  1. See my note above about being careful what you wish for. The Chin should have his rump firmly planted in the studios unless it is to coach the Jets. I dont have a very favorable opinion of him ever since his handling of the Kordell 'Slash' Stewart situation and his general inability to take a very talented team further than he did. But let me not derail this conversation.
  2. Why 'clean house' ? We needed incremental changes not a wholesale do-over. Agree on no Schwartz
  3. Those who wanted him gone and celebrating his departure - careful what you wish for. IMHO, Marrone was not the problem with this organization. OC and OL coach both were far bigger issues and now the baby has decided to jump before the bath water was readying for being thrown out. Schwartz should NOT be the HC.
  4. We already have a thread for that discussion: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/174591-report-marrone-has-3-day-out-clause-due-to-new-ownership/
  5. Any team that hires Trestman, implicitly closes the door on getting Cutler. No way anyone who has coached him would want to do anything else but be on the other side of the field from him. And GM Emery is gone from the Bears - a much required firing for Bears fans. IMHO, Mike Smith should have been fired two seasons ago.
  6. Thats what I was thinking. So rumours about him singing with the Bills hinders efforts to sign new clients ?
  7. Not sure where you heard it, but IMO, this is the best case scenario
  8. I have been a semi-supporter of Marrone, but given a choice, I would rather keep Whaley. His major pros include building a very good defense and finding diamonds in the rough. His failings have been inability to find a QB and OL gaffes. I do not want to go back to the Donahoe or Marv Levy days of fumbling around with the draft only to hurt the franchise long term. Marrone on the other hand may be replaceable. I would much rather have option B which keeps both but cans the OC and OL coach.
  9. This is what I choose to believe also. Sure ! Better to end the season with doubt than to play EJ and risk a good performance by him. Meaningless game, reduce the odds of a controversy.
  10. Either way, not a big hurt if the staff doesn't want him.
  11. Thought I could sneak one in there and see who catches it. You win !
  12. Orton is about as good a a backup as there is in the NFL. a 0.500 career who can keep a team afloat when a more capable starter is hurt. He will be gone if he continues to want starter level money even if it is lower-tier starter. What is more interesting to me is what the staff does with EJ. Does Whaley stand true to his word and trust he made the right pick ? Lot of moving parts and we have no idea how the situation will shake out. A few things that can define plans: - Does a high profile QB get cut/ traded e.g. Eli Manning, Brees, Kaep, RG III - Does Orton want the same level of salary - Does the FO think there is a hidden gem in the 2nd round
  13. Man, this place is a treasure trough of TBDisms. In response to perceived loss of arm strength by Peyton Manning... We get this suggestion: "he needs the Brady training regiment which includes a high dose of HGH" http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/174453-is-peyton-manning-quietly-playing-his-last-season/page__st__40
  14. Yea, but its easier to understand when DC Tom says it
  15. I think he SHOULD be playing his last season but don't necessarily think he WILL. For most of this past month, he has not looked his old self. Perhaps it is arm fatigue setting in, perhaps his abilities are sliding. Be that as it may, considering the great things he has achieved, I think he should call it a career and go out when he is still remembered as one of the greatest. If his arm/abiities are shot for good and he continues to play for another season or two, he risks tarnishing his legacy. His ego will ofcourse make that decision for him but if he is smart, he will consider the above point and save his body from another season of punishment. He will have plenty of coaching or boradcast booth offers.
  16. It is indeed a serious question - is the great Manning's career over? This is not a single game in isolation. It has been building over the last few weeks.
  17. Speculation/rumor that trade to Titans is done: http://national.sunt...nnessee-titans/ Take it with a grain of salt though, cos there is no real evidence in the above article. It suggests that the deal is done and Cutler is benched to protect him while the details are worked out.
  18. I would look for the guy with the Timbits tshirt
  19. While I haven't been the most ardent supporter of CJ, I am interested if his playing helps our pathetic offense. I expect him to be a bit rusty in the intial going. If anything, it is good if he can play in this game and get the rust out before the playing the Pats*.
  20. Lets not de-rail this thread with that discussion yet again. It is Orton unless he gets hurt. A switch is not happening.
  21. If it is a choice between these two, Eli or no one. We have a defense to get past Eli's turnovers and carry him till December. Then we are good to go till the superbowl. In a fantasy world, if the following were available, I would choose Brees over Matt Ryan over EliM but never Cutler.
  22. My argument was not against him as a possible OC for the Bills. I thought the poster was saying he was a good HC and I disagreed with that thought.
  23. What has Trestman shown you that says he is a good HC ? If he was, the team wouldn't look so lost and disinterested past the half way mark this year. Their performances have been lackluster and the team has lately been an embrassment. Cutler for sure is a huge problem, but a HC should be able to get his team to transcend a sucky QB and atleast have them trying to win.
  24. A win against the Pats*, on the road, to end the season, with a QB like Orton, will be monumental for this Bills franchise. After that, even if the Bills don't make the playoffs due to math, I would truly consider it a successful season. But, if there is anything like a 'trap' game, the one against the Raiders is it.
