  1. I could not possibly agree more. That said, allow me to introduce you to our #1 pick in 2023..... https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Brian-Branch-DB-Alabama
  2. I hope that you get someone to replace him. I can't imagine the money they are tossing around. As far as A&M, their roster is loaded with talent. Alabama was heavily recruiting their DT Water Nolen, who I think will be great. That said, carrying a roster full of millionaires didn't help them last season.
  3. I agree. At last count Bama had 12 in the portal, and there is nothing to make me not believe that Saban ushered them into it as well. I think that the biggest problem I have with with NIL is that imo, it will never increase the quality of play for the athlete and will often decrease it. I have said this many times, who wants to box Mike Tyson or get hit by Ruben Foster if you have 500K in your pocket and a selection from an entire university chock full of hot coeds? I don't know where this whole thing will go, but it will wind up costing some of the better players money in the long run, or at least I think it will. Most of the best players come from poverty stricken backgrounds. I truly don't think that many, if not most of them are mature enough or prepared to handle themselves with all of this sudden cash. Jmo.
  4. The glass was raised, the fired-roast The fullness of the wine, the dim last toasting While at port adieu or die A choke of grief heart hardened I Beyond belief a broken man too tough to cry Surf's Up Aboard a tidal wave Come about hard and join The young and often spring you gave I heard the word Wonderful thing A children's song
  5. I heard on Sirius today that Miami offered Alabama OLB/Edge Dallas Turner 1 million dollars to transfer. I don't blame Miami; I have seen every snap of his at Alabama and I'm telling you that he is very, VERY good. That said, the system bothers me. I am not thinking that he will be a better player with a cool million (and who knows how much more) in his pocket. Will he be as hungry? Maybe so but I doubt it. I know that the players deserve money. I also know that Saban will be able to poach players from other teams and probably will, with or without Turner. I just think that that there should be a system in place. I get it that I am a bit reluctant to change. So are most people imo but this current system is like complete anarchy and needs structure imo. What do you think?
  6. Nobody can do the (Shing-a-ling) like I do Nobody can do the (Skate) like I do Nobody can do (Boogaloo) like I do Nobody can do (Philly) like I do Well, don't you know I'm gonna skate right through Ain't nobody do it but me Nobody but me
  7. Come along if you care Come along if you dare Take a ride to the land inside and you'll see How happy life could be if all of mankind Would take the time to journey to the center of the mind Would take the time to journey to the center of the mind Center of the mind
  8. Probably so. My real point is that the bowl games are virtually pointless and represent little to nothing for ANY team.
  9. True but he was nursed back into health from 2 very serious injuries (one non football related) in perhaps the best facilities and medical staff that exist anywhere. That in itself would cost anyone a TON of money. Please don't misunderstsand.....I want the kids to get paid but I also think that there should be a system in place. It is worthy to note that the US Supreme Court cannot agree on what day of the week it is, but; they ruled 9-0 against the NCAA for having no system in place at all. Even in the NFL players can't just take the money and run.
  10. I can't say that I 100% blame Trey, but Saban carried him through a bad football injury and a serious injury sustained in a car accident. He probably would not have started but this (imo) ties into you post on this topic. There is far less loyalty these days. I want the players to earn money but there must be a fair system in place.
  11. Alabama already has 12 in the portal. What I don't like is that they can take NIL money and just leave. Even NFL free agents don't have this kind of freedom. We were talking about bowl games having meaning.....who knows if we can even field a team?
  12. When you put your arms around me I feel so satisfied I want to love you forever I just can't, I can't decide Every time I move I lose When I look I'm in And every time I turn around I'm back in love again Right back, right back In love again (Alright) Seems like, seems like Back in love again
  13. This is too sad for words. May God bless her and her family.
  14. Probably somewhere around 12....to inferior teams.
  15. But it isn't just "someone like me." Bryce Young and Will Anderson are two of the very best players in college football. I strongly doubt that either of them will play. If they don't, forget about me.....are YOU going to view this game as a true measure of the Alabama team? There will certainly be other draft eligible players sitting out the game. Now, would I rather The Crimson Tide win? Of course I would but I place less importance on the final outcome of the game than I do on player development. Alabama has 2 talented QBs on the roster (and an incoming freshman). They need to compete for the starting job. Both the OL and DL will change drastically as well. Players need the chance to show what they can do. Oklahoma State will certainly play in a bowl game, no? What concerns you more, winning a somewhat unimportant bowl game, or developing players for the future? Sheesh!
  16. It's your life and you can do what you want Do what you like But please don't keep me waiting Please don't keep me waiting 'Coz I'm so tired, tired of waiting Tired of waiting for you I'm so tired, tired of waiting Tired of waiting for you
  17. If you are not capable of interpreting my post, there is no point in me trying to spell it out for you yet again. Be well.
  18. I am going to jump on OSU but of course I hope that it goes to 7. The UGA QB is a smart guy and is pretty accurate. Your defense scares me a bit but I am pretty sure that your receivers will score touchdowns. NO OFFENSE, but I think that you have a better shot of winning against them than you did against Alabama 2 years ago. One thing I am sure of.....this Georgia team is not as good as that Bama team. I am not trying to blow smoke up your a$@, but I think that Ohio State can and will win the title. Good luck!
  19. How did we manage to win without 2 first round corners in a zone defense?
  20. Not really. I think that you stand a strong chance of beating them. What is the point spread?
  21. Yes, big time congrats to those whose favorite team has a chance to compete for the title. I hope for good, injury free football games for all 4 teams. 👍🏈
  22. Seriously, how obtuse are you? I hope that Bryce Young doesn't play at all in a meaningless bowl game!!! I want to see our 2 backup QBs compete. There is a particular freshman RB (Jamarion Miller) who barely got to play this season and I have very high hopes for. I hope that he gets substantial playing time. Our young reveivers need more work as do our young OL and DL. To me, a bowl game is much more about player development than winning or losing. Mac Jones got hs first chance to start in a bowl game against Michigan. He did pretty well for us after that, dontcha think? ALL KIDDING ASIDE, maybe I wouldn't think this was if I was a fan of a lesser team. Good luck with OSU next season. I mean this.
  23. I like to think that there are more things upon which we may agree. 👍👌
  24. I strongly disagree with your first 2 paragraphs. If a team from a bargain basement, garage sale conference (Tulane for example) gets lucky one season and wins out, are you saying that they should get in over a 1 or even 2 loss Ohio State, etc.? How many players (besides JP Losman LOL) have they delivered to the NFL as compared to the top quality teams? Do you think that Tulane could beat any of the Top 20 teams? That said, I strongly agree with your last paragraph. In fact, I think that conference championship games should be eliminated. Having 12 playoff teams will already increase the workload for many of these kids, and the chance for them to suffer injury. Is there ANY doubt that some players will suffer career shattering injuries playing in these extra games? I get it that football fans are at least in a sense like fans of gladiators in days of old. I also understand that these players are now getting paid, and some are making lots of money. Still, some of them (the very good/great ones) stand to lose millions and for what? A conference title? They should make all conferences have one division and let the team with the best record (or tie breakers if necessary) be the conference champion. Jmo.
