Having no clear rules to follow, I doubt we see inminent players signs or trades. Maybe Philadelphia will try to move Kolb, the Bengals might try to do the same with Palmer. But, what if that happens and Kolb doesn't want to go to certain team, can he sue the Eagles, claiming it's illegal for them to trade him without a CBA in place. Maybe we see picks being traded but I don't see players transactions in this year draft.

That is a very good draft. Regardless of what you feel about Bell, and I like him, Sherrod is a great pick, a potential fit at LT and a day 1 starter at RT. The line would be solidified with just the RG open for competition between Urbik, Hang, Howard or Rinehardt. Not bad. Not enamored with Miller, I get he is a clean prospect and was productive in College, but I don't see him as a great fit for a 3-4. He would be great for a fast 4-3 D like the Colts or the Falcons. I know he is at 240/250 but I still don't see him beastly enough to be convinced he's the one at #3. Quinn would be the ideal fit but it would be a huge gamble. Love the Harvey pick but I don't see Cameron Jordan lasting that long. He's too much of a great athlete to last to our 7th pick. The more we approach the draft the more I wish we could trade down even if it were only 2 spots with Arizona if Gabbert is available at #3, rumor has it that they love the guy (assuming we don't).

DJ Williams is a guy that is somewhat similar to Hernandez. Great in the passing game but not quite physical as a blocker.

I think White would be better suited playing alongside Poz. Poz needs someone to take on the extra OL so he can make a play on the ball. I wouldn't be opposed to draft another ILB instead of the Derek Newton selection, someone like Bynes would also serve that purpose as the SILB. I'm intrigued with Anthony Gray, I don't know much about him but I read on another board where Steelers fans could see some potential out of him to be their next Casey Hampton. So the draft summary would be: #3: Nick Fairley DE/DT #34: Brooks Reed DE/OLB #68: Colin Kapernick QB (or Chris Ponder) #99: Chris White ILB #121: Jalil Brown CB #130: Derek Newton ROT (I would go with Josh Bynes here ILB or Nate Irving ILB) #164: Anthony Gray NT #195: Ryan Bartholomew OC Sounds good.

+1 I voted Newton too and I don't even trust the guy. That is how much I like Gabbert.

No matter how one feels about Newton, it is good to read that Nix and Gailey are doing their due dilligence trying to find out about what kind of player and person this kid is. If it is ok with Gailey (meeting with Newton on Monday) I'm ok with Newton if they select him at #3.

No doubt, any judge in charge will tell both parties to bugger off (with a are you kidding me face) and sort things out, you have a good thing going.

I'm not worried if they have to but I would not like to see Judge Doty or any other judge for that matter, showing the numbers with nametags to the NFLPA or the players. The numbers should be used to make a ruling, not to give them to the players for future reference.

Honest question here, I've been listening to the players talking about decertifying the union since at least last off-season, when did the owners made the "fraudulent" deal with the TV networks? Was it before or after the rumors of decertification? Another thing to ponder, the owners opted out of the last CBA citing that they are not making a good enough profit to sustain a viable business. I keep hearing about the owners being dishonest and untrustworthy. If they were such evil men why are they opting out of a CBA that gave them carte blanche to institute an 18 game season without the players approval? “[W]e offered to take the 18-game season off the table for now, and that it would be something we would re-visit in two years, and then it would have to be agreed to by both sides,” Rooney said. “That 18-game season seemed to be one of the biggest issues, as far as we knew, that the players were concerned about. So you're saying the players were posturing all along about safety, retired players funds and less off-season group work? Gotcha.

Having great mechanics and great throwing arm are not representative of being a good QB. Was the Auburn offense representative of Newton limits as a QB? Can he handle more responsabilities as a signal caller? If the answer is yes, why didn't they ask more from him, and if the answer is no, do you want that guy as the leader of your team?

Improvisation: reacting and doing things when things don't go as planned I want Newton running/improvising when he can't make plays with his head and arm first. I want Newton improvising after going through his progression and nothing is there. If he does one read and takes off, he will be eaten alive, DCs will notice and won't be doing much damage with his legs. If you plan him to run, you won't have a lasting QB, you will have a banged up RB that can throw. I just would like to know if he can be a functional NFL passer, if he is then his game will be really dangerous but if Nix and Gailey don't see that in him I don't want them to draft him out of fear of what could be. They should act with conviction.

Is that what you really took from my post? Of course a rookie will need to be coached up, but if the guy doesn't have a certain feel for the position, he can work with the coaching staff 24/7 and still fail. I was just trying to point out that many people like Newton because he's an amazing athlete but not many here can claim that he can play with the instincts and anticipation required for the position. I think it is very hard to project Newton's passing ability to the pros, he threw to a lot open and stationatry recevier at Auburn. The data to really study his game is incomplete and by drafting him you're making a huge leap of faith he can be an effective passer in the NFL. In a league that features the pass more and more, we're debating about bringing a guy with only 280 passing attempts against tough competition.
