One of the pass catchers should be an experienced TE. Kroft has been pretty useless and we can't bank on Knox whose pass catching skills are a work in progress.

The article had a breakdown of key Allen plays. I am a supporter of Allen but am very interested in such analysis which talks about where he needs to improve. That is not equivalent to ****ing on him.

I know this thread is about Metcalf but even if you assume that Beane did not see the value, it does not excuse adding more talent at the receiving position. Emmanuel Sanders was available in the middle of the season. He could be had and yet we did not try/outbid the 49ers. He would have been a great vet presence on and off the field for a young QB. There was no excuse not to get him

Tough as it sounds, I wouldn't roll the dice. We have been burnt way too many times in the past when higher impact players were still on the board. Also look at the Giants. When they picked Barkley, I was of the opinion they should have picked a QB instead to take a smooth handoff from Eli. In retrospect, did Barkley affect their overall O performance enough ? It was a QB rich class, and the Giants would have been better served picking a Darnold, Allen or Jackson. So, as much a weapon that McCaffrey is, it is a safer choice, at the time of the draft (and not in retrospect) to pick a player at a rarer position of general availability.

Do not draft a RB in the first round. Ever. Period. I don't care who that player is. Use the first pick on a DE, WR or OT.

Along with an equivalent brain. ? Not to mention the D players on Hapless' post above
