I agree entirely with the need to stock the Oline. I like Bergeron in the second. I sorta like Steen and a few other project OTs later on. I'm not really seeing a potential LT in the bunch. It's possible Bates is next C. If you want a Morse clone, apparently Joe Tippman is the fella. I think you have to take him at 59.
-
The problem is who is even a possible candidate at 27 for potential LT? I'd love to follow your plan, but I don't see it.

I had both Bergeron and Washington slotted as fellas I would like in the second. If you want Washington, you'd have to trade up from 59. The way the mocks have played out, I've tilted Washington towards an outside consideration at 27. What I fear is that the two guards signed in FA are going to be the only substantial investment thrown at improving the oline and that Beane is counting on Brown playing much better. That's crazy talk, imo, and if that's his gambit and it doesn't work, he'll deserve all the grief that comes his way.

The question is whether or not there will be an olineman or wr that merits the pick at 27. Does Washington help the blocking more than an OL prospect that likely doesn't see the field because he's not a day one starter? WR group is bad. I don't really like Hyatt at 27. If you end up with Washington and Matthew Bergeron in the second that would palpably help the oline imo. I am skeptical that Beane will spend the first two picks on offense, however.

Mayer may be the best traditional TE out there. Kincaid is a better receiving threat. Washington is a monster blocker. -
I'm not sure how much room there is to grow as an offensive threat. He helps the oline and blocking immediately and that's no small thing. He's also a RZ threat out of the box.

Not a chance he gets to 59.

Maybe we should be thinking about this fella? -
I wouldn't hate it. Was hoping to get him in the second with a trade up. You might consider a trade back from 27. Given the nature of this draft, I think maybe you stick at 27 and take the fella. The LB folks are going to riot. I would rather trade up for Kincaid, btw. He's not a blocker and Washington is great there, but Kincaid is a threat all over the field.

Semantics is all fun and games until money is involved. You're going to scare @HOUSE. I don't think he even gambles with monopoly money.

I understand. I think you are underrating where Quinn is now and he is going to get better. I think he is already considered core by KA and the coaching staff. Peterka is not there yet. I just believe he is likely to get there. Jost is a try hard bottom six who is probably right now your 13th forward. He may or may not be back. I like Krebs. He needs to get stronger and continue to develop. I think he can be a pesky bottom six player. I don't see his ceiling as core, however. I like him as 4C that could grow into a 3C. VO is the most probable piece to be moved in a package for a top 4D. There are a lot of pretty good UFA D this year as well. Wouldn't shock me to see either the 2023 1st or 2024 1st included in a trade to get immediate help. It's a crucial offseason -- and the sheer number of promising forwards in the system means they will have to evaluate quicker. Otherwise, teams will lowball KA in trades knowing he can't find a spot for everyone. My guess is they keep Girgs and Okposo retires, but it's not impossible that both are back. I'd like to see Rousek get a shot and that won't happen if they bring both back. I am guessing Savoie makes the team and Kulich is an early call up from Rochester.

If the rumors that Beane is looking to trade up have any merit, I think it would be for an offensive playmaker. I think it should be Kincaid, but I surmise he might go up for Addison or even Johnston if they want to gamble on a boom or bust pick. If they stay where they are and everything plays out as speculated, I would rather take Mayer but I concur with the probability that they take Mazi Smith. (Not my favorite, but if they are going D, he's not a bad choice.) -

Plausible rationale offered throughout. I don't think any of the explanations come across as strained. If the draft plays out this way, I would be pretty unhappy if the Bills didn't find a way to trade up for either Addison or Kincaid, the latter being my preference as I think he has the potential to be a dangerous weapon. Hyatt is really a second rounder which is often the case late first round. Do better Beane. -

You're going to blame the young woman who has known him since they were kids and if all this is true was the one who was cheated on? And wanting fidelity in a relationship makes her a gold digging wench? Your moral compass is in bad shape, fella. -
I do like Rice and Mingo as third round picks if that's the way it plays out. I'd take a shot with Bryce Ford-Wheaton as a later round developmental project with good size. I wanted to trade up for Jameson Williams last year, because you could see this was going to be a down year at the position then.

I sure as hell prefer that result than taking a LB at 27.

Dunno, we always seem to be on the wrong end of bad calls. I was living in Dallas when Brett Hull stole a Stanley Cup. Getting kind of sick of it.

The whole story makes me sad, but I am old fashioned. -
I understand. I have a feeling Beane is going to make a move up if an offensive playmaker gets in range, but that may be delusion. The other part of me thinks he's going to stick with D. I strongly disagree with you Campbellites, but I don't like to argue religious differences in a football forum so I'll leave it at that. One of the posters I find insightful @MrEpsYtown doesn't think Wright pushes Brown year one and is not a prudent pick at 27. @BADOLBILZ argues that OL normally take years to develop. I like Paris Johnson or even Broderick Jones in the first, but they won't be there.
