  1. The Cowboys. A year or two from now, you can add either the Bills or Eagles to that list, but for now the Cowboys are the clear winners of this trade.
  2. In light of the McCoy-Kiko trade, I think it's safe to say that this thread might be just a touch off. The trade may turn out horribly for us (although I don't think that will be the case) but this is definitely NOT the same old Bills.
  3. It's going to be really interesting to see what the plan is at QB. On the one hand, having a top tier RB means that they can run a low risk passing game with a half decent veteran (or even EJ). On the other hand, this is an "all in" move, so you really can't take any chances.
  4. So does that mean that he didn't miss a single paycheck and was essentially on a paid suspension the entire time?
  5. Whaley really has a ton of incentive to get this done. If Hughes has a couple more seasons like the last two, the trade with Indy goes down as one of the best in team history, and probably even league wide (at least in recent history). That only happens if he stays in Buffalo.
  6. I actually give him some credit here. Long term, the broadcasting gig could be more financially lucrative (he certainly isn't going to be getting a big contract now) and much less work. Fox seemed to be high on him as an analyst, so he really did have options. Now, would I actually want to see the Bills take a shot with him? That's another story.
  7. We've always known that he's a larger-than-life personality, but I really have been impressed by the way he just "gets it." He genuinely seems to know how important the team is to the community and its fans. If he can actually produce on the field (and this is obviously a big IF), he could turn out to be a legendary figure in Bills history when this is all over.
  8. Miss him? Yes Want him on the team today? Sorry, but no.
  9. So the guy gets put on the exempt list, which allows him to collect his $13.1 million this year for not playing, which he then uses (at least in part) to enter into a financial "settlement" with the victim, whose subsequent refusal to testify results in the charges being dismissed, thereby allowing him to cash in big on the FA market. Did I miss anything?
  10. So he left an actual head coaching job for a CHANCE to be a head coach again at some point in the future? Sure thing, Doug.
  11. Someone should make a list of every unheralded college or CFL quarterback who has been the subject of a TBD post since Jim Kelly's retirement and who was supposedly "the answer" at QB. Remember when we just HAD to draft Tony Pike or Dan LeFevour?
  12. Think about how hard of a time scouts have projecting college players into the NFL before the draft. It must be much harder to scout them from HS to college considering that they are much more raw, younger (often still growing), and come from an even larger pool of talent. The idea of projecting a player's pro potential at 18 just doesn't happen the way it does in other sports. That's why it always fascinates me to see when hockey and basketball players are identified as phenoms at 13 and 14 and, in some cases (e.g., Wayne Gretzky, Sidney Crosby, LeBron James, etc.), those projections are right.
  13. I see your point. Trading for him would be much betterrrr!!!
  14. I had the same reaction. Plus, isn't that the goal of every coach? By the way, nobody is "trading" for Revis. Either the Pats pick up his option (or work out a new contract for him by the end of the month), or it's a free-for-all for his services in the FA market.
  15. I saw that too and looked it up last night. Here's your answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Is_Our_House
  16. I've never heard Jed York speak before. I knew there were some concerns about his qualifications to run a football team, but after seeing that video I now have boatloads of sympathy for Niners fans (and a small change of heart about Harbaugh). That kid's not going anywhere anytime soon, and that along would terrify me as a fan.
  17. http://deadspin.com/are-the-49ers-cheap-1682507645 I really try not to engage in schadenfreude, but seeing other teams go through bouts of what we have been going through for years and knowing that it's a new era for us is kind of nice. It's also a luxury to see stories about cheap owners, schemes to move the team, etc. and know that they aren't about us anymore.
  18. I'm more inclined to believe that things played out the way they did because of the emergence of LeVeon Bell, who went from being an up-and-coming young RB into an elite, MVP-caliber player. That said, once Blount realized that the Steelers weren't going to do the running back by committee thing, I can easily see him pulling the stunts that he did with the hope that he would be released and, in that case, he almost certainly had his eye on the Patriots as his next stop.
  19. Sorry, but no dice. One month ago he was the head coach of a 9-7 team that most people see as being on the upswing. Today he is the OL coach of one of the three worst teams in football -- notwithstanding any other title he negotiated with the team. There's no way that can be interpreted as anything but a mistake. I agree with Schefter that circumstances could change, but the ONLY way that it turns out not to be a mistake is if (1) he gets another head coaching position in the NFL or at an elite college AND (2) his next job is actually better than the one he just left. Just getting another job won't be enough (see Mularkey, Michael R.). I readily admit that it's possible, but I have a hard time seeing how he gets there from his current gig. . .
  20. I was thinking the same thing. There's no chance that it really turns out to be true, but if it is the case I would then start looking into the background of current SNL writers to see if any of them made a recent deal with the devil.
  21. Technically, all of his games were coached from the heavens as he is a god walking among us mere mortals.
