So how come when the Pats beat a team and put up over 50 points in a win its all about how horrible they and BB are for "running up the score", yet when someone else like the Seahawks beat a team 58-0 (after already ebing up by 30 at halftime), its just about how bad the Cardinals are?

Is a new OC a possibility?
apuszczalowski replied to ProbablyWrong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I'm sure alot of their poor stats from the start of the season were due to the better quality of teams they played (NE twice, SF, Houston, etc.) -

I think this is a rare situation the Packers have with that many drafted players on the roster. I would say most good teams probably have at the most 50-60% of their roster as guys they drafted

Is a new OC a possibility?
apuszczalowski replied to ProbablyWrong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only way a new OC comes in is if Chans gone. I could see him giving up the Head Coach title to become the full time OC more then him giving somone else control of the offence and staying on as the HC. As for the situation with him and Haley in KC, that was haley who had the control issues and fired Chan because he wanted more control i think they may feel a little burned by the failed Favre experiment to go back to picking up a veteran on his way off his second team -
I see I just don't understand what his reasoning would be to want to leave? And if he did, its more likely he wants to go somewhere closer to "home" for him, or to somewhere thats closer to winning again then the Saints (but what team getting rid of their coach is closer then the Saints?). Why would he voluntarily leave the Saints, to go to a team further from a championship unless its one of his only choices?

With the defense rising, does Wanny get another shot?
apuszczalowski replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the fans get what they all want, and Chan is fired, I would be willing to bet that Wanny will be retained................................... And given the Head Coaching position If the front office feels the pressure/heat from the fanbase and decide they need to dump Chan, I don't think they want to go through another top to bottom rebuild of the coaching staff when they feel tehy are starting to put together a good team. I believe they would let Chan go and given the HC spot to Wanny, who will then make a decision on who to given the Co-ordinators jobs to. The only other move I can see happening this offseason is Nix stepping down, saying that at his age he wants to retire and feels Whaley is ready to take over. If that happens, the coaching staff will stay the same going into next year, but if things start to fall apart again, jobs will be lost during the season -
Wasn't there rumors earlier this year that because of the suspension, the last year of his deal would be moved to next season? So since he was suspended before the start of this season, this year doesn't count since he isn't being paid IIRC, and his deal is over at the end of next season? But even if that isn't true or doesn't work out that way, why would NO let him leave? Its not like things are working out better without him now

If they let McKelvin walk, then Cribbs would make sense

Just a comment on the post above, I think the McGahee pick was similar to others you mention as being a "Best Player Available" type Pick. McGahee prior to his injury was projected to go at the very top of the draft, if not #1 overall. Due to the injury, he fell to the Bills who took him with the plans of going run heavy with 2 very good RBs (something that teams started going to around this time). It may not have been the best choice at the time though because they knew he would miss a season to recover, and Henry didn't want to share the RB role so it didn't work out. As for the DBs, its possible that the Bills draft them early because they understand that having good ones are needed in todays pass happy, offence first NFL and know that good ones in FA are expensive. Also DBs account for over 4 players on the field on defence no matter what defence you run (4-3 or 3-4) so chances are you are going to draft a DB is more likely then say a QB, where you have only one of them on the field at a time. The Bills, especially recently, have been re-signing and keeping their players around that they feel are contributors and who agree to re-sign (its not always on the team when a player leaves, sometimes they want to see if someones willing to overpay for them) They made an attempt to re-sign Poz and Whitner (Whitner thought he was worth more and the fans wanted him gone anyways, and Poz left cause he wasn't happy in a 3-4), otherwise Winfield was let go because they thought he would be too expensive to re-sign and they felt they had his replacement on staff already in Clements. Clements wasn't re-signed cause he knew he was in for a huge payday that the Bills couldn't afford (and he was right when SF Overpaid). As for Greer (is he still playing?) He was let go, but didn't really do all that much after leaving. Players come and go all the time, and sometimes its not the teams fault they couldn't keep them around. The big mistake the Bills have made has been that they have been unable to find a franchise type QB, although its not like they haven't tried, or its a simple task. They have gone the FA route, they tried trades, they trade PS raids, they tried drafting, they tried the CFL, the problem has been they haven't struck gold on a long term solution. But theres probably half the NFL in the same boat. How many times have teams found someone that one year looks like the answer, and the next year is looking to be replaced? Its not as simple as just going to the draft and grabbing a guy early and you have a franchise QB. Everyone wants an elite Brady/Manning type of QB, and they expect that their QB should perform like them or else they can't win. Theres alot of luck in trying to find one of those QBs. The Pats had one fo the biggest horseshoes up their @22 when they stumbled on brady in the 6th round, the Colts have been even luckier in that they had the #1 overall pick in the year Manning came out, AND in the year possibly the next manning was available in the draft. The Packers were lucky enough to have Rodgers fall into their laps after almost every team in the league passed over him and they could take Favres replacement and allow him to learn from him for a few years. Then you have teams like the Raiders whom everyone assumed would have a franchise QB in Russell when they took him at #1, or the 49ers when they took Alex Smith. Every year there are guys that come out and lead their teams for a short period and people think are the answer, then their teams are looking for replacements.

