Good post, as usual Virgil. It is always productive to evaluate a loss, as it is to evaluate a win. You have to know what the team does best and what its weak points are. The team should not get in a funk, sure. But that is not to say they cannot learn from a very bad night I am not one to pin the loss on TT but he was a huge reason for the loss too. In the couple of times where the camera angle was correct, you could see a receiver or two streaking right across from him and he hesitated. Guy just doesnt trust his own eyes and thinks way too much. He has shown signs of improvement this season, but yesterday's game was a return to last year's form. The problem is that the stat line will show he had a great game but as happens way too often with him, the game's direction is clearly decided by his limitations.

Why did our D suck so bad tonight?

I know this thread is about the D, but the O wasnt doing them any favors last night. Horrid Offense last night -
Talent and/or character
Fan in Chicago replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every team has to have a blend of playmakers and role players who 'fit the scheme'. Besides the obvious QB position, there needs to be at least one star for positions such as DE, CB, WR and T. I agree we are undertalented at several of these positions Another aspect is leadership - besides KyleW, I will be hard pressed to identify who the clear leaders are in the locker room. Maybe several are too new to the team but we need a few of them. I am hoping yesterday's game was an anomaly and we get back on track in 10 days. -
Bellichick reportedly getting ready to retire
Fan in Chicago replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel that way too. The Bills should beat his team a few times in a row and by huge margins before he retires. I want at least one game where the Bills run up the score and go for it on 4th down when up by 30. -
The Pats Method of Winning is NOT Sustainable
Fan in Chicago replied to Jauronimo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In the past years, I felt there were times during the Marrone era that the team had enough talent to beat the Pats*** but just didnt have good coaching to pull it off. This year, so far, feels different. Frazier and Dennison appear flexible enough to adjust game plans and McD has the team prepared.. McD does not look like a rookie HC out there. For this reason alone, we should convincingly beat them in at least one game, perhaps both. By the time we play them. we will have played the Saints and Chiefs and hence would have a great idea whether this team belongs among the upper tier -
TRADE: Kelvin Benjamin to Buffalo

Classic BBFS, man. Unless you were being sarcastic Yep and allow the 1.5 weeks before the next game for the 'connection' to start building. -

Trades that should happen: Cordy Glenn to Giants
Fan in Chicago replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are crazy but not for this reason. :-) I too would absolutely hate any trade that ships out Glenn. After ages we have managed to find and keep a good LT. -

Dareus traded to Jacksonville!
Fan in Chicago replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My prediction is that the D does not like much different. His talent was not visible consistently this year. You can repeat your point all you want but we will see in a few weeks if MD really mattered to this D -
Dareus traded to Jacksonville!

I hated the Watkins trade and still do but this is one move I am totally emotionless about. Several months back, I had wondered what it will take to trade MD and the counter argument I heard was that he was untradable due to his contract. At the time, I felt MD had crossed the patience like with coaches. He needed way too much baby sitting and attention with continued half hearted efforts on the field. As things progressed, he did little to justify the coaches faith in him. He continued to be a distraction and likely taking away reps and attention from a 'lesser' but more motivated player like Worthy. This trade was a long time coming. Imho, this does NOT make the Bills worse this season. The more interesting question of course is, if he can perform close to his potential under Marrone, who knows him very well as you and NoSaint pointed out. If he does well under Marrone, it would be very very telling about McD as coach and the McBeane ego versus ability graph -

Please dont say that to Scott esp in his own thread. Others have suffered in the past going down this path. -
Are the Bills Oppressing Anquan Boldin?
Fan in Chicago replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gugny - you need to try harder. Trolling doesnt come naturally to you. -
I have said this in another thread before but it bears repeating. At the time he signed with the Bills, he may have been motivated by more than a paycheck. He very well could have been looking forward to mentoring Watkins, sort of his legacy in addition to his on-field performances. On the field, he would be needed to make the critical play and helping out TT. When Watkins was gone, all that was left for him was to play a few downs and collect a paycheck. Which, for a player of his stature, may not be very appealing. be that as it may, I still think it was wrong for him to dump on the Bills as he did. He could have swallowed his pride and played out his contract. But he did not. I submit that if someone is driven strongly by a cause, that drive doesnt disappear in 5 months. He really wasnt committed to that cause as strongly as he thought he was. I think the Bills should do him no favors. They signed him to a contract and are getting nothing for it on the field. Might as well get some compensation. It is highly likely some team will give up a low round pick in 2018.
