  1. My honest answer: When I went game by game I had the Bills 4-12 before the season started, but I had them 3-1 after 4 games. Since I had the NE & Cincy game the other way, I'm more optimistic that they're a lot better than the 4-12 I predicted. Still, I'm not expecting them to continue winning 3 out of every 4 games they play because outside of the games vs Miami & Denver they are going to have to play to the best of their ability to beat any of the other teams on the schedule the rest of the way. I still can't see better than 8-8, even with the 3-1 start.
  2. He's the weekend sports guy for Albany's local NBC, that's right, NBC, station. He's not even the main sports anchor. Fortunately (or not, depending on your viewpoint) I had 4 guys over my house to watch the game & with all the converation, I never heard a word the announcers said.
  3. Peter King showed the rule on the SNF pregame & if you follow the rule to the letter of the law, the call was correct since the player had no intention to advance the ball at the time he put it on the ground. Now Dungy disagreed, but ever since his dirty players took out Jim Kelly's knee in 1994, when he was one of the dirtiest DCs that year at Minnesota, I've had zero respect for him.
  4. A team with a rookie QB can be very inconsistent. But, inconsistent also means the guy can be good on any given Sunday, especially when playing a home game.
  5. I do-they're at practice every day & know a lot more about these players than some guy posting on the internet who hasn't been to one closed practice. Face it, the coaches see things we never see & know more about these players than we'll ever know. That's why I find it hard to criticize any coach on who he gives playing time to because I'm not there with these guys 5-7 days a week. That is especially true when a fan suggests starting guys who the coach isn't starting, many whom have never started a game in the NFL because the team has better players already starting.
  6. I already have next week's pick down to only 1 game -The NY Giants at home vs Seattle. West to East coast road team, Seattle is only competitive at home. Here's the knock on the other games: Eagles @ Bills-After Bills loss at Cincy & Eagles shaky play, how can anyone have confidence in picking a winner in this game to survive to week 6-too tough to call New Orleans @ Carolina-The road team is the favorite, but it's a division game & sooner or later Newton is going to win one by himself. But if I had to pick a game other than the NYG game, this would be up there among my choices & I'd go with NO. Oakland @ Houston-Houston's top WR may be injured, plus I can't use Houston because I did in week 1. KC @ Indianapolis-Rule #1, never pick a bad team to beat another bad team in suicide, especially on the road. Cincinnati @ Jacksonville-see KC @ Indy. Arizona @ Minnesota-Arizona isn't good enough to trust, especially on the road & Minnesota is winless. Never pick an 0-4 team to get its 1st win in suicide. Tennessee @ Pittsburgh-Tennessee has looked good but is on the road, Roethlisberger left the game this week and was last seen in a boot. If Ben is completely healthy & ready, this could be Pittsburgh as a contender for this week's choice, but who wants to gamble on Ben being ready, especially since I have to get my picks in days before the game. TB @ SF-The 49ers are overachieving, but I prefer TB. Too dangerous for me. SD @ Denver-I lost last year on opening week playing SD on the road in a divisional game-I won't be fooled again. Plus-I've already used SD. NYJ @ NE-Way too tough to call -unless the Jets lose a lot of players at Baltimore tonight. GB @ Atlanta-No team goes undefeated. Plus, I just used GB (Which for the record was my 3rd blowout win this year in suicide out of 4 games) Chicago @ Detroit-See GB @ Atl Plus I've already used Detroit.
  7. Hairston played LT after Bell went out & I didn't see anything bad, so I don't agree with the nothing next to his name.
  8. I'm going to answer in the most positive way: Maybe they were at the 2 home games the past 2 weeks & since they are home today, it's easier to post after the game since they're not stuck in stadium traffic or doing some dinner tailgaiting.
  9. Buh Bye. Road games are a beyotch.
  10. Sal is on NOW Edit: Sal just had a great 1st segment with Ryan Fitzpatrick's high school coach. They talked about Fitz's leadership and how he was interested in a good education when he chose Harvard. Next up the Cincy game talk, then baseball completes the hour before WGR goes to HS football at noon.
  11. I think the most amazing thing was how many posters thought we were going to cut Fitzpatrick before last season-this was AFTER he had come in and was the QB responsible for 5 of the 6 2009 victories. By that point, he had proven to be the most consistent WINNING QB on the team. Most of the cut Fitzpatrick brigade used the old "Ralph is Cheap" stuff and thought just because he was the highest paid QB on the roster going into 2010, the Bills were going to cut him & save $. It was as if what he showed in 2009 wasn't enough. Now I must admit, I still viewed him as a top notch backup on a Super Bowl contender, like Frank Reich, but so far he's exceeded my expectations-which is great. I'd rather be proven wrong by him winning a Super Bowl as the starter than be right.