Nick Saban may want back in NFL
apuszczalowski replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Got to laugh at all those who would sell the farm for this guy just because previous Bills coaches haven't worked out here So your reasoning for wanting him are....... 1. He runs a very successful college program (like all successful college coaches have succeeded when given an NFL job) 2. He was good when coaching/co-ordinating the Browns defence 20 years ago (Same with Wanstache.....) 3. He only has one losing season as a HC on his record (and in the NFL, he only has one winning season as a HC.........) 4. Who cares if he quit on his team to go back to college when thing became tough in the NFL (This is the exact attitude you want in a HC, when things get tough, quit!) 5. He has to be an improvement over Gailey (Who has to be any improvement over Jauron, who has to be an improvement over Mularky, who has to be an improvement over Williams, who atleast wears a headset meaning he has to be an improvement over Wade Phillips!) From what it sounds like, he will either stay in the NCAA or will come back with the Browns to help out an organisation he has a past with and friend, which of course means that its all Ralphs fault for being too cheap/too close to death that he won't come to Buffalo to be our next coach getting a pink slip in a couple years............ -
With the defense rising, does Wanny get another shot?
apuszczalowski replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they are to clean house, shouldn't that mean Whaley gone too? Do you really think he has had no hand in any of this, and just spends his days sitting in his office doing nothing, waiting for Nix to leave so he gets his turn to be handed the GM job? I seem to recall saying the same thing last season but with different names. Hmmmm, replace "Whaley" with "Wannstadt" and "Edwards" with "Nix" and its last season all over again -

He didn't need to be superman to make that INT, just the ability to make a routine catch that you would expect an NFL player with previous experience as a WR be able to make. -

apuszczalowski replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whats the difference between a WR and a CB? The Ability to catch, and its the reason why switching to CB saved Wilsons carrier and kept him from stocking shelves at the local grocery store. The job of any player on defence is to stop a team from progressing and getting the ball back to your offence, however possible. CBs jobs are to try and get the ball first, and if they can't get the INT, make sure that the ball does not end up getting caught by the WR, and if they can't do that, its to keep the player from getting any further with the ball. No one is blaming Wilson for not intercepting an impossible catch, and it could have been worse, atleast he kept the ball from being caught, but by dropping an INT that was right in his hands and should have been caught by a guy who used to play the WR position (so his hands should be better then most CBs and should be used to making catches) he did let his team down because that INT could have meant the game. If the Rams CB would have dropped Fitzs gift wrapped INT (Seriously, the only way to make that turnover any easier for the Rams player would have been if Fitz just walked over and handed it to him) and the Bills scored on the next play, or made a FG on that drive to tie the game and then win it, would people not look back at that play and say the player cost them the game by not intercepting it, even though he "did his job" and kept it from being caught? -
I have always wondered what the definition for a racist would be.It is refered to as the Human Race, which would mean one would be "Racist" if you were prejudice against other creatures/animals Or are Italians considered a "Race" on their own, instead of an ethnicity But are you trying to say my stereotyping of Italians is not true? LOL

Some would gladly trade Fitz for Palmer
apuszczalowski replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think on a better team, he could be one of those QBs that can be good enough to get you to the playoffs. I watched part of the game yesterday and actually thought that I wouldn't have an issue if Palmer was a FA, bringing him in and giving him a chance. I wouldn't give up much for him though The Raiders are just a really bad team right now, but its not because he is as horrible as everyone says around here As for the comparison between him and Fitz and their "rankings", it might say something that both are ranked right next to each other, but I think it says more about Palmer because of the 2 teams they play for, I would rank the rest of the Bills offence much better then the supporting cast palmer has around him in Oakland on offence -

Fletcher is the NFLs current "Iron Man" IIRC Urlacher can't stay healthy the last few seasons. Fletcher may still be playing being older, but its because he can stay healthy enough to play every game, Urlacher can not Also, IIRC, during the Bears game this last week, I think he had said that he was starting to think of retirement. (He said if the Bears won the SB he was done, if not he would come back, but that was before getting hurt again) -
Mismanagement of Bills players is mind boggling?
apuszczalowski replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You do realise that for 2 of the last 3 years, they were trying to run a 3-4 instead of a 4-3. Players that played in a 4-3 may end up fitting in better at a different position in a 3-4. Do you think Moats would have excelled as a DE in a 3-4? Usually a 4-3 DE will fit better as a LB in a 3-4 system. I'm glad that they are willing to move guys around and look at them in other positions. With a Healthy Anderson, Kelsay, Mario Willams, Kyle Moore, and Shawne Merriman, do you think that Moats would have had a better chance sticking on this roster as a DE or LB? -
You can also throw in the fact that no one knows if the success of any of these players will last. Just look at Cam Newton, he went from breaking records last season to mediocrity in one offseason. Who knows if RGIII could end up doing the same? Christian Ponder looked really good last year at the end of the season for the Vikes, now he is struggling. We are already annointing Kaepernick the next greatest thing around here after 3 career games. Personally I think if they draft a QB early in the 1st this year, they should only take one, unless you take another really late (like 6th or 7th, or maybe undrafted) and let Fitz and TJ battle it out with the rookies for the starting job. I would let Thigpen walk, and think they are just holding TJ back. I don't think they intended to bring this guy in and keep him around this long if he was struggling to understand the offence or just flat out was horrible. They traded for him for a reason, but I think the reason is for next season. Basically, get him in when they had a chance, give him the playbook and some reps in practice to learn the offence, and then let him battle it out this offseason with Fitz for the starter job (it could backfire on them if he refuses to re-sign with them though)

From the previews on TV it looks like India was trying to do their own remake of Castaway, with a Tiger taking the place of Wilson.............
