  1. You can't prove a counter-factual, but I think if he is here from the start, Sabres are easily north of 100 points.
  2. Stop telling the other GMs who to pick.
  3. There are plenty of good discussions that could be searched were one good at that sort of thing and possessed of sufficient leisure on where Davis ranks as a wr that reference his catch percentage, stats that show how in a few games he was very productive and practically absent in many, etc. Folks argue that wr2 plays a specific role and that wide variance in performance from game to game is common; that you can't know for instance if in a particular gameplan the wr2 isn't mainly being used to run long go-routes to clear out space underneath for other targets. Some suggest that Davis is not a chain mover wr and that his forte is naturally going to involve lower percentage catch scenarios. These are qualitative considerations. I'm not a gofer to pull up the stats or type out dozens of names at the behest of a request that takes ten seconds to type out. The point is that I am aware the calculations are rather complex in making an assessment, but in general, for whatever reason, Davis too often had games where drops were an issue or where he was not enough of a threat to offer a compelling secondary worry for the opposing D. Most likely deficiencies at the slot position were at least as significant a factor in the offense breaking down, along with a porous oline, Josh's injury, and Dorsey's presence as a first year OC. Nonetheless, imo, he was not any better than adequate and often far too inconsistent and injury prone to be judged above low end wr2.
  4. 27. Dalton Kincaid TE Utah 59. Drew Sanders LB Arkansas 91. Matthew Bergeron OT Syracuse 130. Bryce Ford-Wheaton WR West Virginia 137. Olusegun Oluwatimi OC Michigan 205. Dante Stills DT West Virginia
  5. If they go cb again in the first I really will lose it. I'd rather take Mazi over Jack Campbell if they are going to burn another first rounder on D. I would probably take Mayer from that list.
  6. I think the guards signed in FA are pretty modest upgrades, though Saffold was awful, so it should help. I'd like to grab an OT prospect in round two or three. I think they need more than a tweak to the WR group, but it's a poor draft for WR. I don't think we can actually afford Hopkins. As I have said quite a bit, I like the TE group. I would treat Kincaid as a substitute for a WR pick at 27. If they go D in the first, I'd like to trade up from 59 and grab Darnell Washington. Those are my preferences. I am less worried about MLB. I think you could sign a fella like Myles Jack after the draft and survive if you didn't find a player in the draft. I am not as high on Campbell as many of you are. He's a high floor fella. I don't think he's going to be great. I don't look words up in a thesaurus. That's how I speak. I'm not going to apologize. If you don't like it, put me on ignore. This is a football message board. I offer my opinions and interact with fellow fans of the team. I think that is how it is supposed to work.
  7. If Josh isn't unhappy with his oline I would be quite surprised.
  8. Maybe we ought to grab the potential young Kelce.
  9. Well, I think that is a cogent consideration. Some on this board think it is ill-advised or even ridiculous to believe that could be a factor in Beane's decision making process. You don't want to let the players dictate your team building, but it seems reasonable to me that when your top players on offense are unhappy with the personnel and one of them is the franchise qb you ought to give that some weight. I don't believe he really thinks that and if he does, he's flat out wrong. He's a low end WR2.
  10. I think you're joking, but if you want to make Diggs happy, get him a better WR2 and OL help for Josh.
  11. You couldn't have at least picked an NFC team?
  12. Yes, as I explained upthread, I do not get NFL Network. I recalled that Brooks used to do mock drafts and guessed that he might be the fella.
  13. I don't see Hyatt as a first round wr. Johnson is boom or bust, but I think he could be DK Metcalf. I don't equate him with Hodgins who is a big slot. Our TE2s have been an afterthought. I'm considering a scenario where Dorsey would make 12 personnel more of a staple. Kincaid, Mayer, Washington, and LaPorta are the top four at the position with differing skill sets. Kincaid has the most dangerous offensive potential, imo, but he's not a blocker. Washington is a monster blocker, but limited to a RZ offensive threat. I think TE is one of the stronger talent positions in a weak draft, so I personally hope we grab one of these guys.
  14. Yes, I was really just adverting to the response that is typically given when folks mention the inequity. While true, it is still annoying. The bitter irony was meant to be in the last part which is that somehow the way the algorithm works, we seem to be penalized for winning the division, with the further bitter thought that if the Chiefs were terrible or we had no chance to plausibly compete for the SB, we then would also not seemingly have to play them every year at Arrowhead. Mechanical, impersonal, yet there is still the sting of cosmic malice . . .
  15. I'm writing all this down. I hate to commit an etiquette breach on truly important matters.
  16. The Bills in the 1991 Super Bowl were overconfident after rolling the Raiders 51 - 3. There might have been a bit of ego last year early on when we were dominating, but I don't think it perdured throughout the season. By the end, the cumulative toll of unprecedented crises and injury was too much. (Also, more than Frazier, I think some first year issues with Dorsey were a problem that increased tensions over the course of the year.)
  17. And someone will patiently explain that it's just an algorithm used by the league and nothing personal. All we have to do is stop winning our division. As soon as we are not good enough to compete for the Super Bowl, we won't have to play them at Arrowhead.
  18. Just past 10 am here and I wish I was at the pub.
  19. Folks won't like positional value, but I am open to this as well. I sure as hell would rather go this direction than MLB at 27. I also wouldn't rule out Kincaid and Mayer in the first, though if you want blocking help for the OL, Washington is your fella. I do think there are a handful of wrs that Beane should pick at 27 if they are available. Still think they are hardwired to go D, but we'll see.
  20. I think it is unlikely, but I don't agree with you here. The contract is the largest sticking point. I suspect Hopkins gets traded closer to the actual draft. Either it happens then or maybe teams see where they are after the draft and reassess, but I would think the Cardinals want draft capital for this year.
  21. Interesting.
  22. I truly hope this is correct. I also don't think it is ridiculous to think Spector might be a real consideration to replace Edmunds.
  23. Just reported that OBJ apparently signed with the Ravens. I understand your point. Trade back might be best if you can find a partner with a decent return. What I am saying is I would still be inclined to do something like Hyatt and Matthew Bergeron and still skip MLB in the second. I really like Darnell Washington in the second, because as I am now going to annoyingly repeat from other posts, he adds a powerful blocker that aids the oline, a RZ threat, and credible 12 personnel play calls.
  24. Sorry, old friend. I'm not on the MLB train, even for Jack Campbell. I'll understand if we have to stop talking now.
  25. I am very unhappy with you. Very.
