  1. You don't think they could structure a contract to give themselves a little protection? Give him a nice raise in year 1, with one of these big contracts with all the guarantees kicking in at year 2, with an escape clause built in after the 1st year? Would be the same as him hitting FA next season, except he gets a raise in the meantime. I agree, doing what Washington did wouldn't be a great idea with Foles given the risk.
  2. I've been pretty adamant about doing whatever it takes to get one of the top rookies, and it's still my preference by a long shot, but I wouldn't be too upset with Foles for a 2nd (and maybe a player). Foles is a gamble, but so are the young guys. At least he has shown he's not a complete bust. And Foles + the rest of those early picks is a pretty decent position to be in.
  3. NOT hyperactive?? I had a lab years ago and that thing never stopped! I'm buying a home soon and want to get a puppy this spring, so I've been doing a lot of research on breeds. I love Goldens, but the more I read the more I think they're just too hyper. Warning after warning about how much exercise they need, and it's more than just the standard long walk every day. Has me a bit spooked because I'm a big believer that if a dog isn't getting the exercise they need they're just not happy. Anyone with Goldens disagree? Also looking at pits. Also energetic, but doesn't seem like quite the same extreme. I've had a few friends with pits over the years and they have all been outstanding dogs. BTW, I have a 4 year old and don't really like small dogs. My last was a Mastiff that is now living with my ex wife. Absolutely amazing dogs, but holy crap the drool....
  4. I assumed she was doing the same thing I was; waiting for the inevitable flag to hit the ground. I'd say it took me until about 20 seconds after the play ended before I finally started getting excited about the game being over.
  5. I was on board with the switch to Peterman, even assuming it meant we had a good chance of losing out. Making the playoffs, and everything that followed (Kyle Williams celebrating with this kids, the whole locker room celebrating, the fans at the airport, etc....) were awesome, and I'm glad they did it and I got that experience. So I guess, both.
  6. While that was fun, I'd rather see a video of the strip sack. That expectation and excitement turning into despair.
  7. I think it goes both ways. I don't think there's any excuse for someone to act that way; to treat anyone with such disrespect. It's also just a simple, guaranteed part of humanity, and I have no sympathy whatsoever for the girl in question if they dress that way. We don't get to do anything we want, without repercussion, just because we want to. Life just doesn't work that way.
  8. Sorry, I was using the medical condition as an excuse of why you wouldn't be able to keep a draft pick for more than one year (to compare with Foles being gone in FA after one more year). In Foles, the Eagles have an insurance policy for one year. If they trade him, they get a top end prospect who could be with the team for 10+ years. That's not even a decision.
  9. This idea is funny. Would you spend a first round draft pick on a backup QB who has a medical condition that will likely knock him out of football in a year? Neither would the Eagles. If someone offers a first for their backup QB who is almost 100% certainly gone after next season, they'll take it.
  10. I thought they would take a bigger hit (in recruiting, not wins) when Richt left, but man they haven't missed a beat.
  11. The Browns will be in the discussion for Cousins. The Bills need to give up whatever it takes to get "their guy" in the draft." Trying to get an actual strong QB talent in FA is ridiculous. Just go give up the draft picks and get your guy.
  12. This is the show I came in here to recommend. Definitely the darkest comedy I've ever seen. Loses the most of the comedy and turns to a dark drama by the end, but overall a really good show. Also REALLY short. I think it's like 8 30min episodes or something like that.
  13. I guess I'm looking at this from a "how does it affect the Bills" point of view. I agree with what you're saying, so to me it's logical that if you get a guy you think you can build around in FA, you can use a lower draft pick to pick up a QB in hopes of him turning into something. That bodes well for Buffalo who can give a team a chance to draft that guy AND another 1st rounder right after that (and likely another, possibly high, 1st rounder next year).
  14. It all depends on Free Agency. There are "decent" QB's available that some GMs may decide they can build around. GM's love draft picks! Minny QB's, Smith, Cousins, even AJ McCaron have the potential to shake up the draft predictions. If Cleveland gets Cousins anything could happen. If the Giants decide Mason Rudolph is a great QB option to sit behind Eli for two years, they could trade down. Anything can happen, especially this year when there's more "average" QB's available in FA.
  15. The hardest part is paying the players. Football rosters have so many players that it's tough to pay them all anywhere near what their willing to play for (for destroying their bodies). Nobody will pay ticket prices near high enough to pay everyone to keep it going. If a spring league is going to work for more than 1 year, it has to be subsidized by the NFL. Obviously that won't be the XFL. Anyway, I'll watch for as long as it lasts. I thought the last one was fun, even if it was only "football" in a very lenient definition.
  16. This is why I thought it was dangerous for Allen to go to the senior bowl. Better CBs and safeties and can't blame horrible WRs for bad throws. He better blow them away with "coach-ability".
  17. Might hurt his buzz, but I doubt it effects his draft position. Senior Bowl seems to be a very minor factor in draft decisions.
  18. 6 ft means he already has a lot to overcome in the NFL, but based on his college performance i think he can do it. Even though it's small, it's good news. Though the combine is and always has been the true measurement, so we'll see.
  19. If Rosen or Darnold are available at Indy's pick and we don't give up whatever it takes to get them, we're just not playing at the right level.
  20. Ryan Mallet had the strongest arm I can remember seeing. It was insane how quickly he could release a 40-50 yard dart. Of course he was also a statue. As previously stated, Russell had a cannon too. QB's like Allen aren't THAT rare, and they usually just don't work out.
