  1. I have a bad feeling that Ndamukong Suh could make this a very short-lived QB switch after his first hit on the QB this Sunday.
  2. As an aside, does this move happen if a new owner weren't days away from taking over? I've just about lost faith in EJ, so I certainly can't argue with this decision, but it does reek a bit of desperation by a coaching staff and front office that is looking to avoid being swept out of town soon.
  3. EJ. This team (like most NFL teams) is reluctant to admit mistakes, particularly at the QB position. How many years did it take for the Bills to admit that Rob Johnson wasn't the guy, or J.P. Losman, or Trent Edwards? Each of those guys showed flashes of being the next franchise QB and, as a result, it took the front office and coaching staff ages to finally cut bait and move on. Even Fitz looked like he could be a steady hand at the wheel for a good long time, so the team rewarded him with a big extension. If EJ isn't the guy, this team needs to know NOW and move on. And unless people think Orton can lead them to a magical season, starting him would only delay the process.
  4. I really hate these types of articles (not quite as much as the ones that "grade" a draft the day after it happens, but close). ANYTHING can happen over the course of a year or two, much less five. I agree that there's a ton of young talent on our roster now but, as everyone knows, it all begins and ends with EJ. And all that aside, having Detroit on the list of "A" teams really undermines this guy's credibility. That team is going to get old and/or fleeced by free agency a lot faster than they are going to be a force in the postseason.
  5. Winner. He certainly could have handled the Flutie-Johnson thing better, and his comments before the Colts MNF game in 2000 were irritating, but the guy took this team to the playoffs two straight years with an aging roster. Based on his recent experiences, I wouldn't want him back as HC, but you easily can do worse than the Son of a Bum.
  6. If you get rid of the word "sore," you've just about hit the nail on the head.
  7. Putting aside the question of whether he should or shouldn't be leading the charge, this just makes me feel old. The guy is 33 and is essentially coming back to town for an "old-timers"-like tribute.
  8. Funny what having $1.4 billion in CASH and not having the name "Donald Sterling" will do for someone. This is all just a formality at this point.
  9. It's obviously hard to not think that way, but it's also not healthy. I realize that nearly 15 years without a playoff game (and almost 19 years without a playoff win) can certainly cause a lot of neuroses, you just have to fight it. I'd like to think that we have way more talent and depth, a much better front office, and likely a better coaching staff. We'll see . . . but for now, I'm totally enjoying the moment!
  10. It's not his job to rule out playing this year. That's why there are doctors, coaches, and a training staff. Hell, with his attitude, I'd be surprised if he said anything else. I'd also be furious if the team does anything to risk his long term health.
  11. This is my EXACT situation as well, except for the fact that "loath" is way too positive a description of my feelings toward the Washington team. I live in MD and have tried really hard to root for the Ravens whenever doing so had no impact on the Bills, but I could never get myself to truly care about whether they won or lost.
  12. Can someone help me find a new favorite team for this season? I'm thinking either Seattle or Denver, but open to all suggestions. Thanks!
  13. If he gets cut by the Rams, I suspect that he's going to have options. Going to a team that is already set at the position he plays, but not strong enough at other positions to actually win games and be relevant is probably not going to be at the top of his list.
  14. The Bears shouldn't worry too much about it. I hear Marrone and Hackett don't want to show much in that game so that they can save plays for the Fins the following week (or some other future game).
  15. Wasn't he retired and signed with FOX as a tv analyst before he signed with the Dolphins? I'm pretty sure he's basically done.
  16. Well, at least someone is doing well by the disaster that is the current OL. Fina looks like a HOFer compared to what we've got now.
  17. 99% of the time, my annoying trait of procrastinating has done me in. This time, however, I'm so thankful that I forgot to sign up as there is no way I'd be happy about shelling out $350 to watch this team.
  18. There's only so many times I can say "there's always next year." When is enough??
  19. There must be something wrong with my computer. All of the posts filled with righteous indignation over where we are ranked by ESPN, PFT, etc. all seem to have disappeared!
  20. Look, the word "hate" is a little strong and I agree with everyone who points out that the blame is entirely with the owner. Other than an amazingly talented team put together by Bill Polian and maintained by John Butler (and maybe a couple of decent years under Chuck Knox), this franchise has been a joke since the AFL-NFL merger. That all being said, and this pains me to say it, was Marv really that good as a coach? I give him all the credit for motivating his teams to come back from the Super Bowl losses to make another run. I remember how discouraging it felt after each loss and how resilient those teams were to battle back to the big dance. Nonetheless, it always seemed as though his criteria to be a coach was based on his endless repertoire of military history quotes. In all my years as a fan I never remember him discussing the Xs and Os or just about anything from the game itself. Plus, he had an offensive wiz in Ted Marchibroda as his OC and a quarterback who could run the offense. And yes, he was wildly outcoached in all four Super Bowls. I grew up with Marv Levy and idolized the guy, but after his disastrous tenure as GM I don't think it's unfair to take a second look at his entire career with the team.
  21. What has Miami done the past few years? If you take away their 2008 season, the Dolphins have had about the same amount of success as the Bills since about 2003.
  22. I'd comment on the subject matter at hand, but I'm too busy feeling depressed at how old I am . . . I think this is the first time in my life that I am older than every player on the Bills, and it's only downhill from here.
  23. Maybe, but let's slow down. Wang is a fifth round pick who isn't even guaranteed to make the team. Yao was the #1 overall pick in the NBA draft. Also, I believe that Wang was born in the US -- while Yao is a full-fledged Chinese citizen who lives there in the offseason.