  12. That still doesn't make Tebow the better QB just because Levi is home & he isn't. It's much easier to send a 7th round pick home than a 1st a year later. It's only a matter of time before Tebow switches to TE or joins Levi in fron of the TV on Sundays.
  13. When Denver drafted Tebow, it was one of the worst 1st round picks of all time. The best thing Tebow can do is change positions to TE & hope for the best. Just another example of how over his head Josh McDaniels was and how insane the higher ups were to listen to him. When a team jettisons a highly drafted QB on his 1st contract, and gets virtually nothing in return, it's usually a very bad sign. The Broncos have used a 2010 1st round pick & will get a 2012 5th rounder at best-in other words, if he's let go, Denver considers him a bust at QB & it's a fire sale. Tebow is quickly becoming the Aaron Maybin of QBs. Let's get real here before people start throwing out names of other traded QBs: Favre was a second round pick traded for a 1st round pick 1 year later, Young was a special USFL draft pick traded for a 2nd & a 4th round pick, hardly the fire sale you'll see on Tebow.
  14. He's 18 for 33, 54.5 % on FG attempts >/= 50 yards.
  15. Only Drew Bledsoe throws it out of bounds on 4th down, and only a dumb DB catches it deeper downfield on 4th down.
  16. He has a show of his own on Saturday morning.
  17. This thread is about disliking Wilfork, not liking him.
  18. I heard it'd because he's always talking, like a Senator would do during a filibuster.
  19. Because no matter how cheap Ralph gets, Mike Brown makes Ralph look like a guy who is making it rain 24/7. Marvin Lewis accepts Brown as his boss and vice versa. A good coach would never go to Cincinnati under Mike Brown & a good owner would spend whatever it takes to get Lewis out of town.
  20. It's the fans of other teams who don't want to see the Red Sox in the playoffs. It gets kinda ridiculous in Boston when you go to a game vs Detroit and the street vendor with the biggest line is selling Yankees Suck tee shirts. The Red Sox missing the playoffs is especially sweet to Yankees fans because we hate their fans more than the team itself, and it's so sweet knowing how much they are suffering. In reality, the Red Sox players & management are nowhere near as unlikeable as the Patriots guys, but the fans are just as obnoxious, because for the most part, they're the same people.
  21. I went to a SF Giants game last year & there was something very similar on the streets of San Francisco as we went from the stadium to our car which was parked a few blocks away. Unfortunately, I was with my sister & her grandkids, so I couldn't sample the product.
  22. I'm in the 1st row of the 2nd tier of the endzone. Nobody is in front of me & I prefer to sit. However, when the people in the row behind me start banging on the backs of our seats & I'm getting vibrated, I stand up. Now last week the people behind me were already standing, but if someone ever told me to sit down, my answer would be- When your row stops banging on the back of our seats & bangs on their own seatbacks, I won't need to stand.
  23. Jim Rome is on fire-he started his program playing a song-We All Love The Red Sox-and he keeps playing it over & over again. Now he's talking about their epic choke.
  24. You went to sleep too early. From around 10:30 to around midnight last night, it may have been the most exciting 1.5 hours in baseball. The only game that wasn't exciting was the Cardinals blowout of the Astros. In the remaining 3 games, with each wild card contending team needing to win, all 3 of the subsequent winning teams went into the 9th behind by 1 run. In the 2 AL games, the team that was behind had 2 outs, nobody on & trailed by a run when they were down to their last out. So in Tampa, the Mgr pinch hits with a guy who is batting 119 & hasn't had a home run in months. He's down to his last strike & homers to tie the game & send it to extra innings. Meanwhile in Baltimore the Orioles get 2 quick outs & are down to their last batter. They have NOTHING to play for, yet the last batter doubles, the following player doubles, tying the game, & then the next batter gets a hit to win it. The players and fans in Tampa go wild when the game in Baltimore ends (in spite of the fact the scoreboard took about 2 minutes to post the final from Baltimore even though 90% of the people in the stadium already knew it). Then moments after the final score from Baltimore is posted in Tampa, Longoria, who earlier had a 3 run homer to cap the 6 run 8th inning, lines the ball to the only place where there is a low enough fence for it to go out as a home run. The announcers could have borrowed some of Van's material because the most appropriate line after those events is "Do you believe it!"
  25. I can't wait to listen to Jim Rome at noon today. I was listening a couple of days ago & he was very funny talking about how it's better for the Sox to complete their choke and not make it to postseason. The Curse of the Bambino is back! Babe Ruth began his major league career with the Boston Red Sox and ended his major league career with the Boston Braves. Also, Ruth a native of Baltimore Maryland, started his professional career with the then minor league Baltimore Orioles. The current version of the Baltimore Orioles scored 2 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th Wednesday to end the 2011 Red Sox season.
