I also still have my old vinyl. Mostly 60's and early 70's. About 68 I started taping whatever I had to reel to reel because I hated to hear the records skip when there was any kind of disturbance. A fair number of my later albums are therefore rather pristine.

Need to hear some cancer survival stories
Greybeard replied to Process's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My grandmother on my mother's side had stomach cancer in the early 60's. She had surgery and lived 25 more years. No chemo at that time. And while the family always referred to it as stomach cancer, I believe it was her intestine. On a side note, my son had a DNA test and it showed he had the indicator for intestinal cancer. He also had the indicator for heart issues, which came from my father's side of the family. I recently had my 50th high school reunion and one girl in my class beat cancer 4 times. It pays to have a positive attitude. The body is sometimes capable of amazing things. -
The show "Whose line ..." is amazing. If they really do all that spontaneously, they are talented beyond belief. Even if it is prepared, it is dam good and the individuals in it make the show.

That was pretty funny. I should have thought someone would do that when I posted, but I totally missed it.

Despite having read a bit of this thread a week ago, I just read the title and said "what the hell does tesla have to do with a bowie knife." Getting old makes things like that happen.

It is good to know you know the album. I listen to a lot of music with headphones and the sound of the Martians opening up their capsule just sticks with me. The imagery the sounds paint in the album are so real. It harkens back to when radio was "THE" medium. Must be 20 years since I have given the entire album a listen. Must be overdue.

American Airlines employee crushes girls dreams...

I am a bit disappointed they did not set up a sting on the NY end. -
Thanks for correcting me. I have thought Michael Brown was the writer for years. It was odd in the video's of both bands they hardly showed him. All to often the vids are too centered on the lead singer. Even some video's with a great guitar part.

I have a slightly similar story. I heard Tuesday Afternoon in what I believe was the end of January of 1968. I was listening to CHUM at the time. It was one of those songs that when you heard it the first time, you just had to here it again. Not many songs you like instantly. There used to be a band in southern Ontario called Major Hooples Boarding House that did a great version of Tuesday Afternoon and SeeSaw. The SeeSaw version was almost identical to the Moodies. Also if you liked the MB's you may have missed this great song, from Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds." It is by Justin Haywood. The Jeff Wayne album is worth a listen and Forever Autumn fits it perfectly.

Yes. He wrote both songs and played keyboard on both. He was the main force behind The Left Bank. That Left Bank album is one of my top 10 albums. The music is very distinctive. It was supposed to be Baroque rock. Did you know that or look it up?

I am a bit late with this but a day or two ago, they interviewed an AUT crosscountry skier or biathlon athlete who won the bronze. I am going to paraphrase a bit but his reply was something like, " I train by myself, I compete by myself, I am happy I won the metal." He didn't give that standard line " I am so happy I can do this for my country."

This post gets high Nielsen ratings!! -
What do these two songs have in common? I tried to imbed a version that shows the band playing but Youtube blocked it.

I don't recall any team or individual winning by so much. The guy is a 0.5 sec ahead at the first timer and basically just holds it the rest of the way. I guess that is what happens when an ex-track guy gets into the sport. I assume the more runs he gets in the future will only make him better.

Notable Nexflix / Amazon / Premium Channel Series & Movies
Greybeard replied to Heitz's topic in Off the Wall
I like your list, at least those that I have seen. If you like Korean movies there are a couple of movies I could recommend, but won't unless you ask because I had to use Kodi to watch them. Mrs Maziel is a great break from the more serious entry's. I agree the lady playing Mrs Maziel does a great job. I find a lot of the humor perfect for me and I also like the period it is set in. Liked the first year of Broadchurch, haven't watched the next two. Typically British, but I like that, in TV anyway. There is no way you get an idea of what the show is about by the title, Happy Valley . I also thought it was excellant. Based on your list, I think I will give The Bridge a look. Just checked, it is not on Netflix and is pay for view on Amazon, so I guess it goes to the Kodi list. Also, if you enjoyed Happy Valley, try Hinterland., on Netflix. -
On a unrelated subject, I'm glad to see you have broken the bonds of internet suppression.

I saw the Fifth Estate story on Tim. The guy that killed him was total evil. The total randomness of the event makes the story beyond scary. I happened to find that story on a Kodi channel with a lot of other documentaries. The Fifth Estate is a first rate program.

It could have been a loss. How do they know what price you obtained it at?

Here is a video of what happens when an arc flash occurs. In this case I believe it is a 480 V circuit which is common in the US. Higher voltages make it worse. I am guessing most here have never heard of this. Work in a factory? You have all kinds of circuits around that operate on this voltage.
