What GM / Coach tandem would you look to hire?
Fixxxer replied to Bronc24's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And it feels like it was just yesterday when they were being chastised for picking a 3-4 DE with their top 3 pick and were deem inept because they couldn't trade fast enough guys like Dorsey and Derrick Johnson who were clearly unfit to play that defense. -
James Harrison pondering retirement
Fixxxer replied to smuvtalker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Harrison said what every defensive player thinks of doing to the opposition. I think he's stupid because he said it on an interview in the worst possible timing, but I can't fault the guy for playing the brand of football we all love. Lets not pretend that we wouldn't like to have a hard hitter like Harrison on our defense, all defenders go out and play to put a hurt on the other team within the confines of the rule. What do the players think? 1. Brian Urlacher "It's freaking football. There are going to be big hits. I don't understand how they can do this after one weekend of hitting. And I can't understand how they can suspend us for it. I think it's a bunch of bull. "You know what we should do? We should just put flags on everybody. Let's make it the NFFL - the National Flag Football League. It's unbelievable." 2. Steve Breaston "Say it's third-and-15 and you go across the middle. As a defender, you try to dislodge that ball so he doesn't make the catch. Now, it's what, you let them catch it? You make the tackle, but they pick up the first down? I don't know." 3. James Harrison "To really be honest, I don't think it's going to change the way I play the game. There's a lot of hoopla going around that I'm a dirty player. I'm not trying to injure anyone. It's a physical game, it's a violent game. You're going to get hurt." 4. Adrian Wilson "It's really hard because you only have that split-second to determine what to do. It's crazy. I try my best to use clear judgment and make clear decisions, but a lot of those collisions are unavoidable. You're either going to let them catch it and take a step to see what's going on, or there's going to be a collision." http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/NFL-players-speak-out-on-the-NFL-s-awful-new-da?urn=nfl-278498 -

Right now I want Nix & Gailey but with a proven and experienced DC. We're seeing imporvements on offense but the defense has been downright horrific regardless of what one think about their talent. That is a unit that can play better, no doubt. -
James Harrison pondering retirement

And yet nobody stopped the NFL from making profit out of one of his hits. The NFL made a "mistake" having photos of Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison's hit on Cleveland Browns receiver Mohamed Massaquoi available for sale through its website and will take the photos down, spokesman Greg Aiello said Wednesday. Harrison was fined $75,000 for the hit. Pittsburgh television station KDKA first reported that the photos were for sale. "We regret the mistake," Aiello said. "The photos will be taken down and we will ensure that no photos of illegal plays will be available again. An outside vendor uses an automated process to post photos for sale to fans. We will fix the process immediately." The NFL is cracking down on illegal hits to the head, vowing to suspend players for infractions starting with this weekend's games. In the past, players were either fined or ejected for illegal hits. However, after the series of recent flagrant tackles, several of which resulted in concussions, the NFL ramped up the punishment. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5706132 -
I never liked Claussen, he looked too robotic playing QB, with zero instincts, IMO. Too early to tell about his future and I think Fox didn't make him any favors by throwing him in so early. One thing is clear though, no matter how well coached he was running a pro system in college he was not the "most NFL ready QB in the draft", not by a long shot.

now THIS is how you should have used Lynch, Chan
Fixxxer replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The irony in all of this is that Gailey and Carroll utilized Lynch in the same way. Lynch getting the work on early downs with Spiller/Forsett on third downs. The only difference is that the Seahawks field a profesional defense, hence more oportunities to use the entire playbook. I love the way Lynch runs the football and I hope he does well in Seattle but to turn this against Gailey has not merit. -
I won't complain if they keep looking for options, the more the4y search/look the bigger chances they will eventually find someone that can contribute.
-
And like many profesional cyclists he sleeps on an hyperbaric chamber.

Being 0-5 as we are, I play the 3-4 exclusively, play the younger players so they can get accustomed to one defense. Play Troupe at the NT and build around him. Rotate Kyle Williams at DE, play Carrington as much as you can. Give reps to Coleman to rush the passer, ditto to Moats when healthy. Play Poz and Davis every down, rotate the outside LBs. Install the blizt packages (if Edwards has any?!) and let the kids play. I feel they're trying to do too much with their front 7 that the players are overthinking and trying to do to much. Let them know what their responsabilities in the 3-4 with a true NT and go from there.
-
Well, this day sucked for me, because I rooted for the AFC east foes to lose and none delivered.
-
That maybe one reason but I think he chose Miami over us because they were running the 3-4.

