind. Told him, nope, I've already disconnected and boxed the equipment and am ready to take it to FedEx. I reiterated that "price" was the main factor in me quitting DTV after 23 years, understood and did not even try to counter YouTube TV's monthly fee. Kinda felt sorry for the guy, actually... Hard to think DTV will be around in five years, but I guess their niche subscriber base are those folks without the ability to get high speed internet, but even that population is shrinking.
  6. Was hoping John Brown would score last week just to see what obscure former Bills player CBS would use for his picture.
  7. In honor of the late, great Jeff Beck
  8. More than loving the team, he loved the community. "Jackson spends much of his time participating in community service, and is an advocate for the Food Bank of WNY. The NFL running back is also a spokesman for the United Way, the Billieve campaign for breast-cancer awareness and NFL Play 60 for youth exercise." https://nfl-pe.azurewebsites.net/prep/articles/buffalo-bills-fred-jackson-honored-by-the-jefferson-awards-foundation/ Also a multiple Buffalo Bills Man of the Year award recipient: https://www.buffalobills.com/news/fred-jackson-named-2014-bills-walter-payton-man-of-the-year-14548128
  9. I could be wrong, but I believe Fred's the third leading rusher in Bills history.
  10. Using this as a template, in no particular order and I'm sure I'll forget a few... 1. Ken Burns Baseball 2. 30 for 30: Requiem for the Big East 3. 30 for 30: The Baltimore Colts Marching Band 4. HBO: When it Was a Game 5. 30 for 30: I Hate Christian Laetnner 6. HBO: Unitas 7. 30 for 30: Steve Bartman 8. Showtime: Full Color Football, the History of the AFL (all segments available on YouTube, highly recommend) 9. HBO: Lombardi 10. HBO: The Brooklyn Dodgers BTW, cannot watch Four Falls of Buffalo...I lived through it and while I admire that team and recognize their greatness, it's simply too painful to consider sitting down and watching it.
  11. Tua, Teddy, or Skylar Does it matter? I wish it was colder
  12. Making the call sometime this week as well...been with them since 2000. With their monthly bill at $122, with no add-on channels, there's no justification to stay with them, Going with YouTubeTV at almost half the cost.
  13. So, if I flip this TV the bird, the Patriots game suddenly comes on?
  14. I remember Chuck Hughes of Detroit suffering heart failure during a game against Chicago in 1971. He died hours later at the hospital. I hope to think that medical science has advanced in the last 50 years to the point that Hamlin is still alive and can recover from this trauma.
  15. Schefter said a couple of times that he's never seen an ambulance on the field, then later he seemed to backtrack. I know it doesn't happen often, but we've seen ambulances on the field before (think Kevin Everett for one). Booger certainly carried the broadcast.
  16. About five years ago, before the AT&T takeover, they wouldn't give me a break on ST, so I said, that's it, I'm out. They conceded and said they would send me boxes, etc. to send back equipment. The next day, DTV rep calls crying for me to come back, offered a big monthly discount, free ST, and a $300 gift card. I said, fine...I was out but they dragged me back in. Couple of days later, boxes arrived and it took several calls to straighten out the account. Why they just couldn't work with me in the first place was baffling.
  17. We may get away without Morse in Chicago, but he'd be a tremendous loss if he can't play in Cincinnati.
  18. Yeah, that's one downside, small as it will be. I figure I'll save $57/month by going to YTTV...that's $684/year. Even if ST winds up costing ~$400, it's still a savings.
  19. This is another good question...along with pausing and rewinding during live games.
  20. Article says DirecTV Red Zone may be axed, not Red Zone entirely, as the NFL has this product as well. I'd be fine with that...Siciliano talks over the game announcers way too much, and I find it especially annoying when they have multiple games up on the screen.
  21. A couple of questions that will need to be ironed out before September: Will Red Zone be included in the new ST? YTTV now has Red Zone but it's part of a premier add-on package. Will there be college student discounts available as is now the case with DTV? Will games be available ala-carte? This sounds less likely given the preliminary information we've gotten today.
  22. About a month ago, I was talking to my brother while he was watching the Bills game locally on YTTV and I was watching the game via ST here in Virginia. I was about a play ahead of him at the time...I yelled when the Bills intercepted and he hadn't yet seen the play. A couple of weeks ago when the Bills were on Amazon, I had to watch the first few minutes on my phone, got back to the house and the phone was more than a play ahead of the TV...weird.
  23. Me on the morning of Jan. 9: "Hello DirecTV, cancelations please." DirecTV: "You are caller number 732...please stay on the line."
