  1. While I don't totally agree with this post, I must say that it looks great under your screen name, which btw I always placed in my top 10. I wonder what happened to Pills and Bills and Pass the Pipe!
  2. I wasn't calling him a young Erik Williams. That said John, the Bills have fielded MUCH worse at RT.
  3. Would that be the team that paid him 36 million dollars?
  4. You forgot starting Pears at Guard. There was little to no chance of him succeeding at that position. He is a RT. Period.
  5. History tells you not to count on it John.
  6. KTD, Pat Kirwin has been talking about sitting qbs for a few seasons for weeks now. He mentions Rodgers, Tyrod and yes, Ryan Mallett. Mallett has a 100 million dollar arm and a ten cent head. That said, he won a football game last week without his left tackle. He just might win some more games too. Maybe it helped him just to be on a team around people who know what they are doing, I don't know. Teams play the spread in college these days. It is SO different in the NFL and the transition seems to be taking longer. What I like about this is that in the scenario that Tyrod is the real deal, the trade value for EJ will increase, perhaps by a lot. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Sammy no question. Even if he was out there as a decoy, he would draw coverage. Tyrod will make up the ground yardage. I am really feeling that in one of these games, he is going to put on a full blown show running the football. Jmo.
  8. Wow! I never saw that coming.
  9. Well, let's hope that the game will be played and that we can watch it given the pending hurricane. That said: Bills 20 Giants 16 Hard to say why but I am sensing a close game, with lots of rushing yardage from Tyrod. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. No, let me apologize and you are right in that a weak, depleted secondary can truly hurt a team because even the greatest lines are unable to provide pressure on every down. If Darcy plays at this level or improves, he will be a total steal. It's hard to break into the NFL as a corner. Sometimes they take a few years to develop, and the next thing you know they are UFAs demanding 50 million dollar and up contracts. I for one would much rather spend the money on a quarterback and big guys.
  11. I will brush the sarcasm aside and answer this. Sure Darby seems like a great pick, one btw I didn't complain much about. And remember in theory, we would have had a first round selection in front of him if not for the Watson trade. Now, think back if you will. The Bills waited a very long time to try to replace Jim, Andre, Thurman and Bruce, and by the time they did try it was far too late. They spent years using their best resources on defensive backs, and it got even worse when Levy reappeared as GM. After 3 weeks the Bills look good, but imo they must be prepared for trouble ahead. Kyle is getting old. Glenn isn't playing so well. Mario can't stay great forever, and let's hope that Marcel keeps his head on straight with 100 million dollars in his pocket. Another center would be nice as well. And remember, this gets that much worse if Tyrod gets injured, etc. So yes, once again please count me out of the first round defensive back club. This is a parade that I will step back from, and I nominate you personally to lead.
  12. I think that his post was on point. Spiller was a stupid draft pick regardless of who selected him. The fact that he was offered a big contract IS a concern. Whaley was very lucky that he did not accept it. And so are we as Bills Fans.
  13. Your post is a very good one but it is not all encompassing. I loved the reference to the Bills drafting Spiller and have been blasting this kind of stupidity since the day he was selected. That said, our problems ran WAY deeper. Please, go on drafthistory.com or any other draft site and check out how many 1st round picks have been devoted to defensive backs and/or running backs. If you ever want to know how to lose football games, you will see a precise diagram. The Bills are now a talented football team. We might even have a quarterback. IF Tyrod is the real deal, the Bills need to plan for the future in lieu of filling self created holes and chasing defensive backs. They need to strengthen both lines, and prepare for players such as Kyle and Mario to get old. And the way Glenn looks there might really be a problem at LT, which is not good. In all, I like what I am seeing. Obviously, nothing matters as much as having a qb. Let's hope that Tyrod can do the job because if he can, this team can go places now, and in the future.
  14. Stick around so we can talk about the games he took over and won for us. I'll start: Your turn!
  15. Fans, as one would expect, simply HATE to admit that a first round draft selection was a waste, bust, or whatever one would wish to call it. Not me. Spiller was an idiotic selection, almost as dumb as taking Whitner.
  16. That seems about right. He was M.I.A. here as well.
  17. BPA from all OL and DL positions.
  18. I would totally agree with the above synopsis. I think that what Badol is saying is that with more effort and concentration Gilmore would be that much better, perhaps a star. I can't speak for him but if my hunch is correct, I agree 100%.
  19. Yeah, Philbin is going to be fired. I think that he wants to be. During the week, he made some comments alluding to the fact that they neglected the OL in the draft. You know the GM isn't happy. That said, I'll take a divisional win! We've had lots of problems, including our OL being neglected for many years. I have little to no sympathy for the Phish.
  20. Absolutely. I almost never trust any lead when the Bills are playing. This game was different. Btw, it was a classy move to throw in EJ at the end. After all, he went to college down in Florida and probably had some people at the game. And speaking of EJ, he was helping out on the sidelines and not sulking. He's a good kid.
  21. I for one cannot see removing Darby from the field as long as he plays to this level.
  22. 1) On the last play of the 1st quarter, Clay threw a perfect block for Karlos. Clay played a great, complete game today. As I have said, a good TE is a young qb's best friend. 2) Listen, Gay is worth a roster spot. He gave us great field position, and things like this truly do matter. 3) Preston Brown hits like a truck, and it is simply great to have him on this football team. 4) There's mosquitoes on the river. Fish are rising up like birds. It's been hot for seven weeks now, Too hot to even speak now. Did you hear what I just heard? Say, it might have been a fiddle, Or it could have been the wind. But there seems to be a beat, now. I can feel it in my feet, now. Listen here it comes again!!!! 5) Do you see what happens when we blitz up the middle? This set up the Brown pick/TD. This is what football is supposed to look like when a team has a talented defense. 6) Great game by Harvin today, to include a very clutch first down with approx. 4 minutes left in the 1st qtr. 7) I want to send out some props to Gilmore. Lord knows I blasted him when I saw fit but today he was fantastic. 8) Karlos Williams is exactly the type of running back this team needed. I mean seriously, who would you rather have, Fred and Spiller or Shady and Karlos? Case closed. 9) Speaking of corners, Darby is playing as well as any rookie I can remember since the rule changes. It would be perfect if Rambo would stop kicking his ass. 10) Glenn continues to be a huge concern imo. He was far from dominant, and even appeared to be just standing around on some plays. I don't get it. 11) Tyrod is the man!!!! The pass to Sammy was picture perfect and what I loved about it was that he didn't have to step into the throw. The kid has an arm, is smart, and is the fastest qb in the NFL. There is nothing not to like and maybe the talk about switching starters will finally stop, no? 12) Very good game from Incognito. It's nice to have a left guard! 13) Time to come home and beat up the Giants! 14) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. You will be fine if you don't drink until game time. :) :)
  24. Agreed. One would think that I would have picked the OL. This would have been my second choice, but a few sacks and takeaways would go far to shorten the field for Tyrod. Time for the DL to start really earning the big bucks.
  25. How did you feel about Dareus and Hughes dropping into pass coverage? Imo, this takes away from Mario. He holds his side as well as anyone and I think he is at his best when there is rush up the middle and the qb is forced to his side. This is when he truly levels people and changes the game. The whole thing sickened me and reminded me of Jauron sending Schobel into coverage. I never, ever expected to see something this piss poor from Rex.
