  1. Breaking bad.....
  2. I think people view character as a player being good off the field only. Nix is looking for guys with football character, meaning that the player will breath, eat and sleep football 24/7 and not be distracted by his latest contract, the car he just bought, the crib he lives in or the fame of just being an NFL player. When you draft players you think you get that guy, but for the most part the player doesn't become "a good one" because he doesn't care much for the hard work he needs to put forward to become better. That is why I think interviews and background checking is very important when studying a prospect, they need to have the production but they also have to show the drive to be better by studying film and working in the weight room. It doesn't matter if it is Newton, Fairley or Peterson, you have to try and find out that their goals include being the best they can be at football.
  3. Lamar Houston might be listed as a DT in the drafthistory page but he played DE for the Raiders, similar to Neal in GB and Odrick in Mia. College players that played inside but in the pros were projected to play DE in a 3-4. Out of the group that people wanted for NT, you can argue Troup had a better year statistically than his peers. Are you going to tell me that Troup can't become stronger and be better and more consistent with hand technique? I guess time will tell. What I like about Troup is that it seems that he will put the work required to be better.
  4. If my brother played for the Jets, Pats or Dolphins I would hate the guy.
  5. !@#$ the Jets and Pats.

  7. I tried to find out what the process of selection is but I couldn't find anything of substance about it.
  8. Singletary was on the 49ers staff when they coached Patrick Willis in the Senior Bowl.

  10. You might laugh at this statement but Fitz should try to check down sometimes. He is always looking for the big play or big gainer which is great but sometimes he ends up forcing the ball.
  11. He also had nice words about AJ Smith and the Chargers. I never heard the guy speak before so I was suprised by this interview.
  12. He had a solid game, I agree, one bad play where I think Brohm didn't read the blitz and fumbled the ball after being hit. On another note, I thought Moats was awful in run defense and given that the Jets rarely passed the ball, he was really bad in this game.
  13. Gailey did the same thing with Fitz when he took over and he did well throwing the ball. If you don't challenge your players you will never know what they can offer.
  14. Throw in that McCargo dude and you have Marv and Dick's perfect trifecta.
  15. TV schedule http://www.chiff.com/recreation/sports/bowl-games.htm Prospects link (not a great link if you look for commentary on players but a good guide of players that are entering the draft, go to prospects by conference) http://cdsdraft.com/
  16. Glad you mentioned him, he had a very solid game. Carimi is an absolute monster in the run game but not very consistent in the passing game. If I'm buddy I draft him with the prospect of moving him to the right side and forget about the position for the next 5 years.
  17. To each their own. I wonder what is Goddell thinking right now.
  18. Stevie needs 57 yards for his first 1000 yards season as a pro. 3rd straight game with a TD for David Nelson Naaman Roosevelt and Scott Chandler with their first career reception.
  19. I doubt he will want to coach in the AFC East. He should go the NFC.
  20. # 9 of Ohio St. looks like a good prospect..........
  21. Ahh, the "this guy blows" argument, how you can argue with that? I think whatever I write will fall in deaf ears, you're clearly biased against the guy.
  22. I told you what he does for this team, he's the most complete safety on the team, that is why Scott and Wilson don't start over him. He's the most consistent performer of the bunch. The team made a switch of system and he's having his better year as a pro. He's only 25 years old and I think he has room to improve his game. I would try to lock this position and forget about it for the next 5 or 6 years. If the amount to overpay is not crazy money, I would chose to do it.
  23. Well, he does kind of defend against the pass and the run simultaneously better than Wilson and Scott. Is he a Polamalu clone on that matter? Far from it, but I have this hunch, that the coaching staff would rather not mess with the continuity in the defensive backfield and keep Scott and Wilson as situatinal players. If you have to overpay a little, I would think about it and maybe reach Whitner's demand. Knowing what Whitner wants is key.
  24. Maybe these are preliminary talks. Each side is making their stance, lets see how it develops.
  25. You forgot to add IMO.
