  1. This article is slamming Geno Smith but has a very encouraging bit about EJ: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--geno-smith-s-firing-of-agents--pre-draft-actions-shed-light-on-why-qb-dropped-183846651.html "Both sources indicated that Florida State's E.J. Manuel, who was selected ahead of Smith at No. 16 overall by Buffalo, was far more impressive in terms of his personality and maturity. "Manuel gets it, he gets the whole big picture of what it takes to lead a team," one of the league executives said."
  2. How much of a hit will they take next year if they keep him ? Their mistake was to give him the huge contract so early. At this point, they might as well cut their losses.
  3. We need to go D for our next pick Darn, Minter gone.
  4. The trade down yesterday made me wonder the same thing.
  5. Just four picks before we are on again. House money, baby. Guess the announcers still enamoured by Te'o and Smith
  6. Awesome. Here we go guys. Woods, Minter, Brown all available
  7. Billick just suggested that the Bills should start the Marrone era with EJ at QB
  8. Anouncer said the fans liked the Geno Smith pick. I am pretty sure I saw and heard groans
  9. My guess is the that the Jets will take a QB now
  10. Wow we will have a surfeit of picks at our positions of need. We are sitting really pretty. Hope we don't get too cute.
  11. I am not toi sure about that. We could use one. Maybe a OLB/DE hybrid.
  12. Should have a good choice when we pick. Minter, Woods still available. Hope we dont pick Teo just for marketing purposes.
  13. Traded Byrd to the Pats* for all their picks in this draft
  14. There really isn't much of a 'jerkfest' re: EJ on this board. If anything, the general sentiment is one of cautious optimism and trust that the offensive mind of Marrone saw something in him. I am happy that we could trade down and then pick him when the entire draft class of QBs was available. I don't watch college football so have no opinion on his possible career. But I am happy that we spent an inordinate amount of time scouting the prospects and took the best among them. This should have happened two seasons ago or at worst the past draft but we are where we are now. John, I have no time not interest in looking back at your post history. But you do post infrequently and hence I kind of remember your posts. Some friendly advice - the problem is not whether you are right or wrong. It is obvious you watch sports intelligently and ave opinions. The problem is in the way you state and defend your position and in how you interact with the other posters. Perhaps there would be a better debate with a better tone. Just my opinion - take it or leave it. I am just hopeful of EJ eventually working out for the Bills cos I am sick and tired of seeing this never ending circus of QBs paraded through OBD.
  15. My pure speculation is that there was one team picking between #16 and #41 that wanted EJ. The Steelers have been sniffing around the QB corps for a few weeks now. Could it have been them ? I am not upset at all that we did not trade down further. After all our 2 Rd 2 picks are pretty high.
  16. Snippets I also posted in another thread: "EJ has to earn the trust of the players, our responsiliblity to get him ready" "he will compete with Kolb and Tarvaris Jackson" On why not Nassib (did not answer directly) "we made the best decision for the Buffalo Bills" Who makes decision "scouts write hundreds of reports, Nix/Whaley/me etc sit and discuss. So decision comes naturally" who will you take the 2nd round "If we told you that, all those talk shows will be out of a job and I am all about making jobs" Do you have a better handle on this draft class coming right out of college now "you have seen them, seen how they grown, but difficult to say what they will become. watch fil, meet the kid, everyone has same decision"
  17. Moments before our trade, I was looking at the BPAs and concluded that none was at a position of need for us. I was hoping we wouldn't go DT or OG with that high a pick. Lo and behold the trade was announced. Very non-Nixy if I may say.
  18. Snippets from Marrone on Mike & Mike in the morning: ------------------------------------------------------ "EJ has to earn the trust of the players, our responsiliblity to get him ready" "he will compete with Kolb and Tarvaris Jackson" On why not Nassib (did not answer directly) "we made the best decision for the Buffalo Bills" Who makes decision "scouts write hundreds of reports, Nix/Whaley/me etc sit and discuss. 19. Its times like this when I realize the value of TBD and how dependent I am on it. Not being able to share my opinion and hear others' is something I am just not used to after all these years of being here. So stop making excuses and next time, earn your paycheck.:-P.
  20. I would now stay at 16. If anything move back up into the bottom of the first.
  21. My guess is EJ. Buddy gets his BenR - similar build at similar pick position. Also the thought of CJ, TJ and EJ on the field at the same time is too juicy :-)
  22. Austin is tiny. Btw, Buddy wasn't a trader. Does this mean someone else is influencing the draft more than Buddy?