I have yet to see a poster claiming such thing. The thing is that so far Fitz has shown progress in Gailey's system. He's still has time to shou his tendendcies as a non accurate passer but in the meantime he'll receive his due props. And given that Fitz can show progress under Gailey you have to wonder how much better this offense could be with a guy like Luck or Mallet at QB and few upgrades in the OL.
-
I watched the game and he looked awful. I thought he would look decent at RT but he looked like he's not ready yet to start. I'm ok with rookies struggling with speed rushers and Wake is not an easy task but he was being pushed back to Rodgers on bull-rushes. I wanted this guy or Dan Williams at #9, it seems I was wrong on both counts.
-
So, when it fits the point what you're trying to make what they say in OBD is the thruth? Look, I'm not saying you're wrong or right but nobody knows what the reality was behind close doors. We can speculate, and with Poz I can speculate that Marv had a blast from the past with Shane Conlan and that is why he was selected where he was selected, why would I do that? because he kept going about Conlan when speaking of the Poz pick.

I still don't get the he's lucky he hasn't throw an int comment. Are Fitz's incomplete passes different from passes from other QBSs in the league?
-
I think Fitz has been making the correct reads for the most part, he lacks consistent accuracy. Watching him when he was with the Bengals and watching him with the previous regime I have yet to see a WTF interception from him this year, those that you can't comprehend what the guy was thining. His interception to the pass intended to Parrish was, IMO, the correct read as he was open in the seam, Fitz just overthrew him. Obviously he's not the guy you trust long term if he doesn't radically improve his accuracy problems. If the defense were at least average we would have won at least a couple of games.

Positives? How about Troup, a 2nd rookie taking on double teams early in his carreer. He started the game one on one, he ended being blocked by two jaguars. That means the kid can play. He is sill a rookie and he will look green at times. I like his potential. Parrish and Steve Johnson, everyone cried about TO and Josh leaving, they are showing that they can be productive and that with Easley coming back you don't have to draft a WR next year. The offense is having a pulse, it's not perfect and it has to stop shooting itself in the foot. Scoring 26 at home should be enough to win.

Wouldn't be shocked to see George Edwards fired this week.
Fixxxer replied to Cuze's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought about him but you're right, he hasn't been able to be good without Wade. Still would be better than Edwards, because he would at least know where to line up the current players we have. -
So you can't draw positives from a loss? Get real, not everything is ****.
-
But wouldn't it be better if you know it but still you try to hurry the other QB in order to not get killed by said TE? you don't blitz because you're the best, you blitz because you don't have the best personell and you never will, realistically speaking. We're playing as if we had Bruce and Reggie rushing the passer with only four. The results are painfully obvious, we can't affor to rush four because we will never get to the QB. We need to be a little more daring and I don't see it with Edwards.
-
This is what I saw, a defender taking himself out of the play. Why throw the flag? I have Sunday ticket and it happens all the time, there is some contact from a DB but the ball was not catchable, no flag. Today a Bills DL was thrown to the ground by the same technique and no flag. I thought it was a bad call by the refs. And what about that flag on Freddie for a chop block? How can you miss that play that bad as a ref? Gailey was furious about that one. About Wood, he is running hot and cold this year. He's getting beat at times. Today was a mental mistake I noticed at the beginning of the game where he failed to pick up a stunt. After that I didn't notice him in a bad light. Urbik play a couple of snaps for him.
-
Good thread Big Cat. Today they sent Reggie Corner on a blitz and two positive things hapened, the Jaguars were flaged for holding and Corner was able to hit the QB. After that? One time is enough I guess. We tried a couple of stunts but as FluffHead said the front four consisted of the all DT formation. Edwards needs to snap fast of this inept defense or he will find himself without a job.
-
Hate has no room for objectivity.
-
Sorry, but Troup was pushing his guy forward when he deflected the ball that Davis intercepted. He was one on one on that play, after that he was doubled a lot by the Jaguars.
-
For better or worse I think Whitner is one of the leaders of the defense. Kelsay is the guy other players follow in the weight room but unfortunately he can't translate all the hard work into production on Sundays. We need a guy like Talley, badly, someone that can rally his defense after a postive play.
