Was there a solid plan on the QB after Tyrod left?
apuszczalowski replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even with Taylor they may have lost yesterday, but at least today we arent talking about how Allen now has to start because theres no way they could bring out Peterman again after another historically bad start. If the intent was to keep Allen off the field until he can learn the game better at the pro level, Taylor at least gives them a chance to stay in games. Yes everyone knows he isnt going to win it for them and he has faults/limitations, but he doesn't force them to put Allen in earlier then expected. -
When are the Bills going to cut Peterman?

Could it be any worse then letting a veteran go out there and play backyard football and make up plays in the huddle? IIRC, I think EJ had better stats then the guy the Raiders trade for to replace him? Lol -
What is the first phone call Beane makes today?

The team has little established talent and everything is being pinned onto the Hope's that a young linebacker and the biggest question mark QB in this years draft are going to both be all pros to lead this team in a couple of years when they can become good again. They can have all the cap space in the world, but they need to find players willing to sign here. And having all those picks is nothing if they are spent on players like Jones. This front office has been very good at hemorrhaging talent for picks, but hasnt shown they are capable of obtaining wood quality players to rebuild a consistent winner. -

McCaron might not have been a bad option to hang on to after he had a chance to get back into playing after the preseason injury, but Beane will trade anything if you dangle a draft pick in front of him..... -
WR Will be Toughest Position to Fix
apuszczalowski replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The D had no help out there spending the entire 1st half on the field. The offence didnt have a sustained drive until the 3rd quarter. The fact that the D gave up under 30 points in that 1st half is a good thing cause it could have been much worse with 0 offensive production. But same with the oline, they looked much worse because they were one dimensional because the Ravens just stacked the box to defend the run knowing that the QB is not a threat in the air and the WRs couldnt catch colds -

They started the second he was drafted 1st overall. And obviously the plan was to draft a QB, that wasnt the original point here, the point was did they have a plan outside of that. From what is being said, it appears Allen was always the guy they wanted and knew he would need to sit and develop, he wasnt a day 1 starter. The plan appeared to be dump Taylor for picks and then rummage around the scrap heap for a place holder option until Allen is ready. They didnt want to pay for quality, and McCown went back to the Jets, so they grabbed AJ cause he was cheap and may make them look good if he works out That came back to bite them when he missed a bit of Training Camp because of injury and then they thought Peterman was good enough. Now they are stuck with a guy who has yet to finish a start and had to be mercy pulled from the game cause he was so bad, and have to rush in the guy they didnt want to rush and have no other options outside of signing someone off the street -
I saw it to on the run near the endzone. There was a player from the defence that would have had McCoy but noticed he didnt have the ball so let him go and went after Allen. Looked like he was about to tackle McCoy just before the endzone but stopped and went for Allen Instead.

And best of all, he did it on one leg.....

Scott Van Pelt on ESPN

Same as last weeks unless they include CFL and college teams in. Maybe even other sports teams, Could the current Yankees team beat the Bill's in a football game? They were overtaken by the Jets last week when the Bill's tradsd AJ and announced Peterman would start -

Brady did say recently he would like to play another 5 years, I doubt any front office will be able to hold off ownership from firing them with a plan that we will be ready in 5 years once a really good player leaves a division rival. If I was an owner and the guys I hired I charge of running the team said part of their plan included waiting for someone to retire from an opponent before they could compete, they would be shown the door. I dont want guys that need certain conditions or situations in order to gain success. I want guys running my team that can beat the best that's out there -

Is that why he traded a draft pick to take on Colemans contract? The Pegulas have said that money isnt an issue, he can drill another well. This is the front office wanting to get their guys here and build what they want instead of adapting to what was already here. If he was trying to make things financially better for the team he wouldn't be signing or trading for guys then letting them go so quickly. -

