I totally forgot about Fitzpatrick's
Original Byrd Man replied to murra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like to see him get a fair shot at starting. The media are all writing him off as a career back up but I liked what I saw against the Jets. He needs to improve on his accuracy. If that can happen I see him as a viable option. I just don't see a future for Trent here. He is shell shocked in the pocket and this O line is a couple of years away from giving him the comfort zone he needs to regain his pre-concussion form, and by that time I believe Trent will be gone. -
Benching the most exciting player
Original Byrd Man replied to StamerforPrez's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I as well have been very disappointed in Roscoe this year. Some of it I attribute to overall ST play which has been very suspect this year but it seems more and more that RP couldn't buy a clue if he had all the money in the world. It's a shame that some one with his physical talents has limited grey matter. And for all of you who think he should be more involved with the O, maybe the fact that he has been on the trade block since training camp and is still a Bill should tell you what the league thinks of him. It ain't happening. -
True but Edwards had the benefit of actually practicing the Bills plays all week as opposed to runninig the Jet's plays as Fitz did. Not saying by a long styretch that Fitz is the answer but he showed me much more than Trent. The problem for TE is he is gun shy.

Buffalo's soon to be new head coach
Original Byrd Man replied to SWVABillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps the next Sean Payton is out there waiting. Just because you get burned a couple times, it doesn't mean you disregard talent. The biggest problem with Williams was a gutted roster after he took the job, and you can thank old TD for that. Not saying I'm a big GW fan but the guy really didn't have much to work with. Even Mularkey had his moments his first year then fell victim to the QB controversy. There are co-ordinators out there that may be capable of the HC position. I'm not such a big fan of the HC retreads out there. Maybe the next Mc Daniels is waiting to sign on the dotted line. -

AJ Smith looking to shake things up in San Diego
Original Byrd Man replied to gcb34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually he chose to stay with the Titans who led him to believe they where moving on with out Mc Nair and Volek would be the starter. But they pulled the rug out from underhim and when all was said and done the SD backup job was all that was out there. -
I found it very disturbing to hear our "leader" throw the run game under the bus for this loss. How about some accountability on your part. The run game didn't throw a 6-pick early in the game. Our run game isn't the reason you're afraid to go deep unless the guy is wide open. Maybe the fact that you're hesitant to go deep is the reason the run game struggled. They also didn't misfire on many passes, ie overthrows and inaccuracies.

From Aaron Maybin's Twitter...

The third Quarter was the worst but through most of the game the crowd was dead. I watched the game the next day and even the "Goose", while on the sideline, talked about how quiet the stadium was, and that was in the 1st quarter. The fans have become to appathetic. I sit in front of a group that sit on their hands and drink their beers all game long. My how times have changed! The "Twelfth Man" has vanished. If any one knows where he is, it would be a good time to tell him the Bills are in need of his service's. -
Guess Which Unemployed NFL Coach is Golfing
Original Byrd Man replied to CosmicBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would also prefer Marty, as I think Shanahan is a very good OC he has sucked as a HC minus Elway and Davis. Also his D had gotten worse each year. -
I thoroughly enjoy a little BSS as well. Helps to get your mind straight. May we could send a copy to DJ.

I get the mentoring thing but Runyon is a RT. He doesn't help our need for a starting caliber LT, unless Everyone is OK with Bells limited experience. Or should I say lack of experience.
-
Glad you enjoyed it. Been a big ELP fan from their beginning.

Do we really need an over the hill tackle? I would rather see Levi Jones coming to town. He is younger and more athletic at this point in their respective careers. The knock on Jones is his health, but we could use Bell as his backup and he could get experience playing behind Jones.

Does it really make sense?
Original Byrd Man replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How would a new OC implement his offense a week before the season kick off??? Not happening! I believe AVP will excel and be hired as OC for next year. And as far as your comment about TE's regression, It may be all him. He was never the same after the concussion. And to be honest he hadn't exactly set the world on fire before that. -
Is the first game plan from Kelly?
Original Byrd Man replied to SlamnSam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree. If you have read the posts conserning the difference in ideologies between DJ and TS, I would assume any plan TS had would be tossed, or atleast undergo major modification. Simplicity was the key to the Nohuddle of the SB Bills. I'm hoping for a return to the Glory Years, and an opening day shocker would be ever so sweet. Go BILLS!!!! -
I believe AVP will do well. I had hoped he would have been given the OC position before Turk. He is bright, with very good football intelegence. He rewrote the Pittsburg Panthers record books after Marino, with out a great deal of physical ability. He knows how to attack a D. Also I think he will be on the same page as Jauron as far as the play book, (see comments from TS and DJ about their different goals for the O). For those who remembert he no huddle in the 90's, the PB was simple, to minimize the plan. It was the speed of execution that was key.

Edwards was pretty good when he was healthy. He just had trouble staying that way. -
Buses to the Ralph From Roch?
Original Byrd Man replied to MattM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey thanks for the tip but I've done my time on school busses and I'm not going back. -
Let me refresh your memory. In the three games in quotes Trents Int's led to the final out come each time. The cowboys were pretty much out of it until the pick deep in Dallas territory was returned, bringing the Boys to within a FG of winning. The Denver game In B-lo was flat out lame and the Ceveland started with three picks and went south from there. If Mc lovin hadn't returned a KO for a TD the FG would have been a moot point.

Buses to the Ralph From Roch?
Original Byrd Man replied to MattM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Matt, First Student(formerly Laidlaw) has busses if you don't mind riding in hot, crowded school busses. I pass! I drive myself to each home game from Ontario, NY and miss the conversations and comarraderie the RTS bus riders used to offer. I'm hoping something else turns up. -
Lets face the facts. Our QB is Chicken Little. Watch his feet next time. He looks like a cat on a hot tin roof. Mr Bojangles didn't shuffle his feet that much. Not saying I'm a big TURK fan but he isn't getting much support on the field.

Michael Lombardi...two Bills notes
Original Byrd Man replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you go three and out with a huddle do you really think that extra 75 seconds is going to make any difference to the D??? Three and out is pretty much the same, huddle or no huddle. -
Offense is Turk's fault & DJ for hiring him
Original Byrd Man replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's hard to know what the game plan really is, since Check down Trent and his happy feet seems to do his own thing. I'm hoping he is just saving it all for the regular season. -
Some of you think the Bills are a mess?
Original Byrd Man replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe it was Tom Bresnehan and Nick Nicalaou. Please don't kill me for the misspelling. -
