Steve McMichael from the 85 Bears now in hospice care
DrDawkinstein replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Mongo! Sad news. I was too young to remember him playing but I just watched the 30for30 on the 85 Bears and he is great in it. Recommend watching. -
Who on this board would you choose to make our draft picks?

What are your NFL Draft Night Plans?
DrDawkinstein replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Har Mar Superstar is playing a show about 200 yds from my house so I'll be there, funkin it up. Made the mistake last year of going out for the draft with friends, waited all night for the Bills to pick, and was sent home empty-handed. I'll be checking pick updates on my phone, and the show will probably be over by the time the Bills pick anyways. -
When Easter falls on 4/20 there shouldnt be that much stress. Celebrate the "real" holiday first thing and then all you'll worry about is how to scam enough munchies out of your kids' baskets and still have them not notice. 😎

I havent read the thread yet, but I'll preemptively thank everyone that mentioned me. You are all too kind. And good on ya for being able to recognize genius when you see it. -
For sure. I mean, we talk about her being his "kid" but she's 58 years old and the youngest of his children. She probably has her own grandkids she's chasing around, or whatever. Certainly her own life. Plus, I have to imagine children of famous celebrities have very different relationships with their parents than a lot of us. Who knows what "normal" is for them.

I dont understand why anyone would try to tear her down. I dont see anything saying she has any problems in this article, nor do I care to debate it. Let the family grieve. Tragic things happen.

Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)

He looked pretty cooked on the Rams and Ravens. Hoping for the best tho -

UP TO I'm guessing it's really closer to $3M base. Maybe even less. If we end up paying him anything close to $6.8M that will be a good thing because it means he's had a huge resurgence and hit a bunch of incentives. But that's an unlikely scenario. -

Rodgers givin’ the boot from the Jets
DrDawkinstein replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
This all makes Glenn look better, imo. If he truly qualifies for a HC job in the NFL then he doesnt need to hear Rodgers' opinion on a culture RODGERS HIMSELF cultivated and lead. Sure, there are larger, overarching problems in the organization. But Glenn cant cut Woody Johnson. Rodgers thinking he should have been consulted on what was wrong with a team that HE played for and lead, that HE forced his OC onto, that HE forced the players he wanted onto... shows exactly why he shouldnt be consulted in the first place. You think Rodgers is going to call out his own behavior point out the Jets were stupid to kowtow to his every demand? Worthless conversation, imo and in Glenn's opinion. -

Thanks, Coach! It's been fun! But it was clear over the last couple of seasons that he shouldnt be on a live broadcast anymore. Wishing him a long and happy retirement!

What is your draft doomsday scenario?
DrDawkinstein replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
That has definitely been a great part of the recent seasons. Especially the last 2 with Jets/Rogers. Specifically thinking about week 7 of this past season. Not only did we get to start the day watching our great Bills team blowout the Titans, 34-10. But then we also got to watch the Jets get trounced on a national stage as the Steelers beat them on SNF, 37-15. Chef's kiss to a perfect day. -

Yeah, the Bills being good has really ruined the draft (and all pre-draft activities) for me. No telling who will be there at 30, or what that talent pool looks like. I guess I'll take it But I do miss the days of diving into all the top-prospect data and locking in on a guy I covet. -
One of our Bills Tailgates constants. Thick sliced, a few cuts on the edges. Peppers and onions offered. I like mine with some Weber's as well. Would smash one right now.

Is he though? IIRC, from what I've heard/read, having grown up in and around professional sports, he is one of the most polished kids as it pertains to handling the media, dealing with adversity, etc. I forget if it was Graziano or Pelissero or whoever, just did a piece on how, the physical traits (arm strength, etc) may not be there, but he has been trained from birth on how to be a professional and act accordingly. I know he and PrimeTime are a bit self-promoting, but that might fit NYC perfectly. But I'm also not much of a Deion hater. -

I understand Hill, but what has Waddle or Achane done to show they are problematic? And for as much flack as I give McD, I fully believe he would be capable of keeping any/all of them in line better than McDaniel. -

Oh for sure, agreed all the way. I'm just going off the recent report that the Giants are holding private workouts for Sanders and other QBs, and they obviously need a new QB (whether or not there is a good candidate in this draft). Thinking strategically, if they do draft a QB at #3 then that means Schoen/Daboll have owner permission to draft a QB, and if they have that buy-in from the owner it might indicate that Mara is willing to give them more time in order to develop said QB. Not saying there they should draft a QB, or that there is a good one to draft. wrt to the QB room, I think it's a weird room personality-wise. Wilson with his overly-groomed "public persona", and Winston just a weirdo in general out there licking his fingers trying to "eat a W"... then throw in a Shadeur Sanders... would love to have the Hard Knocks footage from that room. -
To the bold, absolutely weird and bizarre. But it kinda reminds me of an old coworker who got PIP'ed on a Monday, and on Tuesday filed for medical leave, and then milked that medical leave for over 8 months before the company could get their legal ducks in a row to fire him. But that coworker was weird and bizarre as well.
-
Not sure it's bizarre or even surprising. Sounds like some classic Derek Carr to be honest. Not interested in being a bridge QB or mentoring a rookie. So make him the man and build around him or trade/release him. Sure, you'd want better from the guy, but I also wouldnt be too surprised if I were a GM. All QBs have big egos.

Does drafting a QB early and selling the story of he/we need a couple years together to develop buy them some time? I cant imagine an owner as meddling as Mara would be happy using an early pick on a QB who his next regime might not even want. Side note: a Giants QB room of Wilson, Winston, and Sanders is such a weird room. -
DT-DT-DT with our first 3 picks! If nothing else, this exercise always provides perspective on why we are at home and not in the FO.

Grier and McDaniel are dead men walking. I wouldnt be surprised if owner Stephen Ross was behind this opinion piece at some level. He wants to fire Grier, but also wants to replace both the HC and GM at the same time, so Grier has been given one more (lame duck) year, and they're already laying the groundwork to move on from McDaniel. You love to see it.
