  1. I'm a big Washington fan. Still think this is early, but you definitely have to trade back from 27 or up from 59. I wouldn't hate the play at 27 depending on whose left on the board. I sort of like Hyatt at 59, so overall I think it is intriguing, though I would be shocked if Beane uses the first two picks on offense. My alternate version with two offense early picks: Dalton Kincaid at 27 (if available) and Matthew Bergeron at 59.
  2. It's a terrible draft for WR. If you want a slot, Zay Flowers or Josh Downs fit, but I wouldn't take them at 27 and they won't make it to 59. Taking Mingo in the first is absolute crazy talk. I am a broken record on this: there aren't any good WR2. You can try someone like Mingo with a mid-round pick. Basically the Gabe Davis experiment. Maybe it works. Staff may love Gabe's work ethic. His numbers are not bad, but he's not that good. I would go after Dalton Kincaid. He'll be better than the WR choices on the board if he isn't picked before 27.
  3. All those picks Beane wasted on mediocre DL and it's still a need. I think Mazi Smith is a possibility. Not a bad player and DT is better value than LB, but still wouldn't make me happy. I agree about signing a vet LB or minimally trading back. I am not really sold on any of the potential first round OT outside of Paris Johnson who will definitely go early. Broderick Jones I'm a little less sure of, but I'd be pretty happy to get him. I don't see him lasting to 27. Matthew Bergeron in the second is a fella I've had my eye on, though he might only be a guard. I think he's going to be good, though.
  4. I don't think it will happen either. He's not listed on the 30 visits allowed to each team and that is usually one of the prerequisites for the Bills' first pick. Pretty astute poster said if a visit shows up late, that might be a tell. I'd take Kincaid over the probable available wrs. What I expect is Beane is going to take a damn lb and I'm going to yell at the telly and scare my cats.
  5. Lack of video a definite deficit. Marino has a good reputation, apparently. I never watched him before that posted video, so I don't have an informed opinion beyond his reputation. I'm not happy with Davis, but I suspect no one better is going to be on the team to challenge him, so he'll have next year to prove himself one way or the other.
  6. Narrowly avoided a pinch. Somewhat in danger.
  7. Very pithy reduction of Marino: He doesn't think greater health is going to alter his contributions. He thinks Davis has developed into what he is. Davis has slow build up speed. He gets open downfield. He isn't a threat for short and intermediate balls. He puts himself into a good position to catch the ball, but his technique for actually catching is not ideal. Marino says he is a "horizontal clapper" and has probably been catching that way from the beginning. Rather than forming a kind of diamond with his hands to softly catch the ball, he tries to clap his hands onto it which is a method that intrinsically has a higher miss rate. Davis' numbers are good for a WR2, but they are somewhat deceptive for a high volume passing offense. Marino thinks he is a superior WR4; an adequate WR2 whose flaws will be something you have to live with.
  8. I think Stetson Bennett has a pretty good chance to stick as a backup qb.
  9. Kincaid is a chain mover the way Kelce is. I'm not saying he is Kelce, but he's that kind of TE and I think he can develop quickly into a threat you have to prepare for. I don't see using him in 12 personnel as slowing the offense down or making it less capable of explosive plays. Anyway, I like Knox and don't want to get rid of him to allocate funds elsewhere. I think he is underutilized, but that's not his fault. I think of Kincaid as someone who can be an alternative focus to WR2 rather than a replacement for TE1.
  10. The point of drafting Kincaid is not to replace Knox. His production is limited by Dorsey and maybe Josh Allen not looking for him enough. It's not a limitation rooted in Knox's deficiencies. You draft Kincaid and use 12 personnel to put Knox and him on the field at the same time.
  11. I selected him, but looks like I'm the only one. He's going to get voted off the island when Virgil skims off the no chance fellas.
  12. Dalton Kincaid. Darnell Washington (not both, obviously.) Matthew Bergeron.
  13. Yes, that is the apt verb, but I'm going to stick with eradicate as an acceptable alternative for get rid of. Yours is more correct, but somehow I find it less funny.
