LEE EVANS said hes the #1 WR(not TO)
keepthefaith replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, and it's good to see some attitude brought to the team. Hopefully it remains mostly positive. This puts added pressure on Jauron and I really like that. -
Bills have a tough schedule. I think T.O. helps them stay at 7-9. Less without him.

When Will TO Start Complaining
keepthefaith replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. They need some attitiude in the locker room and he's got enough to counter Jauron's complete lack thereof. -

Edwards won't throw the ball to T.O. enough and we all know where that will go. -
Kelly sells house in OP and the buyer is Lynch
keepthefaith replied to BarkLessWagMore's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went to the Barrett Jackson auction in Phoenix this year. Your Olds would be a smash hit there. Guys pay $30K and up for almost anything. Tell them you drove it there from Buffalo and you'll get $50K. -
How do so many people remain optimistic?
keepthefaith replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are like a family member to many of us. A bond so close that you cling to every shred of hope for their success even though what you see is dysfunctional. You'll defend them in any circumstance. You know that better days are ahead. -

Maybe confidence that Lynch will stay out of trouble is low. -
What a difference a year makes. At this time last year Trent was going to carry the team on his wings being skillfully guided by Turk. Jauron was going to have a breakout season as a head coach and prove that he's a winner in the NFL. Marcus Stroud was going to anchor the D-line with Pozslusny becoming a beast in the middle giving more credibility to the Tampa 2 scheme. I will say this. For the first time since the early '90's, Bills fans are really on the same page. Just not the page we want to be on.

Is Ralph PREPARING to sell the Bills?

I know nothing about the guy but will accept that in your judgement he is better than Jauron. -
Is Ralph PREPARING to sell the Bills?

It's never too early to discuss who the next head coach will be. -
Buffalo's 2009 schedule
keepthefaith replied to BillsFan-4-Ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't worry. Jauron can will them to 7-9 and become the first coach ever to post 4 consecutive 7-9 seasons. -
Lynch pleads guilty to Firearms Possession

Freddy looked awfully good in that last game. Would be interesting to see him get 20+ carries for a few games to see what he does. We may have that opportunity. -
Ralph positioning the team to be sold?

That would not be a surprise. We elected change and we're getting it. Tax and spend is now spend and tax. -
Ralph positioning the team to be sold?
keepthefaith replied to keepthefaith's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for actually reading what was posted and making intelligent and informed remarks. Many others here simply view this as "the team will be sold and moved", or the whole financial discussion is over their heads. I really believe that Ralph would like the team to stay in Buffalo. I don't know either if leaving the team to a daughter would result in double taxation. Scenario #2 looks like the better move if he were to die assuming Mary is still around. Regardless, there looks to be a huge tax incentive for Ralph to sell before the end of 2010 assuming he could find a buyer that would pay him market value or close in that timeframe. Wouldn't suprise me at all if that happened. -
Ralph positioning the team to be sold?
keepthefaith replied to keepthefaith's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not accusing him of anything really, and I'm not suggesting at all that the Bills are leaving if sold. He'd be smart to sell before 2011 if he wants to maximize his investment and he appears to be positioning himself well. -
I know he has said publically that he won't sell the team before he dies. I've never bought that completely. Let's look at the money trail....... He's not throwing money at free agents and stayed well below the cap last year. Could be well below tha cap again this year. Re-signed Jauron even when it looked obvious to many outsiders that Jauron is not the answer. 3 Years, likely not big bucks, a deal that could be terminated without great expense. No real GM. Not selling the stadium rights, wide open for the next owner. Managing the team to profitability in Buffalo. Showing a decent bottom line to potential investors shows the team can make money in Buffalo. Has visited with politicians to discuss the Bills. What for? Toronto deal may not be popular, but it helps bottom line and expands market. All of this makes it easier for a new owner to take over. Very little expensive baggage in organization. The Capital gains tax is almost certain to rise. Even if the team were sold on the cheap at $700 million and with a current cap-gains rate of 15%, he'd pay about $100 million in cap gains tax (or less if he has a lot of retained earnings on the books). This rate expires after 2010. If the rate is increased to 25% under Obama in 2011 (which is quite possible), his tax bill could rise by almost $70 million if he waits (or dies later). Wait though, it gets better......The current estate tax rate for 2009 is 45% but is waived in 2010. In 2011 the estate tax rate is 55% on the portion above $3 million. HUGE! If Ralph dies this year or in 2011 and beyond, his estate pays a hefty sum, especially if in 2011 and beyond. If he sells the team or a majority stake in the team while alive, he saves literally hundreds of millions of dollars. He's got a nice window through 2010. After that it gets really expensive if the team is sold or passed on to his family and then sold. We know Ralph loves the Bills and loves money. I really believe some plan has been in the works. What he likely didn't anticipate was the current economic climate which would certainly reduce the value of the team. Even with that, a sale on the cheap while alive will provide his family with a lot more cash. Hundreds of millions more. I really believe this could be the plan. It just adds up. Thoughts?

We don't talk cars much here, but a BMW is at least worth mentioning. Your car, well, you should keep that to yourself.

I agree, money is undefeated. However, you think the recent winning tradition in Buffalo would have been enough to persuade him?

So the general TSW feeling is no matter what we do
keepthefaith replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're dealing with the hypothetical. The real story is this. Dick Jauron is the head coach and has a staff full of guys of questionable coaching talent and he's deploying a bland and predictable game plan on both sides of the ball. The Bills have average talent. Like it or not, the Bills are going nowhere with this coaching staff regadless of who is in uniform. The good news however, is that the Bills are a year closer than last year to getting a new coach. Hopefully the next decade is better than this one. -
Another board says Coles signed by Bills
keepthefaith replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way. It's the variety of people on this board that makes it fun. Certainly the Bills aren't making it fun. -

Maybe, but give some BMW owners credit for appreciating the differences that are engineered into those cars compared to what the average Joe drives.
