I disagree. This looked like a Bills game where the Broncos D played very well but their O had a tough time doing much after that first drive. Notice how many short/behind the LOS passes Luck was throwing early on. It depends on whether Fox knew of the injury yet stuck with him through the rest of the season. Or did PM hide the injury to get through the season. If it was the former, I am sure Fox would be in a terrible quandary. How does a coach bench a Peyton Manning and have the fan base trust it was for the better of the team ? Much easier to bench an EJ Manuel than a Peyton Manning.

Report: John Fox could be fired [Update: He is]

No reason for anyone to hasten his retirement. His now weak arm, aging body and tired mind will do that for him. -
What if our new coach is worse than Marrone?
Fan in Chicago replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was not his point. He was making an outrageous suggestion to somehow prove that those who are saying Marrone was a terrible coach are silly and are equally off the mark. (Can't believe I am actually helping OC) -
The Real Buffalo Joe is the unfortunate outcome of one such indiscretion by joesixpack's mother which makes TRBJ a step-bro to JSP

What if our new coach is worse than Marrone?
Fan in Chicago replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is that your strategy totally backfired in this thread. Instead of making your point, you have riled many of the posters including some respected ones (despite your conviction to the contrary). You may choose to justify your position based on your professional career but the attitude you took and the way you chose to construct + defend your argument leaves a lot to be desired. You started off with a simple enough question which is worthy of discussion - matters can indeed get worse. But that hypothesis went out the window when you started down the "Marrone quit due to the media" path (which I entirely see what you were trying to do there) and proceeded to defend your supposedly brilliant debating strategy by a bunch of attacks and aggressive posts which worked totally against you. -

Bills ST assistant John Anselmo defends Marrone
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is entirely likely that Marrone saw that Brandon's influence on the organization was going to go down drastically. So the same guy who influenced his hire and was probably being his fairy godmother within the Bills organization was on his way to being neutered. Which only meant the guy in charge would be the one guy Marrone had a rift with - Whaley. Marrone bailed before that could happen. -
Unhappy 15th anniversary of the Music City Miracle

I was in my previous house happy about the last score. My wife, not a football fan, came down and said "oh so they won it !". I said "no, there is still a few seconds left". To which she said "oh, come on"..... A few seconds later .... -

Has Marrone's credibility as a Head Coach taken a hit?
Fan in Chicago replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is lost in all this aftermath is a very basic question - if Marrone was known as an egomaniac, abrasive, control freak then why didn't the Bills due diligence not bring this to light ? I am leaning towards the thought that perhaps it was turned up and it was Brandon's love for him which chose to hide that information. Many of the opinions surfacing are painting a picture of him that pre-dates the Bills. The Bills FO is much as fault for ignoring these red flags and hiring him anyway. -
Head Coach candidate: Mike Shanahan
Fan in Chicago replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
those are several points worth considering before Buffalo even thinks seriously about Shanahan. I am hoping that Shanahan's interview is for PR purposes only to show that 'we will interview proven coaches as well as up-and-comers'. Last year, I was ready to whip Shanahan when he continued to let an obviously hobbled RG III continue playing. Can never forgive him for that. Besides the fact that he has had little success post-Elway. -
Fred Jackson discusses Marrone vs. Hackett

Duplicate thread. Already being discussed -
4. I am willing to give Whaley more control and then see where the roster and coaching shakes out. I think the man has an eye for talent, especially hidden. As for the OL misses, I am not totally convinced that Kujo et al are disasters because the overall OL regression may have alot to do with Marrone and Pat Morris. 9. I am absolutely no fan of Rex Ryan. 10. Agree on needing guards but may want to check what Kujo does with a new OC and OL coach 12. Absolute NO to Cutler. He is a head case and everything is always an excuse to cover up for his lack of intangibles. You know as much as anybody that a big arm by itself doesn't a QB make.

AFC Wild Card game 1: Baltimore at Pittsburgh

I would normally root for Pitts but for that reason alone, the Ravens winning is a good thing. -
Doug Marrone opts out of contract
Fan in Chicago replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think much before that, he will be asked about his conduct during the departure at his interviews. The NFL is a small group of businesses and you don't get to go far by being anything but cordial and courteous. Even if just in public, every coach and player needs to literally put on his game face at all times. -
Doug Marrone opts out of contract
Fan in Chicago replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Time will tell, ofcourse. But since my writing of that post, I found it odd that Marrone made no public statement about his departure and chose to do a (lame) mass text to the players he led for 2 years. Maybe my opinion is turning but not fully yet. -
Absolutely. Which is why I am vehemently against Bill Polian in any capacity other than an advisor or consultant. And for that role, he is unlikely to leave the studio. In that arrangement, I can't see how Whaley and Polian can co-exist. If we lose Whaley, this will be one poor and sorry move for the franchise.

Doug Marrone opts out of contract
Fan in Chicago replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Apart from a few factions on this board, I do not detect a mass hate of Marrone. As I have stated earlier, I do not understand the hate at all. It is well and fine to question his decisions and his gameday calls, but he did nothing to my knowledge that justifies a hate of the man. -

If that proves to be true, I will feel a bit better because they should have been gone no matter what. Let us see. -

In which case, bye bye Schwartz because if Whaley hires him to be the HC, I will be officially off the Whaley bandwagon.
