  1. I'd say it's still a sign of progress. Nobody lost an eye, or a head or got shot - and no police appear to be involved.
  2. And even Walgreens. Couple years ago I had a rotten sore throat for days. On a Saturday afternoon I had had enough. Went to Walgreens. Nurse Practitioner there was busy so I left my name an number. She called me an hour later. I drove over and she took a culture and had a result in about 5 minutes. Positive. She wrote a script for an antibiotic and 15 minutes later I was out of there. Literally Monday of this week someone I know took their kid in the afternoon to the ER for a suspected ear ache. Turned out not to be, but they went to the ER. Walgreens could have looked in the ear.
  3. Not likely leaving the US but being particular about more than just weather. Taxation and the political environment will definitely play a role.
  4. There are some liberal pols that want to move toward "regionalism" policies to force people in near suburbs to be subject to big city taxes and rules. Their belief is that suburbanites enjoy or work in cities and then go home to their cushy suburban homes and don't pay their fair share to support city schools and other city financial obligations. Broadening the definition of the city would allow them to get access to more suburban money. I thought possibly that this was what you might be referring to. The ex-governor here in Illinois wanted to impose a progressive property tax based on a combination of property value and owner income because he said it simply isn't right that higher wage earners not pay more in property taxes. Rahm is basically doing that in the city by raising property taxes but only on property worth more than $250K. Not surprised to see that Illinois is one of the leader states of defectors. My wife and I will be outta here in a few years.
  5. Who are they? Insurance companies? The state line restriction continues to be dumb IMO.
  6. Does that mean more people moving into the city limits or expanding the geographic size of what is the city?
  7. Laziness and cluelessness are other reasons that more people go to the ER. So many people these days have very poor judgement on when to use the ER and when not to. So many others who have coverage, especially Medicaid users, don't even bother to have a primary care physician of record so when they have an issue it's simply easier to go to the ER and the ER welcomes the lazy and the hypochondriacs with open arms. Medicaid users may have a harder time finding doctors to take them in some areas, but so many don't bother to find one because the ER is easier. Like getting a haircut with no appointment. While there is some belt tightening going on in some facets of government paid healthcare (like denying some treatments or rehab for elderly), keeping idiots out of the ER does not appear to be a priority. Idiots includes over protective Mom's.
  8. With about 6 coaching changes a year on average, this has to be one of the highest turnover professions anywhere.
  9. Looks like Cosby is amused by Clinton's intern practices.
  10. If we do that, can the tax proceeds be used to do more R&D on disposing of CO2 and nuclear waste? After all coal and nuke are the lower cost ways of generating electricity so doesn't it make sense use the money to improve the most efficient ways of generating power?
  11. But it's not fair or just. Tax the rich, tax the dead, tax wall street, steal the banks' money if necessary but healthcare and a college education should be birth rights (assuming you make it to birth).
  12. Which is all part of the Obama plan. "Rich" people shouldn't be allowed to have or buy better coverage than poor and if they do then it should be taxed in the interest of fairness.
  13. I'm sold. I'm supporting Hillary or Bernie from this point forward.
  14. I agree. Obama has done a very poor job and describing it as garbage is fair.
  15. Obama had an opportunity to be a great President given the crap Bush handed him but the numbers aren't there to support anything near good. = Debt, horrible even with his tax increases. = Economic recovery, very weak by historical measures and the economy looks to be slowing down again. No pro economic growth policies enacted. = Obamacare, terrible in terms of what are the cost and the benefits. = Social security fiscal position, worse. Nothing done. = Illegal immigration, horrendous and in fact he has promoted more of it. = National security, Terror threats on the rise. = Getting us out of needless wars, weak. He has neither gotten us out nor has he stabilized Iraq or Afg. = Foreign policy, bungled. We are less respected and what little has been done has yielded poor results. Nothing else that he has done has been significant that I can think of. He will be leaving a large steaming stinking pile of crap for the next President
  16. Merry Christmas to all and especially to those of you here who lean liberal.
  17. No man would be caught dead wearing what she wears. I think she is being lobbied by the Broyhill furniture company who makes her pant suits from leftover couch fabric.
  18. Chicago Blackhawks of recent years Chicago Bulls, 6 times!!!!!!!!!!!! Chicago Whitesox with the hefty lefty closer Kentucky Wildcats basketball (while one of my kids attending) Still waiting for Bills/Sabres
  19. Probably so which means you were probably paying too much before .
  20. If you stab someone with that is it considered gun violence?
  21. Anyone notice the tweed brown couch fabric pant suit Hillary wore? Seriously it looked like a Goodwill piece from an estate.
  22. It's reasonable to think that Tyrod can improve his play in future years. His numbers say he's already good.
  23. Had Tyrod stayed healthy all season and had the Bills' defense been even half of what Rex promised, the Bills would be somewhere around 10-4 right now. Maybe better. Tyrod's a keeper but they do need a much better backup.
