I am still miffed at not retaining Levitre. I thought the money is being saved for some good FA signings but no significant (high $$) ones happened this season. Levitre and Byrd should have been signed and retained.

One of my favorite music groups is Jethro Tull and this is a character from the comic that was in the sleeve of "Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll Too Young to die" album. The character is an aging rocker named Ray Lomas which kind of reflects where I would have wanted to be and hence is my avatar.

Colin Cowherd NFL season predictions
Fan in Chicago replied to dascottbills28's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure about the 5-1 prediction for the Dolphins but based on the number of question marks about the Bills (depth, rookie WR, new QB, new schemes, DEs, LBs), any prediction over 6-10 or 7-9 is optimistic. Also, if the Pats* win the division this year, it may be more due to the weak division than due to their own prowess. -
I specifically highlighted the following words : "(sadly this is the new standard for bad behavior in the NFL)" and then made my comments. Hence, my skepticism regarding these supposed new standards in the NFL. Anyway, back to the original post, I really really wish that Stevie would seek the attention he desires by his superior WR play alone (or by doing good community service). And that is all I am going to state about this matter in this thread.

I have been the most upset with himregarding the N Korea-Foxboro comment. That was beyond immature. But in general, his transgressions have become more than a minor annoyance. I think maturity, or lack thereof, will eventually hurt the team on the field. It also brings unwanted attention to a team lacking any positive news for the better part of the last decade. He is a team player, but i dearly wish he would stop these look-at-me actions. Perform as a superior WR and get your attention fix that way.

Another reason I genuinely like Rex Ryan
Fan in Chicago replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That record is more an indication of the Bills incompetence than the Jets' prowess. As eball has said, the tide is turning for sure. My discussion was on Rex Ryan as a coach and I did not bring the Bills into any of my points. Not sure why you took this opportunity to once again bash the Bills. I know you were not addressing me, but to me this makes no sense. You are implying that I cannot objectively evaluate any personnel or coach of a team that beats the Bills ? As an example, Bradon Spikes is a POS and will always be. But, as a member of a team that routinely beats the Bills, am I not allowed to say that ? This is a discussion board and I feel no inferiority complex while commenting on an opponent. -

I disagree with your liking of RR. He may be entertaining but that should be backed up by solid coaching and handling of the locker room. By all measures, his team routinely looks disorganized over the course of the season. His biggest failing, IMHO, is his handling of the QB situation. I am not sure how much control or influence he has over personnel decisions, but I would think he has a fair amount of input. Given that, sticking with Sanchez, getting Tebow and finally drafting Geno Smith looks totally haphazard and without direction. There is little to like about him. He is perhaps a very good DC but as a HC, I think he is terrible. Which, as a BIlls fan, I should be totally thrilled about. -
Colin Kaepernick in a Dolphins hat
Fan in Chicago replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree. All depends on the star. Some crave public attention and beg for privacy when things go sour. Celebrity status cuts both ways. Examples of "stars" who manages their privacy well is Jodie Foster, several top tennis players.... -
Colin Kaepernick in a Dolphins hat
Fan in Chicago replied to NoSaint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your post encapsulates my feelings too. This is a stupid move on his part - not just that he wore the hat but his 'fu' response to criticism. It actually shows that he doesn't care for the fans. Which, in any professional sport, is a big no-no. I bet Harbaugh is more pissed that he doesn't have a viable backup option having traded away Smith. So, he cannot sit CK as a disciplinary measure without risking a few games. And those saying that it matched the rest of his .. ahem... clothes, couldn't he have either bought a plain teal cap ? Or worn different colored underwear ? -
Any updates on this ?

July Movies: Lone Ranger, Wolverine, & Pacific Rim.....
Fan in Chicago replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I agree with the Del Toro comment. Perhaps the only reason I did not dismiss that movie after the trailers. For the rest of this summer, I am most excited about August's Elysium. I am curious how Blomkamp follows up the brilliant District 9. And now he has Damon and Jodie Foster with Copley -

Consider me skeptical but how can pure body heat produce enough energy to power a light bulb ? Also, after a bit of time, the air inside the flashlight will equate in temperature to the body and the temperature gradient will be lost. What am I missing here ?

Odd places you've met players

I met Maria Sharapova in my dreams -
I am going to get skewered for saying this, but for this moment I appreciate what the Pats* did here. They cut ties with a potential law-breaker/obstructer and a team distraction. Yes, they took a risk in drafting him but have now cut ties with that mistake. Can't find much to hate about their action.

Timing of this post is good as I have a question. This past weekend, wifey and I were sauntering in our town's park where there is a nice fountain surrounded by cascading water also. Saw a bunch of 4-6 year olds and 13-16 year olds playing in the water. There is a big sign that says there is no wading, jumping or swimming in the water. So I wondered: - The water is getting dirty - The surrounding area is getting muddy - These kids could hurt themselves - It is not allowed by the village I had no idea what to do as the police non-emergency number was not manned being a weekend. So I called them yesterday and asked what should I have done. She said I absolutely should have called 911. What do you guys think ? Should I have called 911 ? (our village is very quiet and police pretty much sit around giving tickets to drivers).

Buffalo has produced at least one winner
Fan in Chicago replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No I was not. I work in downtown but left early to reach home (western suburb) before the game. I will be around the office during the parade though I am not sure I want to physically be with the crowds. Feels good to have your team win a championship. A feeling I can only dream of experiencing as a Bills fan. Strangely along with being a Blackhawks fan, I am also such a rabid Bills fan that I just cannot get myself to support the Bears in the least bit. -

My view is biased, being in Chicago but around these parts he is not hated. He is admired for his skills, clutch play. Most negative comments I have heard are regarding his physical size and concern that he may not last too long in the NHL. The rest of the comments are regarding his partying and well publicized (and apparently photographed) antics in the local bars. I really cannot fault the dude for the latter - he is 24, a celebrity and is not known to let the partying affect his play on ice. As long as he doesn't get into altercations or behind the wheel after such evenings, I couldn't care less. Having said all that, I thought the Conn Smythe winner should have been Crawford for his consistency throughout the playoffs and holding off opponent surges at key times (see yesterdays period 1 barrage by the Bruins and the lone goal they had to show for it). Even Kane in his post-award interview said Crawford deserved it more. -
Chicago wins the Stanley Cup and Kane wins the Conn Smythe trophy. Woo hoo !!

Saw two movies this past weekend: - Man of Steel: Quite good especially compared to the last iteration. Cavill, Shannon and Crowe are all very good. I just wish they had tamed down the violence and destruction in the last half hour. Frankly, it took away the intensity of the climax. - World War Z: Surprisingly entertaining movie. I went in not expecting much and came away impressed.
