Did I miss it, or did they not actually say how she died? -
Teams do draft elsewhere than QB....
Acantha replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course that's true, that's why people say "potential" trade partner. The main reason people say this is that because most of the time, the QB talent plunges outside of the top 5 - 10, but most other positions tend to drop a little more steadily. Yes, there's still talent at the top of the draft that clearly outshines the others at the position (Chubb, Barkley, etc...), but even at those positions, the draw to trade down, get a boat load of additional picks, and still get a starter (or in the case with the Bills this year, two) later in the first round is harder to pass up. QB is unarguably the most important position on the team. If a team is need of a QB and doesn't take a possible franchise guy with their high pick, they're blowing it. The other positions just don't hold the same weight. -
Vikings Will Make a Strong Push for Cousins in UFA
Acantha replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's more important to ask, "What percentage of the cap should a team dedicate to the QB." That is of course assuming they believe they're signing a quality QB who can win them a Super Bowl. I'm guessing this contract puts them in the neighborhood of 15 - 16% per year (lower number this year, number goes up each year with cap). Is that too much? What's a good percentage? Again, this questions doesn't need to be QB specific. Everyone's opinion on the QB will differ, but obviously Minny thinks they would be getting the right guy. -
When restaurants get it wrong, what should happen?

I'm my experience, chef's rarely overcook. Unless I know better from experience, I always order medium and it usually comes closer to M-R. Off the top of my head I can only think of once that it was over cooked, and it wasn't by too much. I'm speaking of good steak houses btw, not Outback type. Pretty much a coin toss at those places no matter what you order. -

Where are the worst drivers located?
Acantha replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Montana has the highest per capita highway death rate, despite almost no traffic. Most other countries I've driven in have been at least as bad as the US. Most are downright scary. When I lived in Portugal, they had recently passed a "no driving while talking on a cell phone" law, so when phones rang people would just stop their cars in the middle of the road and talk. Not just something I saw once, either. It was fairly consistent for the first year or so. -
This is a thread all about Yolo giving credit to Michigan
Acantha replied to YoloinOhio's topic in College Football
I think he can go the Kiffin route and go back to a smaller school and be a head coach. He's not untalented, he's just incredibly weird and way too over confident. He's basically a less talented mini-Harbaugh. -

When McElwain left Florida, I thought, "he really needs to go to a bigger program and learn how to be a better head coach." I laughed my ass off when I heard it was going to be at Michigan with Harbaugh! I can't think of a worse role model for someone with McElwain's personality flaws. Oh well.... -
Last offseason I thought Rosen was the best of the bunch coming out this year. Nothing changed this season. IMO, he's the most NFL ready, has at least as high of a ceiling as the others, and the highest floor as well. Injuries are his big concern, but every QB in the class has a BIG concern floating around them, and every one of them are one hit away from being in the same spot as Rosen. If we had our pick of QB's, I'd take Rosen every time.

“Rested” Gary Barnidge ready to roll

And I bet you didn't know he wears his wedding ring during the game. -
Home Depot and Lowes allow dogs. Doesn't have to be a service dog.

Every team has a drop in talent as they go down the roster; the Bills had a cliff. When Gaines went out (every friggin game), the defense immediately began to give up bigger chunks. The difference was clear, and I don't even think Gaines is THAT good It's just how bad everyone behind him was. You can't get pro-bowlers everywhere, but you need to be able to continue to compete when one starter goes down.

No "Winds of Winter" this year either
Acantha replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Kind of. He certainly could have wrapped that series up long before he died. There were entire books in that series that could have been summed up in a chapter or two. I'm really hoping that he's at somewhat writing them together. Like Winds of Winter comes out and Dreams of Summer is 75% done. Then maybe it will only take him 10 years to finish that other 25%. -
AJ McCarron wins grievance vs Bengals, is UFA
Acantha replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would someone with so little experience be brought in to be a bridge QB? At that point, just start the rookie. -
Hope not. CB depth is horrible; they need more talent at the position. Gaines may end up being too much to keep, but getting Davis shouldn't rule out their attempt to re-sign Gaines.

Can't imagine wanting to read it. If he was just trying to make money off book sales by writing an excellent book describing his philosophy and routines, I would read it. As much as I despise the guy, what he's doing IS pretty incredible. But the whole book is about selling his products. Everything in it is going to have that slant and it would be impossible to separate reality from sales strategy.

Yes, the "in kind" (aka within the law) part is important.

Notable Nexflix / Amazon / Premium Channel Series & Movies
Acantha replied to Heitz's topic in Off the Wall
I really liked it, but my guess is it won't last long. It's a little too niche and comes across like it would have been expensive to produce. Also, Netflix is promoting the hell out of it, and it seems like every time they do that it doesn't work out. -
Most land in the "boonies" still have to follow county ordinances (which often include quiet hours). If it's not in the county rules, there are no covenants on the land and no HoA's, it pretty much is their right to do so. Also within the neighbors right to retaliate in kind.
