I have to agree but still great to see them sacking the rapist. The Bears OL was supposed to suck but we didn't even touch Cutler. It's was nice to see us putting the hurt on the QB. Both Carrington and Troup are contributing and so far they look like they belong, better technique, maybe better strength (PRO standars) and maybe they can become solid players for us for years to come. It seems Carrington being inactive was the clear case of a numbers game because he showed he can play. As you said, we need LBs that can attack the LOS, when Kyle Williams knifes through the OL there isn't one teammate killing the play after thim, we don't do this consistenly. We need better LBs.

This Game Will Be A Great Opportunity

Too damn long. Gailey is very good coach, he has his players in position to make positive plays, it's great to see. -

Was that the one where Levitre went to Harrison's legs and whiffed? -

I'm a Bell believer so I'm very glad with his performance so far. I still think he still has room to get better, mostly in the run game. Oh, and like bowery4 said the guy is not a RT, he's a natural LT. -
I rewatched the game, Coleman was virtually on every single ST tackle, I was impressed. Corto, Jones and McIntyre are great on STs. I remember back in pre-season games, Jones, Roosvelt and Nelson were big contributors for Joique Bell's numbers. You could see the guy's hunger over Chad Jackson or James Hardy. Hard work pays off with this coaching staff.

Great decision, the question is how healthy is Howard, the only depth player we have inside and he has a torn labrum. I think they will have to activate Watkins or Rinehart.

I reallly like this offense and how Gailey uses his guys. I always liked Stevie because I thought the guy was clutch when everytime he stepped on the field something positive happened. Of course it was a long shot but it seems the guy really wants to be good and he works hard at his craft. Lee Evans can be one dimensional but boy is he good at what he does, the first thing a DC does is put a guy on top of Lee so he doesn't beat them deep. The fastest way to lose a game against the Bills is leaving Lee one on one with a CB. If that becomes a commong occurence, he would lead the league in TDs and plays over 40+ consistently every year. Every time Fitz sees Lee without a safety that doesn't cheat to his side he audibles to go to him.

My theory is rather simple, the early draftees are selected by the head honchos of the moment and based on an interview with a Bills scout (can't remember his name) they get more of a stronger voice on later picks. I think the scout was the one that recommended Moats last year, damn, can't remember the guy name, I tried to find a scout list on the official site but I can't find one. It's clear where to point fingers with TD and Nix drafts. It becomes less clear with the Brandon, Levy & Jauron Era.

Maybe Tasker hates doing Bills games because he is such a big fan of the team that it's difficult for him to give us credit?

Great post Steve's hair.

a few thoughts about the game in a meaningless order

Please, hopefully God is lurking the boards and does something about it, is tiresome. -
I don't think we need to use a high pick for LT.

I've been supporting Bell since the beginning, you could see the talent but the experience and strenght were not there when he was forced to start last year by the previous regime. The only problem I have with him is his overall health, but I don't know if I have a real reason to be concerned about it. Does he still have room for improvement? Time will tellm, I think he does. I feel Levitre and Hang have been the most consistent performers (if graded individually) with Wood and Bell behind, both slowed down coming from injury. Wrotto has a very good chance of securing the RT, Gailey rewards those who can play. If he's consistent enough is his position to lose, if not Wang will be given a chance. If all of them can't rise to the ocasion a RT will be drafted and there are very good prospects in the coming draft. -
It would be interesting to know how many fumbles Fitz has in his career. I have this perception that not only Kitna always throws the interception but he has the usual fumble as well. I concede that is not a bad comparison.

Was that a great fight or what? How was it to see it live? Pacquiao is so damn fast, Margarito's face was destoyed after the fight.

I think that play was in the 1st QTR. I'll go check the play by play page. Buffalo Bills at 6:59 1-10-DET 46 (6:59) PENALTY on DET-N.Suh, Neutral Zone Infraction, 5 yards, enforced at DET 46 - No Play. 1-5-DET 41 (6:59) F.Jackson up the middle to DET 34 for 7 yards (T.McBride, A.Spievey). R3 (6:20) R.Fitzpatrick pass short left to F.Jackson to DET 28 for 6 yards (J.Peterson, A.Smith). Swing pass, caught at DET 40. 1-10-DET 34 2-4-DET 28 (5:48) F.Jackson left guard to DET 21 for 7 yards (A.Smith, A.Spievey). R4 1-10-DET 21 (5:11) PENALTY on DET-C.Williams, Encroachment, 5 yards, enforced at DET 21 - No Play. Both penalties in the same drive in the 1st QTR. http://www.nfl.com/liveupdate/gamecenter/54854/BUF_Gamebook.pdf

McNabb gets 5 year extension, $40M guaranteed
Fixxxer replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sorry but they have been worse than us, even with Guru Shanahan: Tackle Jammal Brown (-6.2) made the Pro Bowl in 2008 without really earning it, and he continued with his poor performance in this game. He allowed a sack, two hits and three pressures in just 27 pass plays before he was benched for Stephon Heyer (+0.6), who only allowed one pressure in 32 pass plays. http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2010/10/12/re-focused-week-5-packers-at-redskins/ McNabb (+1.1) found himself under pressure all day, with the Redskins’ offensive line surrendering five sacks, four hits, and a dozen more pressures on the day. The main culprits were the bookend OTs of Trent Williams (-4.3) and Stephon Heyer (-4.4) who combined to allow four sacks, a hit and seven pressures. McNabb was far from impressive in this game (even though he did make a couple of nice plays with his legs), but the problems lay elsewhere, so it was no surprise when the wheels came off with Rex Grossman behind center as well. http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2010/11/03/re-focused-week-8-redskins-at-lions/ -
Gotta love this quote from Wood

I think he should consider wearing gloves like Warner did. -
Week 4, Fitz to Martin.

I agree, he had a very solid game but he needs to learn when to go for the hit and when to go with the textbook tackle (McKelvin could learn this too). He needs to understand situational football. I don't have a problem him shouldering Megatron there, maybe he forces him to cough up the ball and the refs are forced to review the play, maybe they overturn the TD, who knows? I have a problem when he goes with his shoulder and Pettigrew only has to jump him to gain 22 yards. It happens all over the league but the good teams are the ones that make sure the ball carrier doesn't gain extra yardage if they can prevent them.
-
He was playing his natural position and had a solid first half, he wasn't much of a factor late in the game where the Lions began to pass. He's not a good or reliable pass rusher. When Edwards tries to protect a lead he only rush 3, 2 if you include Kelsay's only move, the bull rush. He would be the perfect 2 down player on most teams, he's the premier pass rusher on ours. Edwards needs to challenge Kelsay by sitting him and play other players, like Colemna or Moats.
-
I agree for the most part, but a little blame goes to either Byrd and Whitner. They're in cover 2, the Lions read the play perfectly, but if I'm Byrd or Whitner I put a lot of attention where Megatron is. They played it right giving extra help to their CBs on top but with the game on the line I don't let Poz 1 on 1 with their best receiver.

We should have kept Fewell......................... (I guess we won't see a positive Fewell thread this week) The defense is improving, today I saw some interesting blitzes. I hate when we rush only 3 though, we make it real easy for the opposition. Next week will be a great test for Edwards and the defense, hopefully they keep getting better.