Why? Chances are the league then suspends him for his incidents this offseason at the gym and funeral home and he wont be playing this year anyway. People need to get over him already, he is a mentally ill individual who's next headline will either be him getting arrested for killing some people or himself. He doesnt need more shots to the head playing football, it's the last place he needs to be. -
Run game needs to be a stable....
apuszczalowski replied to Bills4Ever4Life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The run game wasnt working because the Ravens spent the entire game lining up to stop the run on every play letting the Bill's try and pass it. They knew the Bill's QB wasnt a threat to beat them in the air and he proved them right. The line would have looked much better had the offence been more then one dimensional and not having to face constant attack to stop the run. For as bad as Taylor was as a passer, he was a threat to run and make plays with his legs that teams had to account for, just like what the Ravens are expecting from Jackson. Of course the offence was kept helped by having mediocre WRs who couldnt/wouldn't help out the QB by getting any separation or catching the ball when thrown to them. This team needs much better talent at that position, they need guys who can help make the QB look better and make catches that dont have to hit them square in the numbers. -
What's more shocking is what has he done except for putting up mediocre stats (albeit better stats that were better then the other guys this preseason) in the preseason to earn the right to continue on as part of the roster even as a backup? What has he done that's so great that most other available QBs couldn't give the Bill's? His only advantage is knowing the playbook already, sign someone now and give them 2-3 weeks and that advantage is gone. I do believe we may hear an announcement soon that the Bill's are signing Lynch this week.

You gotta trade McCoy now... right?

Well if there is anything this team needs more of, it's less talent and more draft picks...... -
Will anything change before week 2?
apuszczalowski replied to Brianmoorman4jesus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is getting as bad as running Wade out of town for not wearing a headset.. The offence is going to need a big game from Allen (or someone) with a couple of big plays to get defences to respect them and not just view them as one dimensional. Once they can show they can be a threat through the air, the running game can get going and the offence will look much better. If they can't do that, things will stay bad and probably get worse. Allen has the 'big play ability', they just need a game from him to show he can do it with what they have -
The defense honestly has me more worried
apuszczalowski replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not as worried, they can be better then today and with some time it should improve. No defence is going to do well when the offence doesn't get a 1st down until the 3rd quarter. Plus, after a few weeks, people may change tehir mind on the Ravens offence and find out they are better then many thought they would be this year. -
I think it all depends on what you expect from the different players. From Gaines, and Vlad, you don't expect much from them because you already know they aren't great Players. from someone like Benjamin, you expect him to play like a a #1, or atleast a good #2 who will help the QB out and make some plays.

How did that work out for the Seahawks last year? Do you know where the Seahawks were during the playoffs last year?
-
Theres a balance, if you can't be one of the few to get one of the leagues elite QBs, you hope you can get a very good one and surround them with other elite talent. Can Turbisky leading an offence with one of the better defences be good enough to compete for a SB? And atleast Bears fans can go home and look at this game in a few days and see that they had a chance to upset the packers, Unlike Bills fans who get to go home and start talking about the Draft or where they can find any kind of upgrades to hope to salvage their season after looking like they didn't belong in the league losing by more then 40 points. The Bears will go back to practice and can atleast see that they have the ability to be very good but need a litle bit of work. The Bills go to practice and pretty much have to work on improving everything about their game.
-
80 percent was being very conservative. Only the 1st 3 you mentioned are truly the elite guys that it seems your never out of a game with having on your roster. Wentz hasn't been in the league long enough to prove that, and Wilson hasn't been able to do much recently. You could consider at one point both Mannings as guys that could bring you back from any deficit but even then, 5 of 32 isnt many, and its not common that your going to even have a chance of ever getting one.
-
Not even close, Ryan already screwed up a good team that was handed so he could do things how he wanted. He wasn't around long enough to screw it up more, but his teams weren't getting better. Marrone/Whaley > Beane/McD might be a better comparison. People may hate to admit it, but Marrone had this team starting to move up before leaving and Ryan taking over.

But last years 0-16 Browns had 5 takeaways against the playoff steelers and they didn't win because Taylor couldn't win the game for them!
