  1. Fun fact. One of the new images from the telescope shows the galaxy group “Stephan’s Quintet”. These are the same galaxies shown at the beginning of "It's a Wonderful Life." https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/goddard/2022/nasa-s-webb-sheds-light-on-galaxy-evolution-black-holes
  2. I have a feeling that tomorrow's ones will be even more impressive. They're only beginning.
  3. Is that Sam Darold's grandfather? I know he was one of the Marlboro Men. He had one of the best names ever... Dick Hammer. (I don't think that's him, though.)
  4. Here we go! https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/goddard/2022/nasa-s-webb-delivers-deepest-infrared-image-of-universe-yet https://webbtelescope.org/news/first-images

  7. I lost my brother to a highly aggressive form of Melanoma 3 years ago. We all need to take skin cancer seriously.
  8. I posed this question in another thread, but thought it should be the subject of a new thread. In short, I was born and raised in the USA, but moved away to New Zealand in 2005. In the 17 years since I've been away, I've kept up with the news coming out of there, while also staying in touch with family and friends and hearing their opinions. Needless to say, there seems to be more and more bad news coming out of the US, especially over the last 6 years. It's now gotten to where I hear people in America openly believing that the country is heading towards civil war. That said, I'd really like to know how you all view the future of the country and what you expect will happen in the coming years. For what it's worth, I obviously wish you ALL nothing but the best. Let's go, Buffalo.
  9. Thank you for your responses to my question. I find this very interesting, so will start a new thread asking this question.
  10. In all seriousness, how does everyone see this all playing out? (As in, the future of the USA.) I moved away 17 years ago, and feel like I've been watching this slow motion train-crash from afar. It seems like no one wants to try to get along or compromise for the "common good" of America anymore. How do you all honestly feel about the future of America?
  11. Sounds like a lovely place. I'm surprised the tourism department doesn't mention this.
  12. Is this the excuse that you're thinking about using on the Mrs? "I don't know why there's always Chinese porn on my computer, darling... I'm honestly only trying to get Bills offseason news."
  13. Scrolling through some of the other articles on that Popular Mechanics site, I found one with an entirely different perspective, on why aliens aren't real. https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a40460495/objective-reality-may-not-exist/
  14. Do you know what he did when he stopped peeing? He did some Shakin'! 😀
  15. Mate, it would've been more like a ticket to paradise for him. Wait, what?
  16. I'll never forget seeing it set up in front of the hockey arena in Lake Placid, about 30 years ago. It is incredibly moving, and agree that everyone should go and see it.
  17. I once pissed in a urinal next to Eddie Money. Top that!
  18. Benny the who? Nope!
  19. Where else does "mafia" mean "family"? Anyone who hears the word "mafia" thinks of "the mafia", which is all about organized crime.
  20. Sorry, I was referring to George Thorogood and his band. I've always like "The Band"
  21. Same. I can't stand the band. One of the first years that we've lived down here, we had the opportunity to see Joe Cocker in concert. I've always loved Joe C, and the show was a really big-deal, since we live in the middle of nowhere. (Top of the South Island) Anyway, I just couldn't get myself to go, only because George f'ing Thorogood was the opening act. Nope!
  22. This is what he wrote in his notebook... https://www.foxnews.com/us/gabby-petito-murder-brian-laundries-notebook-confession-revealed What a sad, sad story.
  23. What a giant dumpster fire America has become.
  24. Another thing about alcohol that many people don't seem to realize is that it causes cancer. I only learned this a couple years ago, and am really surprised it's not more well known. https://www.alcohol.org.nz/alcohol-its-effects/health-effects/alcohol-related-health-conditions/cancer
