  1. Sign of the times. Journalism and reporting (not necessary to same things) is far too often heavily slanted in one direction or the other. I prefer it when I'm presented with facts and left to think rather than the ever popular heavily slanted sound bites and opinions that most run with these days.
  2. It wasn't odd to me, in fact, it seemed like a simple attempt to find a position for this big (athletic?) mountain. I would agree with both those who noted as DL, he didn't get any push in last years preseason, and that he did get pushed a round more than a guy his size should be.
  3. Just say NO to the standing Buffalo......
  4. Kamar Aiken last preseason looked the most like a WR of all (other than SJ). Don't believe he's very speedy though. Roosevelt looked decent at times, but clealry he's not the guy the Bill's brass is looking for. Donald Jones has most of the physical qualities, but is very raw and to this fan, not very impressive either. That experiment would be best put to rest....
  5. Bell has become far more than just OK when healthy. He's played well, and is far more mobile and athletic than is Hairston from what I've seen. Before Bell is thrown under the bus, let us remember that Hairston got hurt too and when he returned, he looked rather mediocre at best and frequently rather poor. The comparison with Jonas Jennings is a fair one however, as Bell has had a lot of trouble staying on the field. Yet, in 2010 after coming back from a knee injury and surgery, he did play and start in all 16 games, all while not being anywhere near a 100%. That showed guts and want to. Personally, I'd hate to see him go.
  6. McKelvin is a feats or famine CB, with more time of hunger than would be preferred. McGee may be old, but he has outplayed Florence, who has been brutally horrible and who basically gave the Giants their win over Buffalo. In fact, I expect McGee to actually up his game the longer he stays healthy, even though he's on the wrong side of 30.
  7. Dear God, I have been saying that for weeks, even before he got hurt.
  8. ...and to further add to the point, what does anyone think he was brought in for? It was well know we needed D help, even with the last draft stocking up on D. He hasn't added anything to this point. When he was in Dallas back in their early 90's heydey, they had the horses, and I don't recall him having to be too creative. He simply lined them up and let them play. Our D hasn't been strong enough to do this since 1999.
  9. Donal Jones needs to grab some pine. Karem Aiken looked more like a WR in preseason than Jones has looked for a year and a half. That's not a good sign. Sadly, to those mentioning Easley, he may have played his last bit of football. We haven't heard anything of his condition, which is also not a good sign.
  10. FG was the correct call, and the least of the issues with the Bills performance today. How about a Defense that can't make a third down play to save their lives. Or an offense unable to throw a pass more than 5 yards, and on a third and three, the WR runs a yard and a half route. Offensively, only Freddie showed up. Andy Levitre has done a decent job at LT, but the first couple of plays today, he was on another planet. He needs to get back to LG and either Hairston or Brittle Bell has to come back, and now.
  11. Rough couple of games? Without the the Ints in earlier games, we'd have more losses, 3 at least. The yardage the Bills give up and TOP is totally unacceptable.
  12. As a WR, Jones has been little more than a drive stopper for most of the season, with just a couple halves so far as exceptions.
  13. Sadly, who takes his place? Wanny? Wanny I'm sure has had his input, and maybe even some play calling as well and the results speak for themselves. Yet, a statement needs to be made to the defense that what they have done is unacceptable.
  14. Makes a lot of sense. Spencer Johnson could speel at Tackle, and Dwan Edwards and Carrington could battle it out for the Left Defensive End. One area of concern though is MLB, and Barnett, as well as he has played at times, is on the small side. He could find himself in a battle with Shepard for it. Chris White may also be in the MLB mix next year as well. This would leave OLB a real sore spot though, but it already is that anyway. We still have no known answers for LB's period going forward.
  15. Reality was that the Jets normally Blitz more often than they did yesterday, electing instead to keep their LBs crowding the short passing game Gailey and Fitz favor. I noticed a few more run blitzes than pass blitzes and their run blitzes were very effective. Even when we ran against 6 in the box, which was probably 4-5 times, we did very little overall, save one 20 plus yard run by Jackson. Play after play, it seemed as if the Jets knew where we were going before we did. Chan needs to work on that. Our tendencies are pretty well known now. Oh, and no more pass completions short of the first down. Any WR who comes up a yard or less short in their route needs to be taken to the woodshed.
  16. Stirring the pot again, eh?
  17. Anyone with any sense at all would agree the Bills still have a ways to go. I saw Coleman get some action and maybe it was rust, but he got whipped the few times I saw him in the game. Once by a RB who made a nice gain on a off tackle play he should have made for the Bills. We speak of having depth issues, yet defensively we are short of OLB's (which I believe is why Kelsay is still here in that we haven't anyone better). Moats and Batten were both complete non-factors yesterday and Shepard has a long way to go inside as well. Pass rush has been a need, and all the naysayers aside, Schobel was out only skilled pass rusher in a long time and we must find another consistent pass rushing threat. I don't believe he is currently on the roster today. Offensively, we are tied to a QB who can be wild and inconsistent who has yet to prove he can go long effectively. Too many underthrown passes when he does. Like Edwards, teams do not respect the long ball from our Bills, which also like Edwards, teams jam and crowd the short game which we have been seeing more and more of lately.
  18. His body of work, before and after his injury hasn't impresssed me a heck of a lot. One solid game, bits of good with bits of bad in 2-3 others, disappears at times as well. He must show well in practice though as in a number of games, Fitz went to him early and first half action hasn't been Jones stong suit. Seems to play better in the second. Yet, he's raw, and he's young. He may still yet develop. As has been said around here many times, Eric Moulds took three years to explode.
  19. Good point.... Most would not have had much hope, but then after dismal play in preseason, it looked a bit downbeat anyway.
  20. Jeez....you sound as if he played in the 60's and 70's. Schobel consistently lined up against Tackles who were well over 300 lbs. To be fair, you know jack...#!&% !!!! Schobel was a very good player, period.
  21. He's brought something to this team that we went over a decade trying to find. Heart and and offense that is capable of moving the ball.
  22. Sacks often require both good coverage by secondary and the rush combined. I for one am pleased that McGee is back. He's been playing well.
  23. The Giants game was lost on the woefully under thrown ball to Stevie around the Giants 4 yard line with 4 minutes to go. Right call, disastrous throw. The Bengals dominated the second half. Our offense sucked as well as our defense. Both were close games that the bills let get away. Yet we also won twice in a row after being down by 18 so ........
  24. Moats may well develop, but he reminds me a lot of Kelsay's pass rush of yore. Big wide 4-5 second route to QB. I like his 'Motor" but he's not quite there yet. He definitely appears superior to Batten though at this point.
  25. I was just thinking the same thing. Seemed like the officials, with his forward progress long stopped, let the Ravens attack him with a swarm until desired result had been fulfilled.
