  1. Go take a look at past drafts & 1st rounders who were let go for peanuts fairly early in their careers. The odds of a 1st round QB failing & getting traded for a mid to low round pick and making it are slim & none. The only guys who are let go & come back from a trade or release are low picks & undrafted guys like Marc Bulger & Kurt Warner, ironically both with the Rams. The league is strewn with former 1st round busts who at best hang on as backups.
  2. I'm calling BS on David Bonilla. My guess: The Bills offered an 8th rounder.
  3. Now the Jets have an idea what Zach Wilson's value is.
  4. If the 49ers believe he's a bust, it's a great deal to get rid of the obligation of paying him the next 2 years. In fact, the Cowboys should have demanded a draft choice from the 49ers to make the deal, like Cleveland did when Houston sent Osweiler to them.
  5. It doesn't take a team very long to figure out a QB doesn't have it. They see him in practice every day. QBs who show that they're not good enough can get jettisoned pretty quickly. Here are 2 examples: 1) Josh Rosen, pick 10 in 2018-Arizona knew he was a bust after 1 season and shipped him off when they could still get something back for him. There were plenty of people who thought Miami stole him from Arizona. He was on waivers before his 3rd season in the league because Miami saw enough of him to see he didn't have it. 2) Brian Brohm, 2nd round pick GB 2008. Placed on waivers after preseason his 2nd year in the league. A real tell was nobody claimed him. I still remember the optimism of Bills fans when we signed him off GB's practice squad and I was accused of hating him by the people who "saw him play in college" when I tried to tell them that the Bills management at the time wasn't going to be outsmarting the top GMs in the league who had no interest in him when GB waived him before his sophomore season.
  6. You're right. There's an article in The Athletic that says the roster bonus was due at the beginning of camp. The problem for a team trading for his contract still owes him $5.3 million next year-A lot of $ to gamble on turning around a guy who hasn't done anything of note yet & would be a free agent at the end of next season (unless he is thrust into the starting job, lights it up & the team picks up his 5th year option) https://theathletic.com/4800908/2023/08/24/trey-lance-49ers-options-trade-release/ While the 49ers would incur a dead-money hit of $8.4 million in 2023, they’d clear $940,000 in salary-cap room by offloading Lance’s contract, which is fully guaranteed because he was a first-round pick. They’ve already paid Lance a $2.82 million roster bonus, which was due at the start of training camp, so a new team would owe him only that $940,000 base salary for this season.
  7. At $3.7 million this year and $5.3 next year all guaranteed, that's a hard NO. https://overthecap.com/player/trey-lance/9467 Year Base Salary Roster Bonus Total Salary 2023 $940,000 $2,820,478 $3,760,478 2024 $1,055,000 $4,255,717 $5,310,717
  8. If Barkley can't go, the Bills need to sign another QB like they did with Leinart years ago for the final preseason game.
  9. Darnold would have made a lot more sense than Lance because the Bills could sign him to a reasonable 1 year contract (assuming a SF release), not owing Lance $3.7 + million this year & 5.3 million next year. Also, even though he hasn't been very good, Darnold is a much better fit for the Bills than Lance, who is basically a clean slate that would appeal to team that rated him highly in 2021 and needs to develop a QB. Teams like Tampa, Las Vegas or the Rams would be better fits, but I still think the only way Lance gets traded is if SF eats those roster bonuses.
  10. You're missing those roster bonuses-those are the killers in the contract. Take a look at the attachment earlier in this thread that shows how much money he's owed the next 2 years & get back to us. Then what? Pay him his big roster bonus next year & accept his 5th year option without seeing him play? The guy has no future with his present contract. The best chance he has to succeed is being released by SF & signing a team friendly 2-3 year deal as a free agent.
  11. I remember Josh doing the commercial before the draft where he told Lance not to listen to the critics. There was, is, & will be only one Josh Allen.
  12. The only way a team with an established starting QB would be interested is if he renegotiated & got rid of the guarantees & roster bonuses. That's not happening, at least not in Buffalo.
  13. 1) I had a very similar impression. I think the starters took the don't get hurt seriously & it affected their play & effort. I'm sure Josh's #1 instruction was not to put himself in any danger. 2) Getting their asses kicked in Pittsburgh goes all the way back to the Jim Kelly era. Back then it was Kelly going home, now it's McDermott intimidated by Tomlin. You can't idolize the coach on the other side, that's McDermott's biggest problem coaching against Tomlin. Tomlin has been his idol since their college days.
  14. So Rodgers & Cook can watch Dalvin's brother with all their eyes from a luxury box at the Super Bowl.
  15. Considering my age and physical condition, I'm pretty happy to come within a point of the 2nd player taken in the draft. My reflexes and reaction times were a lot better 50 years ago.
  16. 5 QBs were ahead of Richardson: https://247sports.com/longformarticle/nfl-draft-2023-bryce-young-jake-haener-lead-wonderlic-replacement-s2-scores-for-rookie-qb-class-208895756/#2158087 1) Young 98% 2) Haener 96% 3) Levis 93% 3) Hall 93% 5) Tune 84% 6) Richardson 79% 7) Hooker 46% 8)Stroud 18% Josh mid 90s (I couldn't find the exact score)
  17. Stroud INT
  18. Every game the Bills lose is rigged. Seriously, just stop with the conspiracy theories.
  19. Because KC will probably win the dirtbag derby over Cleveland when they both try to sign him.
  20. Anthony Richardson. The comparisons with Josh because they're physically similar are ridiculous. Should have stayed in college like Josh did in 2017.
  21. When BASS kicks the winning FG in the Super Bowl the Teller trade won't look so bad.

  23. Leonard Floyd is better than Bill Brasky.
  24. Mama don't let your Cowboys grow up to be singers.
