EJ worked out with former NFL QB Steve DeBerg
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am pretty sure Whaley hired Orton to be a backup. And considering Orton's career to that point, it was not a bad decision. Also, before you bring up money, Whaley had to pay up as there were few other backup options available at the time. -
Last year, I had to get rid of an Ash tree in my front yard cos of the Emerald ash borer problem. Need to replace it. Something that doesn't 'shed' and not too large. Suggestions for trees and how to plant ? Seems like my neighbors are getting them for $500-$600 a piece which sounds exorbitant

Quite entertaining. Reading many of the posts, opinions and conjecture of not only NGU but others too. Man, I really miss NGU -
A Clue to "Never Give Up"'s Identity Perhaps?
Fan in Chicago replied to MattM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all great find. Coupled with Nosaints check up on his posting history, this seems to make sense. I wonder if a similar poster registered on the fan pages of the Titans, Texans message board in the subsequent years. -

There are different definitions of 'athlete'. One may choose to say that a top athlete is the very best to ever play the game e.g. Roger Federer in tennis. Others may choose a person who does well in several sports. There are however, not a lot of variation to using terms such as 'best athlete in the world' . This implies Strahan keeps up with what is going on in other sports and also around the world. Unless athlete is synonymous with Wide Receiver and NY defines 'world'. Let me give you one example of what kind of athletes exist around the world to indicate how utterly myopic, misinformed and ignorant Mr Strahan's view is. AB Devilliers

Rex and Whaley discuss the OL
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Totally going by memory and still a very slim sample size but ... - which side did Henderson line-up against the Giants in last years HOF game ? I remember him stone walling JPP but cant remember which side he was on. -
Bills pre-draft visits/workouts
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure it doesn't get us in contention this year but allowing a mid round prospect to develop is good insurance for the future. Can't go wrong, IMHO. -
Bills April Fool's Headlines
Fan in Chicago replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And I recall in true beaten wife syndrome, me trying to justify that call. Kinda pathetic on my part but indicative of how low our standards and expectations had gotten -
We tried that last year and results so far aren't very encouraging. Whaley hasn't proven himself to be the best talent evaluator when it comes to OL. If we get Evans for a reasonable price (5-6th rounder) and $5-6 MM/yr, then we can truly go BPA at #50. And then I am okay if Whaley thinks that is an Olineman as the risk will be fairly low

Bills 2015 Slogan (for FO): "One ego, one goal"
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Chicago Blackhawks have 'One Goal' and it makes much more sense there than for an (American) football team. Imo -
Several have stated these options but reading about your situation, looks like there are a few things we have to assume: - You are working as much as you can and no possibility of new income - Your job is secure and you are in no risk of losing it - Your payments to the ex are fixed and while there may be a possibility of another look, assume nothing can change The revenue and expenditure side is almost fixed. Which means you have three choices with your debt: - Talk to the credit card companies and re-negotiate to a lower rate/payment arrangement. I think they should be willing to do this especially if you can convince them that your only alternative is bankruptcy - Can you not talk to your credit union for a personal loan at a low interest rate to pay off alll your debt ? I used to be on the board of a (civilian) credit union and used to run specials on rates to help members pay off their high interest loans - Bankruptcy . IMHO, this should be the last resort if above options dont work Two final thoughts. First, thank you for your service. Secondly, please don't get married again

2017 Pro Bowl could be in Brazil
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cant they have Brazilian cheerleaders for this game ? See above suggestion re: cheerleaders -
This available talent in FA almost never materializes for a QB. And let us say EJ tanks. Then what ? Reach next year for a QB ? Trade a boat load of picks to move up ? Again try to make-do with some second tier or has-been QB ? The time to get a QB is before you need one.
-
So, theoretically you are not opposed to taking a QB with our first pick. Is that right ? Rarely is a QB drafted out of the top of the 1st round expected to start in his first season. He is going to be a project of some order even if picked in the 2nd round. If there is a high prospect, might as well pick him now. I keep thinking about the hypothetical of EJ flaming out and we sitting next year forced to do extreme measures to grab a QB who will undoubtedly come with huge expectations. A 2nd or 3rd rounder this year will have less of such pressure and have a bit more time to develop. ANd I am specifically not talking about any QB, just the concept of drafting one even with out first pick.
-
Actually I think exactly the opposite. I think now is a great time to take a QB in rounds 2 or 3 if they like one. Year in and year out, good QBs just don't become available in FA or trades. So, if EJ does not pan out, at least we will have this dude in the NFL for a year or two as opposed to us scrambling next year or the year after to draft one out of need and again be on the bubble.

Thanx for stopping by. I want to see Buffalo meet Gb in the Superbowl. BTW, I haven't heard of any moves that the Pack has made this offseason. End of last season, it appears that you guys need help in several places. Whats the status of that ? With Rodgers, I am sure the odds of Buffalo winning would go from 33-1 to 1.00001-1

When the dust of this off season settles...
Fan in Chicago replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I fully agree. As I had written several times over the past couple of years, the problem began a long time back and Nix continued it by not recognizing the value of getting a QB first and foremost. To date, we are struggling to get that ethereal 'franchise' QB. I am willing to settle for an above-average one as well but signs appear weak so far. Short of that, the FO is doing the second best thing possible - building the remaining team as strong as they can. Can't fault them for that but also I agree with you that results may still be underwhelming without a significant jump in competence by EJ. -
When the dust of this off season settles...
Fan in Chicago replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are spots of the idiot poster on this board but by and large have been put in place by the mods and more informed posters. I don't think the percent of such posts have gone up over the years and I am close to being a founding member, As for the off-season, I am surprised that you dont see the team as being better than last season. McCoy, RI certainly improve the corps we had. While it is fair to question the personalities hired (RI, Harvin), in my mind there is a clear upgrade at several positions already. My main worry is if we are stocking up one too many a headcase on the team. I am in favor of team chemistry and not sure if Ryan has enough control to not let the inmates run the asylum, so to speak. Time will tell ofcourse, but the talent upgrade is quite undeniable. Perhaps you are placing too much stock on the inability to get that one great QB ? -
I suppose then he should be smart enough to know the economics of limited resources. Bet he won't be thinking about those millions when he is getting chased around while trying to find a target and gets pummeled on a regular basis.

Patience Grasshopper (Brandon Spikes)
Fan in Chicago replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hated Spikes as a Patriot* but so far he has played clean with the Bills. I would want him back knowing his limitations in coverage. He has experience, tough against the run and can mentor the young ones. Wouldn't mind him back on a 1-2 year contract.
