  1. Yeah, they purchased another forward lateral.
  2. Generally agree, though I think rb is in play day two or early three as well.
  3. Does this mean Oliver is our target? You and Beane are both on a roll.
  4. Honestly, I was just thinking about that last night. You could do a lot worse imo.
  5. Juvenile and garish. Wouldn't wear it if it were free.
  6. Sweat and Gary are the fellas I have the most skepticism towards.
  7. Sunday morning I'm usually pretty sleepy myself. I have a friend who is an Orthodox priest. I wonder if he'd do an exorcism to get rid of a ghost?
  8. Guess you missed the sarcasm. I called the other fella out for condescending aplomb. Then I was sketching out his dismissal of those who disagree with him.
  9. Yes, but he is lost with condescending aplomb, so there's that. Meanwhile, you are ignorant, don't know statistics, and don't realize Allen is epically challenged on basic skills and has little chance of even being an average qb.
  10. One draft is not enough to establish a pattern, of course, but Beane was proactive in last yrs draft, so I expect if there are blue chip players he covets, he will move around to get a player. Maybe a trade ends up involving a combination of players and picks. He could move back and then trade back up, but if they really like a top five player, that strategy is out. I simply don't think he's going to sit and let the draft come to him in the first three rounds.
  11. I like Ed Oliver and have been focusing on DL at nine. I think there are some fairly good wrs likely available in round two. If they go Metcalf, I'll be excited, while still feeling there's more risk there than I'd like. If he is in the conversation you allude to, you have to go get him for Josh.
  12. I seriously doubt the plan is to make small moves in the middle of the draft.
  13. I have no idea if they are moving up for Oliver, but I liked Allen before the draft and I also like Oliver.
  14. Well, if we're going to pick a player who is already gone, might as well select Bosa.
  15. Happy Birthday, Terry. You're a decent fella who happens to be a billionaire. Probably not too many of those. P.S. Royal Blue is the Sabres' color.
  16. Well written, as always, yet isn't the point of your overall comment that it can't always be Allen, for better or worse? No doubt, Allen will retain the gunslinger streak. That's exciting and he has the arm to deliver. But Allen needs to take the short throw and allow for the boring, drive sustaining play if he's to become the best qb possible. I think he's smart enough and humble enough to figure it out.
  17. I know your view, John. I am getting old. I don't have the patience I had when I figured I had forty or fifty years to see a Cup. Perhaps you're right and I hope for the best. What else can one do? Personally, I just don't have confidence in Housely, but I don't claim to be a hockey expert.
  18. Yeah, but other than that, similar caliber, right?
  19. It's really a depressing scenario. Start of the season when they were hot, I was hopeful they had turned the corner. They are playing so poorly now. The bottom has fallen out and I don't see seasoning of young players sufficient answer to how miserable they look. At this point, I really hope Terry throws a boatload of money at Joel Quenneville, though I'm not sure even that would be enough to convince him to coach this team.
  20. I already said this earlier. I think they would like to go DT, TE. Ed Oliver at #9, then trade back into the first to get Hockenson or Fant if T.J. is gone. I don't think they're going to just wait and see who is there at #40.
  21. I got twenty bucks on oldmanfan . . .
  22. If it's just coachspeak, it's not determinative. I don't suppose he's going to give away our draft strategy, but to me it seems plausible. Those two positions seem like places you would invest draft capital given where our personnel needs are.
  23. DT and TE jump out from those quotes as primary interests. I'd like to see Oliver at #9. Still think TE will fall towards mid-twenties. Trade back up for Hockenson or Fant if TJ is gone.
