Wade Phillips was at the Charger game
Bills Fan in MD replied to jimmy10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Winner. He certainly could have handled the Flutie-Johnson thing better, and his comments before the Colts MNF game in 2000 were irritating, but the guy took this team to the playoffs two straight years with an aging roster. Based on his recent experiences, I wouldn't want him back as HC, but you easily can do worse than the Son of a Bum. -
If you get rid of the word "sore," you've just about hit the nail on the head.

Multiple Reports : Pegula IS the new owner
Bills Fan in MD replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Funny what having $1.4 billion in CASH and not having the name "Donald Sterling" will do for someone. This is all just a formality at this point. -
It's obviously hard to not think that way, but it's also not healthy. I realize that nearly 15 years without a playoff game (and almost 19 years without a playoff win) can certainly cause a lot of neuroses, you just have to fight it. I'd like to think that we have way more talent and depth, a much better front office, and likely a better coaching staff. We'll see . . . but for now, I'm totally enjoying the moment!

Kiko Might Play This Year?
Bills Fan in MD replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not his job to rule out playing this year. That's why there are doctors, coaches, and a training staff. Hell, with his attitude, I'd be surprised if he said anything else. I'd also be furious if the team does anything to risk his long term health. -
This is my EXACT situation as well, except for the fact that "loath" is way too positive a description of my feelings toward the Washington team. I live in MD and have tried really hard to root for the Ravens whenever doing so had no impact on the Bills, but I could never get myself to truly care about whether they won or lost.

Perception of the Team. From an Ex Bills Fan
Bills Fan in MD replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can someone help me find a new favorite team for this season? I'm thinking either Seattle or Denver, but open to all suggestions. Thanks! -
Wasn't he retired and signed with FOX as a tv analyst before he signed with the Dolphins? I'm pretty sure he's basically done.

There's only so many times I can say "there's always next year." When is enough??

There must be something wrong with my computer. All of the posts filled with righteous indignation over where we are ranked by ESPN, PFT, etc. all seem to have disappeared!

I agree completely with this.

Look, the word "hate" is a little strong and I agree with everyone who points out that the blame is entirely with the owner. Other than an amazingly talented team put together by Bill Polian and maintained by John Butler (and maybe a couple of decent years under Chuck Knox), this franchise has been a joke since the AFL-NFL merger. That all being said, and this pains me to say it, was Marv really that good as a coach? I give him all the credit for motivating his teams to come back from the Super Bowl losses to make another run. I remember how discouraging it felt after each loss and how resilient those teams were to battle back to the big dance. Nonetheless, it always seemed as though his criteria to be a coach was based on his endless repertoire of military history quotes. In all my years as a fan I never remember him discussing the Xs and Os or just about anything from the game itself. Plus, he had an offensive wiz in Ted Marchibroda as his OC and a quarterback who could run the offense. And yes, he was wildly outcoached in all four Super Bowls. I grew up with Marv Levy and idolized the guy, but after his disastrous tenure as GM I don't think it's unfair to take a second look at his entire career with the team.

Something for the bulletin board??
Bills Fan in MD replied to jabtot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What has Miami done the past few years? If you take away their 2008 season, the Dolphins have had about the same amount of success as the Bills since about 2003. -
How old are the Bills? The Average Player Is 26.5.
Bills Fan in MD replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd comment on the subject matter at hand, but I'm too busy feeling depressed at how old I am . . . I think this is the first time in my life that I am older than every player on the Bills, and it's only downhill from here. -
Drafting Wang drops WNY to a distant 2nd place
Bills Fan in MD replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe, but let's slow down. Wang is a fifth round pick who isn't even guaranteed to make the team. Yao was the #1 overall pick in the NBA draft. Also, I believe that Wang was born in the US -- while Yao is a full-fledged Chinese citizen who lives there in the offseason. -
LOL goddell grew up a Ravens fan.
Bills Fan in MD replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Goodell is very much a bottom-line kind of guy, so I'm not sure it will ultimately matter, but this is a great point nonetheless. -
Wow. This isn't surprising at all, and isn't really a big deal in terms of where his skills are today, but still a really big deal in terms of where he was just a few years ago. Seeing LT become past his prime makes me feel really old today.

Yes, that's right. A lot of people believe, however, that Wade held firm to get himself fired with pay. When he was fired, Ronnie Jones didn't exactly have many offers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Jones Ronnie Joe Jones (October 17, 1955(1955-10-17) in Dumas, Texas) is an American football coach. Though currently an assistant at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, Jones has served on coaching staffs at numerous colleges and NFL teams.

Clancy Pendergast finally free from Chiefs
Bills Fan in MD replied to Preston Ridlehuber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree on both counts. Probably a crappy decision, and also one that looks like a foregone conclusion.