  14. I chose Smith, though Zavala is probably the correct play. Youth at safety is a proper consideration at any rate. Why Smith over Battle? It's a toss-up, but I'm an UGA fan and if you can't pick your guy in a meaningless faux draft, what's the point of playing pretend GM? Rb room is fine. Let's take a break from day two running backs.
  15. Christopher Smith is the best player on that board. Don't know if safety is the right pick.
  16. Someone posted Joe Marino's Locked On podcast from a few days ago I think where he discusses Gabe Davis at length. I thought it was pretty fair, looking at what is good in his game and what is not. Some of the negative issues are not likely to change, imo. I searched for this so I could advise you where to find it, but the keywords I tried did not bring it up. It's probably somewhere in the endless Hopkins' thread. I like the RB room considerably more than you. I think Cook is better than a 3rd down specialist. Damien Harris is more than a goal line specialist, provided he can stay healthy. Hines could offer more if Dorsey learns how to make use of pass catching running backs. If you don't go LB early, there isn't a lot. Some suggest Henley or Overshown but they are not inside lbs. Not writing home about any of them. I like Trenton Simpson, then Drew Sanders, then Campbell, so I am an outlier from those who are enamored with Capt. Jack. If they take him, I suppose he is a safe, high floor guy, but I think his ceiling is limited. Of course, if we pick him I'll hope he is great. He's old school and that is both admirable and easy to like. I think Campbell is Paul Posluszny. Another fella on here suggested Jack Del Rio as a comp. I just don't like him at 27 and I don't like the notion that one is forced to take a first round lb because of need. I believe McDermott ought to be able to do more with less. They need to stop gobbling up the first round picks on D. It's possible, of course, that there won't be an offensive player worth taking at 27, but I'd still prefer to give priority there unless it's just plain obvious there is no one worth the pick on that side of the ball. Folks don't think TE2 is valuable enough, but I make an exception for Dalton Kincaid. I think he's a weapon and likely better than any WR available at 27. I'll be . . . unhappy, if they go LB, DT with the first two picks which I surmise is their natural bent. If you wait to the second round for an offensive player, I like Matthew Bergeron and Darnell Washington, though Washington goes well before 59. (TE is one of the richer positions in the draft and I think Dorsey should make 12 personnel a base formation. Some folks don't like that. Jimmy crack corn and I don't care.) I do agree that Beane needs a strong draft, so whether I agree with his strategy or not, we're all hoping he hits.
  17. I'd answer you with proper vigor, but I'm rather busy looking for a spittoon to eradicate some chaw just now.
  18. It's all good. We're going to take Paris Johnson at 91.
  19. I don't think one should give into despair because a first year OC had some first year OC issues. He may not be up to the job, but I'm not drafting based on that assumption. Davis is not better than his numbers. I think that's what he is. I'm very aware of Cook. I live near Athens. Where the offense needs addition imo is oline, especially competition at RT, WR2, and TE2. I personally prioritize the offense over D. I am not fixated on replacing Edmunds because I think a veteran FA can be brought in after the draft as a stop gap for a year if you don't get the fella you want. I would rather try that and bulk up the offense. This is an offense dominated league. The NFL wants it that way. The rules are that way. The game is officiated that way. We ought not to do to Josh Allen what the Packers did to Aaron Rodgers waiting to the mid rounds in the draft to throw him a bone.
  20. One man's dream a little is another's nightmare. Folks who keep punting on offense dismay me.
  21. I don't agree with you there. Cook has more potential than that. It's up to Dorsey to use him. Knox is a better TE than his numbers, as well. Player has to be given the opportunities to make the plays.
  22. Correct, just checked. Dean went 83, Bernard 89.
  23. I'm not happy with any of them at 27, but Simpson is the fella I prefer. I think he has the best chance to fill Tremaine's role over time.
  24. Pretty sure you have repeated your narrative with the logic behind it enough that anyone who is more than a casual reader of this board is aware of it. We'll see if it works out that way.
  25. I think he's just saying if there appear to be a lot of posts in a single day, it will probably indicate that something happened. It has nothing to do with random twitter posts from dubious sources and the like.
