Joe Namath wants Jets to clean house & start over
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Sure, NFL teams are lining up to help the Jets. The best they can do is someone else's 3rd stringer or a street free agent(who is on the street for a reason). It's too late to get someone else in to salvage the season, they had the offseason to do that & failed to get Rodgers an adequate backup, probably because they already had too much cap money dedicated to the QB position, because of the drain Wilson's 1st round contract caused, and Rodgers huge deal. -

White left as a free agent and returned home to the Dolphins. He wasn't interested in returning to NY when he could play where he grew up. -

Have you seen Wentz play the last couple of seasons? If you're looking at stats, he looks a lot better on paper than he has on the field. Since the teams look at film instead of stat sheets, they've seen enough to not want to sign him. He reminds me a lot of Paxton Lynch who was last seen playing in the XFL. -

Russell & Leaf also made it 3 seasons, which appears to be the path Wilson is on. Only the 49ers had the courage to dump Lance after 2 seasons, mainly because they had a starting QB on a 7th round rookie contract & were better able to withstand the cap hit trading Lance triggered. Trubisky got 4 years in Chicago. Nobody wanted Wilson's contract so the Jets were better off cap wise keeping him, although they could have brought in someone else behind Rodgers & kept Wilson on the bench. The problem was they didn't have the guts to say he is a bust & relegate him slowly into oblivion. -

I heard about a story from a long time ago in Buffalo. Joe Namath was in Buffalo & this heavy-set woman comes up to him & tells him that he's her favorite player. He signs an autograph for her: "To my biggest fan, Joe Namath" -

He's blaming them for drafting Wilson & not replacing him by now. Imagine if we had drafted Rosen & then brought in a veteran to replace him in 2020 & had to keep Rosen for salary cap reasons and the veteran got hurt & was out for the season in the 1st series. This board would be calling for Beane's & McDermott's jobs. Heck, people are calling for their jobs every day around here now. -

A Few Thoughts from the Commanders Game.....in no particular order
Albany,n.y. replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I had a few problems with the broadcast crew. On an obvious Bills 1st down on a running play, they said he was short. On an obvious Offside they were clueless what the flag was for. Finally, Matt Ryan got his teams mixed up. He said he was with Van Demark in Atlanta when it was actually last preseason in Indianapolis. I guess that whole Indy experience last season is something he wants to forget. -
How many points will the Fish score this week?
Albany,n.y. replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
77, this time they go for the record. Unfortunately for them, the Bills score 84, on 2 late TDs, win by 7, and get the record that Miami thought they had achieved. -
He made his money coaching a HOF QB. Now he's coaching a washed up QB who is draining the salary cap & his D is bad. A lot of coaches who are average look great with a HOF QB. That's why when you look at their records without the HOF QB, they're very mediocre. QBs make coaches, not the other way around. QBs ruin coaches, not the other way around.

Will you say the same thing when Hailey is in a box with Josh's parents & they keep showing her cheering every time Josh throws a TD? Why? The place is empty except for the fans passed out on the floor.

We lose 47 more suiciders if Arizona wins.

INT, you can start laughing again.
-
Don't laugh until the game ends. Arizona blew last week's lead vs the NYG.

Mahomes done for the day, rested in the 3rd quarter leading 41-0. The Bears are who we thought they were!

I still remember the posts in 2018 from his fans who thought he would do so well that we'd have a QB controversy when he led the team back to the playoffs and instead they saw him traded before the season started. https://www.cincyjungle.com/2023/9/23/23886788/aj-mccarron-bengals-alabama-football

Oh no, poor billionaires losing money.

How did you hear the movie? When I was a kid they used to have a box with the sound at your parking space that you put on the driver's side of the car. I don't know when they started using radio frequencies because I haven't been to a drive in theater in decades. -

I think it's 13 home TV games if you count ESPN & the NFL Network. My problem will be the Amazon & Peacock games. I usually go to OTB & watch it for free with my Allen jersey on, but I won't know until I go there tomorrow if the have the new Sunday Ticket, I'm assuming they do. They close at 7:30 so the Thursday games are out at OTB. So, for 2 games (3 because I'll be out of town for one of the 13 games on TV) it's not worth it to pay $ for what I can see (legally) for free. Things have definitely gotten tougher though the last few years. I used to be able to watch just about anything for free with no sign up a few years ago. All the cable shows & shows from GB & Canada. Then that site got shut down & it's been harder to watch streams more recently. It seems the only place there hasn't been a crackdown are the free porn sites. I guess that would rile up too many powerful people. -

The crackdown appears to be working. In 2020 I could find all the Bills games somewhere on the internet, it was the Covid year & I didn't want to go out & watch them in a crowded place. Last year I could find all the Thursday night Amazon games available on sites with no sign up. This year I cannot find any anonymous sites with the Thursday night game. -
Worst coaching west of Chicago. I had it with Staley in 2021. I bet the over on the Chargers wins based on Herbert being in his 2nd season & I figured anyone would be an upgrade over Anthony Lynn. I tiered the bets so that if they won a certain number of games I'd break even & more games I'd win money. After a quick start where I was very confident that I'd win all the bets, I watched Staley make some wild decisions that cost the Chargers multiple games. I lost all but the bet with the lowest win total that was a push. Years later, Staley still has never learned to coach. I structured the bet similar to what I had done in 2019 with the Bills. After watching Josh as a rookie, I was confident that the Bills would win around 10 games & make the playoffs in his sophomore year because of improvements on the O-line & WRs. I tiered the bets to break even at 8-8, and win it all if they won 10 & made the playoffs. I cashed every future bet that year & had the same theory on Herbert's 2nd season. Herbert will win a lot of games once they get rid of Staley.

Maybe, but they were missing S. Barkley & A. Thomas. Best player & best lineman. Tough to have much offense with these 2 out. As long as they're out the Giants are in trouble. On a side note, I was listening to the Giants radio broadcast & they were criticizing the WRs for not going for balls in the air. On the play they were all over Hodgins for not going after a deflected ball that ended up being intercepted by the 49ers. Not a good reflection on the Giants coaches.

What a disaster the 2021 QB class has been after Trevor Lawrence went off the board at #1. The 1st round has 3 potential busts including Trey Lance who was jettisoned for a 4th & for SF he's officially a bust already. Mac Jones is JAG. The 3rd rounders & beyond are backups or practice squad players. No. 1: Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars No. 2: Zach Wilson, New York Jets No. 3: Trey Lance, San Francisco 49ers No. 11: Justin Fields, Chicago Bears No. 15: Mac Jones, New England Patriots No. 64: Kyle Trask, Tampa Bay Buccaneers No. 66: Kellen Mond, Minnesota Vikings No. 67: Davis Mills, Houston Texans No 133 Ian Book New Orleans No 218 Sam Ehlinger Indianapolis
