  1. Its a combination.. Neither trumps the other IMO... together they form a larger picture. The combines is mostly pure analytics, but the combine has turned lower rated prospects into 1st rd busts but has also found some hidden gems just the same I would agree the baseball analytics are definitely cleaner for interpretation based upon exactly what you are saying.. Its a game mostly of individual perfromace where the data can be dissected in a more cut and dry way. but its still very useful in football its just has to be scrutinized and combined with scouting and game film much more
  2. I kind of see a different player. I see a guy ahead of the curve already.. Impressive in his ball placement and pocket awareness, outside a few mistakes which any rookie is going to experience. However this weekend will be the big test of course The eyeball test is much different with Allen.. EJ had decent stats but never looked good, never looked comfortable. Allen has decent stats but actually looks like he see the field and can dissect the D some and make adjustments when necessary.
  3. analytics will get the data right 9 out of 10 times IMO.. and is still a very useful tool.. I'm sure analytics played a part in the data the bills used to justify Allen as the pick. Also analytics measures more than just stats.. Not sure if everyone understands that. There a plethora of ways to break down numbers that don't necessarily follow the raw stats. but I think it goes without saying there is more than just data on every player.. How many 1st rd QB bust have there been... How many successful QB's with sub 60% (within a few % points) have gone on to have successful QB careers over the last 2 decades?... Like you (the OP) said there are plenty of individual case by case scenarios that need to factor in. SO the best scouts GM's coaches can use data and the eyeball test / film and more to form the full picture and to put players in the best spots to succeed.
  4. I only follow the bills.. I've never really cared about watching any other games... Never really interest me.. Once the teams I have emotional attachment have played their game or have been eliminated (Sabres / Bills) I'm done... I just cannot watch a sport if a Buffalo team is not representing. No interest no matter the sport
  5. No doubt, just look at Hughes 1st seasons with Buffalo. Easily his best years with us and that was because Mario was commanding double teams on the opposite side.
  6. I don't think its even a question, a man like Mack knows its Bleu Cheese or bust. His Momma didn't raise no fool I'm sure
  7. Well he could take off, circle the airport 2 or three times and then land again, that would be a good sign eh!
  8. But the free wings for life does not go into affect until he retires or moves on from Buffalo.. Can't slow the man down in his prime.
  9. They'll need a player for this year to replace Mack add depth... I could see them wanting a player now and a next years 1st plus more.
  10. IMO its not all about what the raiders want its just as much about the size of the contract... Beane seems to have a financial plan in place. but if they plan spending money in FA next year then maybe you move that money over to Mack. We should hear something of a buzz within the next 24 hours if the Bills are inquiring IMO
  11. its fun to ponder, but my gut says Beane has a plan in place and giving up a boat load of picks and paying out such a large contract is not part of his long term plan. But what do I know... he could be calling the Raiders right now
  12. I'm a huge Dead fan and I did not know that's where the song came from... Cool info
  13. more like the 70's in this case.. Psychedelics and weed were one thing but that all turned into cocaine downers and heroin in the 70's. Narcotics are bad MKay, unless you are holding and were hanging out then its all good
  14. We really do not know what we got because of the camp battles, the youth and with Coleman... But my money says we are in better shape then many think and it will truly come down to how the QB plays alongside of our OL..
  15. McKenzie Phillips , she was having a sexual relationship with her father John Phillips (Mamas and the Papas) and all drugged out for years, claiming she did cocaine with her Dad at 11 years old... That is just really messed up...
  16. then I say bring all 5 ... let's get freaky
  17. who needs hard knocks.. this embedded stuff has been pretty cool do they have one of these embedded's for the OL performance last week... That one won't be pretty
  18. The choice was Betty or Wilma who is Bobbie Joe ?
  19. Coleman, I say he definitely makes this team. As long as he putting in the time and showing the coaches he's willing to work they'll keep him. They traded for him because they were unhappy with the their options and didn't feel comfortable with the players who would of occupied the 4th and 5th slots
  20. Betty all day long
  21. yeah this one's working for me
